Safer Internet Day

Today is Safer Internet Day 

Safer Internet Day is organized by InSafe (-a European network of Awareness Centres promoting safe, responsible use of the Internet and mobile devices to young people) to promote safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially amongst children and young people across the world.

Safer Internet Day 2013 will be the tenth edition of the event, and will take place on Tuesday 5 February 2013. The theme for the day is 'Online rights and responsibilities', when we will encourage users to 'Connect with respect'.

Safer Internet Day (SID) activities in Canada are coordinated by the Canadian Centre for Child Protection.

This Safer Internet Day, February 5, the Canadian Centre has developed new Internet safety resources for parents. Information about healthy relationships and appropriate boundaries, online luring, as well as the growing issue of sexting is included in the Canadian Centre's educational activities, brochures, online resources and new e-parenting safety sheets for parents of teens.

The new e-parenting safety sheets  will address issues and concerns parents may be facing right now with regard to their adolescent’s online safety.
