To The Tune Of The Music Box ~A Moment Of Rest For Mithra~ // Mithra SSR Card Story
CHAPTER 1
(Manor hallway)
Mithra: "<Arthim>"
(Zzziup!)
Akira: "Wh-Whoa?!"
Mithra: "Oh, hello, Master Sage."
Akira: "Hi, and welcome back. Where were you just now?"
Mithra: "The North. I had a craving for some beast meat but was left rather disappointed. I was looking for something nice and chewy but found nothing that satisfied me."
Akira: "I'm sorry to hear that…? But now that you're back, I've got something to ask you."
Mithra: "Let's hear it."
Akira: "So, since your birthday's coming up, I want to invite you to "The Music Box Of Serenity"! It's this tiny box Rustica lent me. It connects to another dimension that's supposed to help wizards relax and ease their mind."
Mithra: "Serenity, you say… I feel like Bradley told me about something with a similar name…"
Akira: "Well, what do you think? I think it's the perfect place to spend your birthday and unwind."
Rutile: "Ah, there you are!"
Akira: "Hey, Rutile, what's the matter?"
Rutile: "Mitile and I are about to head over to the South together with Dr Figaro and Mister Leno! Just thought I'd let you know. There's been a spike in the deer population at the foot of the mountains, so we ought to check it out."
Mithra: "Mmm… Deer… Lucky you."
Rutile & Akira: "Huh?"
Mithra: "I'm going with you."
Akira: "…Are you going there to help?"
Mithra: "Yes. I'll capture a few large ones and have Nero prepare them for me."
Rutile: "I remember you like deer saute, don't you? We'll be feasting tonight! I suppose that is one way to help, though. I'll go and inform Dr Figa–"
Mithra: "There won't be a need for that. I can take us there right away."
Rutile: "Wah!"
Mithra: "<Arthim>"
(Zzziup!)
Grabbing ahold of Rutile by the hood of his coat, Mithra calls forth a door. In a hurry, I yell after them.
Akira: "B-Be careful out there! I'll tell Figaro and the others!"
Rutile: "Thank you, Master Sage! See you later!"
Mithra: "Will ten be enough…?"
Mumbling to himself, Mithra crosses the threshold with Rutile in tow and disappears through the door.
Akira: ("Never change, Mithra…")
CHAPTER 2
(Manor Courtyard)
Akira: "Dinner was great last night. To be honest, I feel like I've eaten enough for a month ahead… (Still, yesterday was as busy as ever, and I couldn't properly invite Mithra. I'll make sure to do that if I see him today…)"
(Rumbling & crashing)
Akira: "…What the…?!"
Mithra: "<Arthim>"
(Poof!)
All of a sudden, a heap of bricks flies over my head, scattering everywhere. Having deflected them, Mithra descends in front of me, his red locks swaying with the wind. He casually turns around and looks back at me.
Mithra: "Don't you have anything better to do than idle around here? You almost got yourself squashed."
Akira: "S-Sorry, I saw the wall crumbling down and kind of… froze in place."
Mithra: "You have Oz to blame for that."
Akira: "Huh? Why?"
Mithra: "I bumped into him in the hallway just now and got the itch to attack him… But right as I was about to strike, he drove me through the wall. What an absolute barbarian."
Akira: "I don't want to say this, but you kind of had it coming--"
Mithra: "Care to repeat that?"
Akira: "Nope, never mind! Thank you for saving me just now. …Ah, M-Mithra! Your arm's bleeding!"
Mithra: "…Ah. One of the bricks must've grazed me."
Akira: "Quick, we have to stop it! Here, use my jacket to wrap the wound…"
Mithra: "That won't be necessary. "
Akira: "…The stains are slowly disappearing…! Is the wound properly closed, too?"
Mithra: "Of course. When will you finally understand that we're not as fragile as you humans?"
Akira: "Ahaha, sorry, I can't help it."
Mithra: "Honestly, the nerve of that guy. The way he flicked me as if I'm a pesky flea or something… One day, I'm going to defeat him for sure, and then I'll be the strongest wizard in the world."
Behind Mithra's usually languid gaze rages a feverish fire. In this moment, he has the air of both a wild beast ready to go berserk and a passionate young man.
Akira: "(He's fantastic with words as always…) You know, I quite like that."
Mithra: "Like what?"
