You know what struck me with Legacy Day? That Apple didn’t get to see what happened after Raven was “defeated” despite being shown in Raven’s future (nor have a reaction to Raven’s chained image? You’d think she’d at least gasp in horror at seeing her friend’s future). I wonder if it is the same for all the Royals? That they have no clue as to the future awaiting the antagonists of their stories?
If so, Apple’s reaction in saying that Raven’s selfish rather than gasping in horror at the pictures makes somewhat sense; Apple might believe that Raven will be free to do her own thing after the poisoned apple, and that Raven is maliciously putting Apple’s (and the Kingdom’s) Happily Ever After on the line because Raven “selfishly” wants to live her own life right now (or, you know, being an Evil Queen person).
And didn’t someone say that there was something up with that book? Maybe the Royal/Rebel conflict will be resolved when the two sides see exactly what the others saw in that book (Royals realize that the HEAs don’t extend to their friends, and the Rebels learning that the Royals aren’t knowingly trying to force them into Bad Endings).
