My apologies for abandoning this blog! The community more or less faded/relocated to Dreamwidth, but now that Tarvek's being picked back up I thought I might as well.
Anyway, questions welcome!
(WHY DOES EVERYTHING THESE TWO DO TURN TO SAP)
[Her words tickle his ear and tickle all the way down his spine. Maybe it’s because he just woke up, he seriously doubts it, but her saying those things about him and being so sincere does things to him he can’t describe. He feels like flying, invincible, capable of achieving anything. He certainly doesn’t deserve for her to think so highly of him. He knows that if he protests, she’ll get upset, but he still doesn’t feel worthy.
And he really really wants to kiss her. He has nothing left to say that wouldn’t come out as him trying to downplay himself. He’s still unsure of breaking into her space, though. He refuses to kiss first, to take that step until invited. He won’t enter her personal space unless she tells him to. The last thing he wants to do is overstep and upset her. So he doesn’t do it. He just relaxes, enjoying being so close to her and trying to fight off his fears.
He’s brave enough to rest a gentle hand on her cheek and stroke it though.]
[She can tell what he wants. When they're like this, she always can, and it's a knowledge that sets something big and bright and loud to burning in her chest.
Tarvek is always so careful, so cautious with her. Maybe it should make her angry. It doesn't. Even if she does wish he'd take the initiative sometimes. Oh well, that's what Gil's for wait what. He's so worried about upsetting her, and she knows that even the hand on her cheek is a lot without her asking first, and she knows too that the words stick on her tongue more often than not. She just... wishes he trusted himself more, that's all.
Suddenly inspired, she scoots to the edge of her chair, moving close enough to him that their knees touch. She tilts her head forward a little, but not enough to pull away, as she reaches up to press her hand over his.
When she speaks it's soft, her mouth a breath from his.]

Feelings Jamming with Zan and Agatha
[There are… a lot of broken things. Saving the world doesn’t really leave much time for dealing with decade-old abandonment or what happens after your identity itself gets yanked out of your control and turned completely inside out, so she’s kind of… blocked that all off, consciously, in favor of not letting everything explode. And because she’s done that, because of her, so many people have been hurt. And she couldn’t save them.
She’s just going to kind of sniffle a little into Zan’s shoulder.]
[Oh sweet baby it’s ok. Zan understands. Sometimes lots of really urgent and important things come up and you just have to put everything else on hold. Obviously she doesn’t know everything that has happened and doesn’t really have the background, but she knows pent up grief when she sees it.
She’s gonna kiss Agatha’s head and rub her back a little.]
Do you want to talk about it?
[She doesn't... she doesn't know.
There's this big tangled mess inside her of things that hurt (promises broken and secrets kept and a return that never came. Headaches and tears and a name that wasn't hers any more. Adam. Lilith. Lars. The town, and the castle, and the weight of so many people with so much trust in her. Fury and frenzy, anger and Madness, terror and helplessness and the twisting crawling agony of being forced from your own mind) but she's bricked it over and stopped it up and she... really shouldn't be crying on the shoulder of a crazy warrior queen she barely knows, should she?
Okay, Zan, she's probably not going to talk about it but she's going to just... have a good cry, if you don't mind. She kind of needs it.]

Awkward Question Hour with Zan and Agatha
[Oh. That is. A very very sad face. For all that Zan is upset to hear that the Heterodyne boys are missing, it must be so much worse for their immediate family.
Clearly Agatha needs to be bosom-clutched some more. And Zan needs to stop prying so much. Ugh. She can be really insensitive and she’s sorry. She can ask someone else about this ‘war’ later.]
I’m so sorry, sweetie.
[Oh. More hugs. That’s… actually really sweet of Zan, and her eyes are going a little bit prickly as she relaxes into the hug.
It’s a very nice hug. Motherly (in the good way, not in the “take over your brain, kill your friends, and destroy the world” way). It… makes her miss Lilith, and Adam, and somewhere distantly in the back of her mind Uncle Barry too, and she’s kind of hiding her face against her shoulder.]
…thank you.
[Have fun with the suddenly-really-emotional girl clinging to you, Zan.]
[Sweet adorable darling. It’s ok. Let it all out. Mama Zan will make it better with hugs and hairpetting and gentle cooing sounds. She wants to make it better.]
Hey, you’re ok. We’re gonna make it ok.
[You’re family now, Agatha, and she’ll do whatever she can to help you deal and fix broken things. That’s just how it works.]