Akira: "Your unwavering will to become the strongest in the world and never giving up no matter what. Of course, I would appreciate it if you didn't get into fights with the others, but…"
Mithra: "Wouldn't that be the opposite of what you just described? I wouldn't be me if I gave up on settling my score with Oz."
Akira: "Yep, that's what makes you, you, and is charming in its own way…"
I found Mithra a bit intimidating the first time we met, but now, I can't look away from him.
As I was trying to figure out the best way to describe Mithra in my head, I call out to him.
Akira: "Mithra, shall we use the "Music Box Of Serenity"? Consider it my unique way of celebrating your birthday!"
CHAPTER 3
(Mithra's room)
It's Mithra's birthday today.
We've changed into the special outfits Chloe prepared for us, looking spick and span.
Akira: "Thank you so much for trusting me on this, Mithra!"
Mithra: "Well… It's better than spending the day idling around, I guess. Is this the so-called "Music Box Of Serenity"?"
Akira: "Yep! Are you all set for the teleportation?"
I place the tiny box on top of the table and close my eyes. I recall all of the unique characteristics that make Mithra who he is that I got to re-experience these past few days.
Akira: "…Take us somewhere fitted for Mithra, who's strong and always true to himself."
The box's lid flicks open, and the little doll of Mithra in the centre begins to spin round and round.
Music comes flowing in from somewhere, and soon, light fills the room…
(Inside the music box)
When we come to, the first thing we hear is a funky yet fickle and somewhat charming melody.
Mithra: "This does feel… oddly relaxing. And the music's quite nice, too."
Akira: "That's the purpose of this dimension. It composes a melody that's supposed to ease the visitor's mind, and, apparently, this is how it perceives you! I think it fits you perfectly. I've also prepared a few extra things…"
Mithra: "Alright, let's see it."
Mithra gives me a half-hearted nod and makes his way to where I was pointing.
Atop a table bathed in warm sunlight streaming through leaves, lays a feast made up of Mithra's favourite dishes, such as charcoal and deer saute.
Mithra: "Wow, you've really outdone yourself."
Akira: "What I respect about you is that you're always true to yourself and what you want. With that image of you in mind, I prepared this hoping that you'll spend the day doing what you do best. And first on the list is, of course, enjoying a hearty feast."
Mithra: "You're absolutely right. Nothing gets done on an empty stomach, after all. I'll gladly eat my way through this. Should I leave you a bite or two?"
Akira: "…What did you just say?"
Mithra: "Here, you can have some charcoal. It smells and looks delicious, doesn't it?"
Akira: "T-Thank you… It's okay though, you can have all of i-- Mmph?!"
Mithra stuffs a big piece of charcoal in my mouth while munching on a piece of his own.
Mithra: "Well?"
Akira: "…It's… good? Is this because we're inside the music box? …Oh, right. There's a super fluffy bed over there, so let me know whenever you want to lie down. If there's anything I can do for you in general, just say the word!"
Mithra: "…"
Akira: "What?"
Mithra: "…You're surprisingly gutsy. I can't tell if you're just being cheeky, but… You're the first person to willingly approach and chat with me so casually. You're even going out of your way to do things for me."
Akira: "(Is he…actually praising me…?)"
Mithra: "And I wouldn't know what to do if you were to die, so… keep it up. Whatever it is that you're doing."
After saying that, Mithra takes my hand in his. All of the charcoal is long gone.
Mithra: "By the way, can I attack anything in here?"
Akira: "W-Why would you want to do that?!"
Mithra: "I've stuffed myself full, so now I've got to stretch a little. Is there anything you don't mind me breaking? What about that big tree over there?"
Akira: "I-I would rather you didn't do that! Rustica let me borrow this, after all…"
An irrepressible flame flickers somewhere deep behind Mithra's eyes as he stares me down.
Mithra: "You said you'd do anything I asked, remember?"
Seeing me break out in cold sweat, Mithra slightly relaxes his gaze.
He appears in a good mood, which tells me the celebration is a success.
Mithra: "Do your best to support me with everything you've got, Master Sage."

The Party's Finale // Card Training Episode
(Hallway)
(Rumbling & crashing)
Akira: "W-What is it now?!"
Mithra: "There you are."
Akira: "Mithra…! What's so urgent that you have to tear my wall down?!"
Mithra: "Destroying a wall is easier than summoning the Door of Space. Anyway, come to my room already. I want to sleep now that the dance party's finally over."
