I would like to rant about how Hydrangea's recent dialogue is not only OOC for her, but it pretty much contradicts the previous characterization of her.
First her saying this in such manner to her master contradicts Hydrangea's ongoing trait of being highly devoted to her master, she would die for them if must, so her having her the tone that she speaks towards cookies (esp cookies she doesn't like (like Bellflower)) doesn't match.
"oh but wasnt she mean towards then in the early chapters of the dragon story?" No actually, while her lack of formality can be seen as rude we must take into account how Lotus and Hydrangea are to each other, and as Mala Sauce has put it, they seemed like good friends. Hydrangea and Lotus are so close to each other, and care for each other so much, that formalities just seem like something that's more bothersome, esp for someone like Hydrangea.
and we can further prove that Lotus deeply cares about Hydrangea by just looking at this line alone.
the manner of speech that Hydrangea did in the recent dialogue to Lotus, is something that she would do to cookies she doesn't like (like Purple Yam or Bellflower), but even cookies she is neutral to (like GingerBrave) also catch strays.
"But what if she doesn't take any tragedy seriously?" that can apply to many cookies, But the Lotus Dragon? No she takes it VERY seriously, and a great example of the is the scene where Snake Fruit tells their riddle for her and Alchemist to solve.
You see, when Snake Fruit reveals that their riddle is based off of how Lotus is the remaining flower dragon after Alchemist connects the dots, Hydrangea's mood quickly sours.
To her, Snake Fruit using Lotus's tragedy for a riddle is like joking about someone's trauma of having your whole community killed while you were a soul survivor Her mood is so potent that Snake Fruit doesn't dare speak another word to Alchemist's questions because of her.
Who knows what she would have done, but seeing how she can strike fear into a being eons old that dealt with worse, should tell you just how seriously she take's Lotus's tragedy. And even if we go to say that she may not know the full picture, that alone should tell you that she does not talk things lightly when its Lotus's tragedy which makes the recent dialogue much more disgusting.
the same woman that would die to have Lotus not worry about a thing, the same woman that would town down her mean and cold demeanor when its about Lotus dragon, the same woman that would give Snake Fruit an early shed for even THINKING of doing that riddle, wouldn't say this.
and its even worse when the beginning was very in character for her, because to me, their ways of drinking tea showcases Snake Fruit's and Hydrangea's differences with how they are as characters.
So having to see that dreaded dialogue after a beginning that was fully in character for her, makes me dread her next appearance, because now i fear that devsis is going to flanderize her and town her 3 dimensionality down to just sassy, lazy, mean and dumb servant.
and the last adjective is there because i bet you rainbow cubes that she would at least be aware of why her master suddenly stopped talking mid sentence, let alone know why they did it and checking up on them.
And i don't expect Hydrangea to be dramatic about it, that would be OOC too, i don't expect her sympathy for her master to be dilled up to 11, but i at least expect Hydrangea to be aware and even supportive to her master especially after such graphic descriptions of their trauma.
Over all, now i'm in a situation, where i fear that she would be permanently flanderized, and hearing that it has happened when they invited a kingdom writer doesn't ease me...
(and here's evidence that they weren't there before)
And while at the end of the day, the writers are human, i will not take such sharp dip in quality lightly.