(WHY DOES EVERYTHING THESE TWO DO TURN TO SAP)
[She really should have seen that coming, but she’s giggling too now.
Tarvek should laugh more often. It suits him. (And also leaves her with a warm tingly happy sort of feeling, but that’s beside the point.)
So she’s going to try that again, but she’s going to push her glasses to the top of her head first. Right.
Forehead touches achieved.
And also a hand in Tarvek’s hair because he has nice hair okay.]
[Speaking of warm tingly happy feelings, Tarvek is definitely full of those right now. Being so close to Agatha always had that kind of effect on him, and it’s only been growing with her little signs of affection.
He admired every part of her face as she pushed her glasses out of the way, still smiling, marveling at the tiny gesture of accommodation she was making for him. Every little thing she does always seems fantastic to him, almost unbelievable when it relates to him.
Mmm hand in the hair. That gentle, slightly tickling feeling. He pushed in closer to rub their noses together gently.]
You are really amazing, you know that.
[That was a statement, not a question.]
[Tarvek unguarded, Tarvek open, is... wonderful. For so long it was so rare for him to be able to do that, and it still surprises her a little, making her shiver all over again with the realization of how much he cares.
And of how adorably sentimental he is -- see also: noserubs -- although she's not going to tell him that in so many words. Instead she's going to lean into it and shut her eyes and smile.]
So are you, Tarvek.
Awkward Question Hour with Zan and Agatha
[Well, she certainly found that amusing.
And oh hey awkward question hour. WHAT DO, she’s not used to having to explain everything that happened before. Usually the questions she gets asked have answers more along the lines of “No, I am not my mother” or “Yes, the castle is out to kill you.”]
There was a war, and… they disappeared. My father and uncle.
[Well
that was bound to come up sooner or later.]
[Oh. That is. A very very sad face. For all that Zan is upset to hear that the Heterodyne boys are missing, it must be so much worse for their immediate family.

slow motion lightning.
holy shit
[Uh, yes. Yes. Airships. Oblong, that they are.]
That’s… that’s what they are, yes.
Most of them aren’t a kilometer long, though.
[And. Well. Political bullshit, you could… you could, in fact, say that.]
Well, it had to do with me being a threat to the peace — a new Heterodyne after twenty years. [Shrugs.] And with me not wanting to get my brain cut up.
[A kilometer? Now that is the funniest thing Zan has heard in a very long time, and she takes a moment to appreciate it. She laughed. A full and loud and uninhibited a laugh.]
What in Ashtara’s name could possibly be the reason for having a ship that large?
[Wait never mind don’t answer that, she has a few ideas.]
And what in her name does Klaus think he’s doing cutting up young girl’s brains? [Her laughter ends and she frowns, quirking her hips and holding her hands on them sternly.]
What happened with the Heterodyne name that you would be a threat to him?
[By god everyone is incompetent! She must to everything herself! Oh well, if that is how it must be, she’ll sort this all out. Even if it means beating Klaus into agreement.]
[Especially if it means beating Klaus into agreement.]
[Well, she certainly found that amusing.
And oh hey awkward question hour. WHAT DO, she's not used to having to explain everything that happened before. Usually the questions she gets asked have answers more along the lines of "No, I am not my mother" or "Yes, the castle is out to kill you."]
There was a war, and... they disappeared. My father and uncle.
[Well
that was bound to come up sooner or later.]
[That is… a lot of information all smooshed into one sentence there, Agatha. Let’s rein that back in a little, shall we?]
Castle. Wulfenbach?
[She’s really not sure she heard that right. The hints of a smirk are showing on her face.]
[Wait… what?]
The Baron’s airship.
You… don’t know about it?
[She feels that more information is probably necessary, then.]
It’s really more of a flying city than anything. I wasn’t on board very long — I had to leave when he found out who I was, and due to… technical difficulties [if by ‘technical difficulties’ you mean ‘Othar Tryggvassen’, Agatha, sure] I crashed. And then I met Zeetha.
[Airship? He had told her about those but she had yet to see one. And certainly didn’t think that Klaus had one.]
Klaus was not in possession of an airship last I heard. [Chuckle] He must have found some need to be airborn. A whole flying city.
[She’s a little proud, yeah. He was busy while he was away. Wait. Airships.]
Airships are those sort of… [She gestures in the shape of an oblong cylinder, not sure of the english word to use.]
[Also again with all the information! It’s taking her awhile to get to all these things!]
Why did you have to leave when he learned who you were?
[Is there some political bullshit going down that she needs to sort out with good old-fashioned menacing and forced truce-ing?]
[Uh, yes. Yes. Airships. Oblong, that they are.]
That's... that's what they are, yes.
Most of them aren't a kilometer long, though.

[Agatha is so completely adopted. She really doesn’t have a say in the matter: she’s part of the family. And every perk and every burden that entails (honestly it’s mostly perks). She’s getting a good vibe from Agatha, and if she’s Bill and Lucrezia’s daughter she’s going to be someone worth knowing.]
Whenever you feel up to it, dear.
Why don’t we get to know each other a little? You can tell me about your warrior training with Zeetha! How did you two meet?
[Oops she’s helicopter mothering. Sorry.]
The training? It’s… [She’s wincing. Because ahahaaaaa warrior training is still a thing. Well, it is if you mean “being woken up at ungodly hours and hit with sticks”.
To be fair, though, she probably wouldn’t be alive without it, so.]
…it’s going well. I think. Zeetha’s been really helpful, though — both with that and with the political side of things. There were lessons involved.
[Also battle axes. And okay, on to the next question.]
Well, um.
[That twiddly thing she’s doing with her fingers? That’s the “I don’t think this is going to go over well but she’s going to blurt it all out anyway” twiddle.]
…I went on the run from Castle Wulfenbach, crash-landed an airship, and joined the circus she was travelling with?
[That is… a lot of information all smooshed into one sentence there, Agatha. Let’s rein that back in a little, shall we?]