Akira: "You mean the one we threw for your birthday yesterday? It was really fun, but I recall it broke off around nighttime…"
Mithra: "Well, the twins had other plans. They forced me to stay up with them, and they just kept going and going. At one point, I couldn't take it anymore and ended up blowing up the venue."
Akira: "I see… I'm surprised you stayed up that long, even if by force."
Mithra: "There was a lot of food left, and some of the dances included attacking and firing at each other as well, so it wasn't that boring."
Akira: "(How did I manage to sleep through all of that… I sure hope the lounge is intact…)"
Mithra: "Can't they behave and stay in that damn painting during the night at least? Their infliction is too forgiving. Soon enough, I was full and tired of watching those two prance around and randomly firing at Bradley and Owen… So now, I need you to hold my hand and put me to sleep. Come on, let's go."
–––––––––––
Home Voiceline
Mithra: "…Is there anything I want? Not really. If I want something I can take it by force and make it mine. …But since you're asking… I remember you telling me about those 'lullabies' from your world that put people to sleep. Sing one for me. At least on my birthday I want to have a good rest."
Akira: "Well, someone's in a good mood... Should I be worried?"
Owen: "Hehe. Here, hold this string above the hole in this ice slab."
Akira: "Oh, you want me to ice fish? Can you even fish in this lake?"
Owen: "Just hold the string."
Akira: "..... Do you mind showing me how to do it exactly?"
Owen: "Are you really that wary of me? How mean, Master Sage. And here I was trying to show you how to have fun around here."
Akira: "That's not..."
Owen: "Oh, but I bet if it were the Prince or Sir Knight offering you wouldn't even think about it. Whatever I have done to make you treat me like this."
Akira: "...Alright, I'll hold it."
Owen: "Good. Now, you have to whistle and if you can't, humming is fine too. Just make some kind of noise to call it over."
Akira: "Call over... what?"
Owen: "Less talking, more whistling."
Akira: "I swear you're planning something... Fwe~et..."
Owen: "..."
Akira: "Nothing's happening..."
Owen: "No way, give me that."
Akira: "Will you tell me what's supposed to happen?"
Owen: "An archerfish that gets triggered by noise is supposed t fly out of the water. A stab in the neck from it can kill."
Akira: "Sounds pretty dangerous, don't you think?"
(Owen whistling)
Owen: "... Nothing. I can sit and whistle here all day and it probably won't come out. Has it gone extinct in these past couple years?"
Akira: "What are you making, Rutile? Is it medicine?"
Rutile: "Oh, hi, Master Sage. I'm trying my hand at one of Mister Mithra's spells. You're supposed to grind a bunch of ingredients with a stone mill until you get a fine powder. I asked him if I could use his centuries-old mill and he said yes!"
Akira: "Wow, good for you! It's rare for him to agree to something like that. What's the powder made out of?"
Rutile: "A lizard, a frog, tooth of a snake, puffer fish liver, silk tree, peach tree, red beans, ice and soil from the Land of the Dead, mirror shards, and also..."
Mithra: "That's everything. Please try to remember it as I have taught you."
Akira: "And what's this white thing?"
Mithra: "A rib. Truth be told, it's best if it comes from a living being, but unfortunately, we don't have any at our disposal right now."
Rutile & Akira: "From a...what...?"
Mithra: "Once it's fully ground, you sprinkle it at your target's doorstep. After they die, you have to bury them, but keep in mind that the body will begin to move in three days, so you’ll have to repeat it..."
Rutile & Akira: "...Repeat it?"
Rutile: "Um, isn't this supposed to be the spell that lets you manipulate bones?"
Mithra: "What? Don't be silly. The methodology for that one is entirely different and it's done next to water. If that's the one you wanted to learn, you should've said so earlier. Come over here."
Rutile: "But I did tell you! And I'd rather you didn't make me use all sorts of scary ingredients..."
Mithra: "They're not scary. Come on, let's go over there. Ah, right, this powder has one more usage..."
Akira: ("Mithra's oddly considerate today. He even looks like he's having fun... He must be happy to teach someone the spells he's practised all by himself so many times...")
Akira: "Seems like the village that once existed here is all wiped out by now."
Snow: "It would appear thus."
Akira: "Do you happen to know what kind of relationship the villagers and Mithra used to have back then? If they had one at all, that's is."
Snow: "While I cannot give you any details, I'm certain they saw him as the God of Death that descended upon them whenever someone fell into the embrace of eternal slumber. Unlike us, he did not grant the land his protection and came and went as he pleased. At times, he would steal, while at others, he would be benevolent, and ever so oblivious to any and all common sense. The humans never understood him, so to them, he might have been a resident of the Land of the Dead."
