c, can i snuggle with dinah without the sneaking
( snoozy cuddle meme | accepting | @hellkitten )
the city is all noise, all lights, and dinah doesn’t think she was even in the country the last time it ground to a halt. she’s never seen it this quiet, but then surprise blizzards will do that, successfully snowing them both into their building - them and everyone else. there’s a few tracks visible on the street below, footprints back and forth from people who probably couldn’t afford to take the day off. it’s so still, and calm in a way that dinah’s not used to.
she can hear the click of her eyelids, the sound of her own breathing, the hum of the heating in the background; but not the city. she leans against the windowsill, arms folded on it, and leans, her forehead gently pressing against the glass, curls trapping against her skin. she’s dozy. a nightmare woke her up - not specific, not one she remembers, just the horrible gut wrenching feeling that comes with fear, inexplicable and unplaced.
watching the street below being as unmoving as a photograph calmed her. a stray reflection of her bed in the window catches her eye, though; blankets being tugged around as trish turns over. dinah turns and thinks, that looks warm, actually, that looks safe, comfortable and she’s prompted to wander back over, steal back under the blankets before trish can wrap up in all of them at once.
she tucks her arms around trish’s waist. her head ends up somewhere on her shoulders. there’s not a lot to do, snowed into their building-street-city, other than spend time together, and by the time it was getting past reasonable social hours dinah couldn’t think of a good reason for trish to go back upstairs.
she likes spending time with her. cooking with her, talking and finding out how trish sounds without a pre-set topic in her mouth. not that it matters right now, half-asleep, burrowing to re-find the warmth she’d given up. she curls her fingers into trish’s borrowed t-shirt, which - comes up short on her. something like a half-foot difference in height will do that.
‘ if i woke you, i’m sorry. ’