Akira: "I see..."
Snow: "Hohoho, it must be because Mithra's magic involves manipulating bones and the kind. A long time ago, there used to be a young maiden who claimed to be in love with Mithra. And, in order for them to live together at the Land of the Dead, she threw herself into the freezing lake. Needless to say, the poor girl met her end."
Akira: "How...How can that be... What did Mithra do then?"
Snow: "He picked up her body and brought her to the island. Nothing special to his usual ferryman duties. To tell you the truth, White and I love this story. That young lady was dedicated, incessant, her tale tragic yet comedic, one could mistake her for a wizard."
Akira: ".....Why do I feel like somebody's watching us from the island..."
Bradley: "The one in the middle? What did that guy call it again? 'Land o' the Dead' or somethin'? Name speaks fer itself - it's got lotsa bones buried in it. Bet they're lookin' at us alive an' kickin' folk. They must know they ain't part of our world."
Akira: "...So it's true that you can feel the presence of those from beyond?"
Bradley: "Sumtimes. I mean it’s never zero but they ain’t runnin’ rampant either, y’know, there's gotta be a balance.”
Akira: "I know the people buried there are long gone, yet somehow that place feels...dangerous."
Bradley: "Yer gut ain't wrong 'bout that. There's definitely guys who believe they're hot shit precisely 'cuz they've crossed the border. An' there's those who ain't satisfied with just a burial and go on to wander forever."
Akira: "Mhm..."
Bradley: "That's 'cuz Mithra fucks around too much over there. I can tell all the way from 'ere he's cast quite the number of spells. I'm sure the guys buried there don' even know who and what they are, and that's what's drivin' 'em nuts. At the end of the day though, it's Mithra who's keepin' the place from bein' a total wreck."
Akira: "Does sound like a scary place to find yourself in..."
Bradley: "Listen, I know he invited ya an' all, but are ya sure ya wanna go? Like, fer real?"
Mithra: "You know, one time, on my way to the cemetery, the corpse I was carrying turned to stone."
Akira: "To stone? Like...mana?"
Mithra: "Yes. It was kept at the shore, but once I mounted it on the boat, I noticed its aura had changed. When I unwrapped the cloth, the body had turned to stone."
Akira: "If that happened then...that would mean that person was a wizard, right?"
Mithra: "Precisely. That was the first time I had seen a mana stone. I wonder what I did with it afterwards... Maybe I ate it, or maybe I didn't know it could be eaten. I don't remember anymore."
Akira: "..... Do wizards turn to stone over time after they die?"
Mithra: "No. The moment a wizard dies, they crystallise and shatter at once."
Akira: "..... Then that means... when you were carrying them on the boat, they were still..."
Mithra: "Are you alright, Master Sage? You almost became that fish's lunch."
Akira: "... Cough, cough...! T-Thank you for saving me... I-I feel like some... creature suddenly came out of the lake and dragged me in...?! This lake is beautiful, but it does have its... dangerous parts..."
Mithra: "That's why I had to work as a ferryman for the villages in the area since it's too dangerous for humans to cross the lake. Whenever someone passed away, the villagers would light a fire at the shore at night. That's how I knew I had to come and get the body. I grew up on the island in the middle of the lake, but I found the flickering reflection of the fire rather beautiful. But whenever the lake would freeze over, I had to tie a rope to a sleigh to pull the bodies with, which was very troublesome, and I hated it."
Akira: "....."
Mithra: "You can freely swim in the lake when it's not frozen, though. The waters are deep and clear, and you can see the bottom. It's cold all year round and is very pleasant. Are you good at swimming, Master Sage? ..Master Sage? Are you listening? ..... <Arthim>"
Akira: "..... Haah... Ha..."
Mithra: "Please tell me whenever you freeze up. And considering you almost drowned earlier, I'm going to assume you can't swim."
Akira: "..... T-Thank you again, Mithra..."
Mithra: "Don't mention it. If you were to die here, I would have to be the one to carry you over to the Land of the Dead. That doesn't sound that bad now that I think about it ."
Akira: "How long have you been a Sage's Wizard for, Mithra?"
Mithra: "Hmm, I wonder... I don't believe it's been a thousand, but at least five hundred years have passed. I feel like I've been a Sage's Wizard for about half of my life, but if that's not the case, then I'm not too sure how long it's been myself either."
Option: You're a veteran, huh.
Mithra: "Of course, it's been a bother since the very beginning. However, if I tried to skip my duties, the twins and Chiletta wouldn't stop nagging me. At first, I did as told without thinking about it too much, but after about a hundred years, I realised I was essentially helping save the world. I tried to quit at one point, as I was strong enough to defeat the twins, but it was then that I understood how the world truly works. That if we fail to defeat the Calamity and don't send it back in the sky, the world will perish."
Option: Feels overwhelming, doesn't it?
Mithra: "Northern wizards are quite strong, so once chosen, they're very rarely replaced. I can count on one hand the wizards who tried taking on the role after me. I even ended up turning one of them to stone."
Akira: "...What…Why?”
Mithra: "I recall we disagreed over something. ...You look like you're about to give me a lecture, and if that's the case, I'm going home."
Akira: "Ah, no, that's not it!"
Akira: "You've been doing a great job not abandoning your post all this time, Mithra."
Mithra: "Well, yes, if the world were to go down, I would be going with it too."
Akira: "And what do you think of the Great Calamity?"
Mithra: "I can't confidently call it weak or strong, so I don't know. But honestly, what is that thing? If it's some strong wizard, killing it would certainly make me stronger, but that doesn't appear to be the case... The once-a-year grand appearance certainly leaves the impression of some big shot, though."
Akira: "I know you were born and raised here in the North, but have you been to any of the other countries before?"
Mithra: "I only went to Central country every year to fight the Calamity. I learned teleportation magic particularly for that one occasion, since I couldn't be bothered to constantly fly back and forth. As for the other countries, I only visited if Chiletta brought me along. I wonder if that was her idea of sightseeing."
Akira: "Yep, traveling can be pretty fun! But since you grew up here, you must like the North the most, right?"
Mithra: "I do. This country has the most energy, you see."
Akira: "...Energy?"
Mithra: "Energy."
Akira: "...Despite there being so few people?"
Mithra: "Oh, right. I suppose you wouldn't understand what I’m referring to. It's the viridity of the soil. I feel the energy and touch of spirits, so you could say this place and I are made for each other."
Option: How do you find the Western or Eastern country?
Mithra: "The East is susurrant, and it constantly feels like it's morning. Also, the people and spirits are an absolute spoilsport."
Akira: "What about the West then? If energy is what you're looking for, that's the perfect place to find it."
Mithra: "Yeah, it's so good that it comes with its own kind of trouble. Not to mention that spirits there won't answer you no matter how much you call for them. The West especially is such pandemonium, it tires me out. Oh well, wherever I may be, I get everyone to obey me, either way, so."
Option: How do you find the Southern or Central country?
Mithra: "I don't do well in the South since it's so flaky and humid. The Central country is surprisingly pleasant, though."
Akira: "With a birthplace like the North, I'm sure Central country does feel like you can take it easy."
Mitile: "Well, until I met him, I trusted what Niki-sama said and used to think he was cool..."
Akira: "And what do you think now that you've finally gotten to know him?"
Mitile: "Honestly... I don't like how vulgar and scary he is, not to mention his poor manners and that he's a Northern wizard... But, he may not be that bad if he's willing to keep his promise to mum."
Akira: "I agree that he can be a little unpredictable, but I wouldn't call him scary."
Mitile: "Mhm... Last time, he accompanied me to the marketplace because he thought it would be dangerous if I went alone. He could've been nicer about it, though. In the middle of our journey there he told me I was going too slow and forced me to ride on the back of his broom."
Akira: ("Sounds like Mithra, alright...")
Mitile: "He is surprisingly steady on his broom, considering how fast he is. Reminds me of the way Nii-sama flies. But flying with Mister Mithra can be pretty comfortable, and for a moment, I even thought he was kind of cool, being very powerful and all..."
Akira: "He might've been extra careful with you since his way of flying is indeed rather...wild."
Mitile: "If he really did that just for me, then he might be an exception among Northern wizards... Ah, b-but please don't tell anyone I said that, and especially not to Mister Mithra!"

Rather Than Wishing Upon A Star In Vain // Mithra SSR Card Story
CHAPTER 1
(City of Stella)
As I wandered around the stalls throughout the festival, I felt a familiar figure approach me.
Akira: "Hi, Mithra!"
Mithra: "Good evening, Master Sage."
Akira: "Since we're both here, shall we browse around together?"
Mithra: "Sure, why not. I haven't got much to do anyways..."
Mitile: "Heave-ho!"
(Smack)
Mitile: "Aww, missed again... This is difficult..."
Hearing a certain someone's voice, we turned our heads towards one of the stands. There, we saw Mitile trying his utmost to score at one of the festival's games.
Akira: "Hey, Mitile, what's up?"
Mitile: "Oh! Hello, Master Sage! And Mister Mithra... I've been trying to throw this ball for so long, but I can't seem to do it right."
Mitile: "Apparently, if you manage to hit any of the prizes hung on the platform, you get to take it home with you. But..."
Akira: "Alright then, let me give it a try! Which one do you want?"
Mitile: "That bag on the right! It's got lots and lots of star-shaped konpeito in it!"
Mithra: "I can just get it for you, you know."
Mitile: "Y-You can...?"
Mithra: "All I have to do is throw the ball at it, right?"
Mitile: "P-Pretty much, yeah. Here, you aim it like thisー"
Mithra: "<Arthim>"
Akira: "Whoa, the ball's floating!"
Mitile: "M-Mister Mithra, you can't do that! It's against the rules..."
Upon witnessing Mithra use magic, the stall's owner abruptly yelled out in distress.
Mithra: "Well, yes, I am. I am Mithra of the North."
Stall Owner: "Mithra o' the North... I reckon I've heard that name before... They say yer a heinous tyrant, the devil incarnate himself...!"
Mithra: "Heh, you know me quite well it seems."
Akira: "(I should step in, shouldn't I...) H-He's also a Sage's Wizard, among other... things."
Akira: "Mithra's not one to resort to violence without rhyme or reason. As the Sage, I can personally vouch for that."
Stall Owner: "Aha... So yer the Sage? Well, not that I'd know even if ye were lyin' to me, but yer quite the character, millin' about with them wizards."
Stall Owner: "Ah, whatever. I suppose wizards from other countries don' really have a reason to be conning us folk. Go on, play all ya like."
Stall Owner: "That goes for ya too, lil' mister."
Mitile: "T-Thank you, sir!"
Though still slighty wary, the owner took the ball from the cage and offered it to us.
Mithra: "Good. Now, let's see..."
Mithra: "<Arthiー>"
Mitile: "Umー! Just a moment... please."
CHAPTER 2
Mithra: "What is it this time? Don't you want that sack anymore?"
Mithra: "I'm going to get it for you in a bit, so just stay put, will you?"
Mitile: "I... Appreciate that, but this still feels like cheating, and I don't like that..."
Mitile: "So, I'm going to get it myself! Without magic!"
Mithra: "Goodness gracious... Nevermind."
Mithra undid the spell he had cast upon the ball. It fell and rolled on the ground, a stone's throw away from the target.
Mithra: "This is what I get for trying to be nice. How utterly vexing."
Mithra: "Oh well, not like I cared about this in the first place."
Mitile: "...Thank you, Mister Mithra. Now, watch closely. I'm going to hit it on the first tryー!"
(Some time later…)
Mitile: "Heave-ho!!"
Akira: "Mitile! You got it!"
Mitile: "Hooray!"
After many strenuous attempts, the ball finally hit the target. Having successfully acquired his prize, a satisfied smile graced Mitile's face.
Mitile: "Look, Master Sage! I got it! I really got it!"
Akira: "That's amazing, Mitile!"
Mitile: "Eheheh! I should also thank you, Mister Mithra! See, I was able to get it with my own two hands!"
Mithra: "I still don't get it. It would've been so much quicker if you had simply used magic."
Mitile: "That's true, but putting effort into making your wishes come true feels much more rewarding..."
Akira: "You wished for something, Mitile?"
Mitile: "Mhm. I heard that if you get a bunch of star-shaped things at this festival, your will get your wishes granted."
Mitile: "That's why I really wanted this bag full of konpeito. ...Here you are."
Akira: "Aw, Mitile... Are you sure you want me to have this?"
Mithra: "I'm beginning to think you didn't really want this if you're willing to share it."
Mitile: "You two stayed by my side and encouraged me to continue, so... It's only right that I give you some as thanks."
Mitile: "I'm going to look for more stars, then! See you!"
(Distancing footsteps)
And with that, Mitile skittered away merrily, the bag of konpeito tightly clutched to his chest.
Akira: "Sounds kind of romantic, doesn’t it? Collecting star-shaped things to get your wishes granted, I mean."
Mithra: "Do you actually believe that? Surely there are other, more practical ways to get what you want."
Mithra: "You have Mithra of the North standing right before you. Anything you want, I can make it come true."
Akira: "...You will do that? For me?"
Mithra: "Of course. There's nothing I can't do. Come on, ask for something. Say, anyone you want me to do away with?"
Akira: "No, I don't have anyone like that... Um, I'm a little thirsty, so if you could get me something to drink..."
Mithra: "<Arthim>"
Mithra: "Interesting. It appears Nero's making some concoction out of pressed fruits. I'll go and get it for you."
Akira: "J-Just like that?! A-Ask him first, perhaps...?"
Mithra: "He won't mind. Anything else?"
Akira: "Well... I've been walking around for a while, and I'm a little tired, so it'd be nice if I could sit down for a minute."
Mithra: "As you wish. <Arthim>"
CHAPTER 3
Akira: "Is this... A chair from the manor's dining hall?"
Mithra: "It is. Since you're used to sitting on it, I thought it'd be the best choice."
Akira: ("That's true, but... I wonder if anyone's been sitting on it until now...")
Mithra: "Come on, take a seat. What would you like next?"
Akira: "That will be all. Thank you, Mithra."
Mithra: "Really? You're satisfied with this little?"
Rather malcontent, Mithra's dark-green eyes wander off to the stall we were at earlier.
Mithra: "Since you said you wanted to collect those start things, I assume there's still something you want?"
Akira: "Well, yea, it sounded interesting, so it made me want to try it for myself."
Akira: "But, rather than collecting them to have my wish granted, I'd like to collect them for the fun of it..."
Akira: "Mitile looked so happy when he got that bag of konpeito. I mean, how can he not. They're so sparkly and pretty, just like little stars."
Mithra: "...I see. You should've said so sooner."
Mithra: "<Arthim>"
(Woosh)
(Somewhere up in the sky)
Before I knew it, Mithra had seated us atop his broom. Glancing upwards, we saw the night sky, adorned with millions of stars, in all its stellar glory.
Akira: "...Wow...!"
Mithra: "You wanted the stars, right? Is this good enough?"
Prompted by Mithra's words, I reached out my hand towards the sky. Beyond my fingertips, the stars shone like polished jewels.
Amidst a sky so dreadfully dark you could get lost in it, never to return, the stars bestowed a gentle, soothing glow from afar.
Akira: "...It's so, so beautiful... I feel like if I just keep reaching out like this, I could actually grab one..."
Akira: "If I had this many stars, my wishes would all come true in the matter of seconds... Thank you for bringing me here, Mithra."
Mithra: "No need to. This is the least I can do."
A perfunctory answer typical for Mithra. And yet, his voice was laced with the faintest bit of mirth.
Mithra: "Now you know that should you ever want anything, you can come and find me."
Mithra: "I will grant you whatever it is you may want, and much better than some petty star."
Akira: "...Mm, I will. Next time I think of something, I'll definitely ask you first."
Mithra: "...If you insist."
Mithra turned around. In his eyes, I could see the reflection of the stars.
Captivated by those little luminaries said to grant one's wishes, I didn't dare blink, for I wanted to remember this view forever.
Mithra's Wish // Card Training Episode
(Manor Lounge)
Akira: "Thank you for going along with my caprices last time, Mithra."
Mithra: "You didn't ask for who-knows-what, so there's nothing to thank me for."
Akira: "Still, it made me very happy. And now, it's my turn to do something for you."
Mithra: "You mean to tell me you can grant a wish of mine?"
Mithra: "What if I asked you to make me the strongest in the world? Or to bring me the greatest legendary beast there is, so I can eat it and fill my stomach for centuries to come?"
Akira: "U-Um, perhaps something a human like me can do... For example, I could cook you your favourite meal!"
Mithra: "Hm. Let's go to my room then."
Akira: "You want me to... cook in your room? I mean, why not, I need to fetch a few ingredients firstー..."
Mithra: "We can do that later. The things you can do for me can be counted on one hand."
Mithra: "If you want to do something for me that badly, put me to sleep, please."
Homescreen Voiceline
Mithra: "No matter how long or hard you wish upon a star, there's no proof that what you want will come true. Stop wasting your time and come here. I trust you haven't forgotten you have a duty at night. If you like the stars so much, I'll simply give you some of my sugar."
