Spotted: June/July beauty favorites.
Nothing quite compares to the feeling of a fresh, smooth face in the morning and whether used at night or morning Lush’s face & body scrub Let The Good Times Roll does just that! This gentle exfoliator works wonders on my oily/combination skin by leaving it glowing and moisturized. With its butter-caramel scent, this exfoliating cleanser will leave your skin feeling smooth and hydrated. Depending on its size, this vegan face and body cleanser ranges from $12.95-$31.95. This product can be found at lushusa.com and in Lush boutiques.
Good drugstore powders are seemingly everywhere however, Maybelline’s Fit Me! Matte + Poreless Powder has been my go to powder for most of this year. I find that no matter the foundation this powder sits on top smoothly, giving off a flawless look. This specific line of powder is designed to keep shine away during the day, however I can not agree that it lasts the whole 12 hours it is advertised to. While it does keep my face matte for most of the day, as with most powders, touch ups are needed. Oily or not, this powder is still my go to and I would recommend trying it if you are in the market for a new powder. The Fit Me! powder comes in 12 shades and can be found at your local drugstore, Target, Ulta, etc. for around $8.
Whether inspired by Lady Gaga or a hit to Maybelline’s “Maybe she’s born with it…” slogan, Too Faced’s Born This Way foundation as taken the spotlight. This oil-free foundation is designed to blur more lines than Robin Thicke. Advertised as a medium to full coverage foundation, Born This Way has become a new It product. From my experience, this foundation has proven to have a few tricks up its sleeves when it comes to achieving the flawless coverage everyone is raving about. After applying a day serum, light moisturizer and MUFE’s smoothing primer, I apply this foundation with either a dry beauty blender or dense foundation brush. I found that a damp beauty blender left the application splotchy and light coverage. In all I would highly recommend using a primer before using this foundation. Color wise, this foundation in the shade Pearl was a perfect match for me. The best thing about this product is the variety of shades (18) varying from very pale with neutral to pink or golden undertones to deep with neutral to pink or golden undertones. This 1.0 oz foundation can be found at toofaced.com or at Sephora and Ulta instore or online.
Recently, Urban Decay has stepped up its highlighting game and created 3 highlighters. The Afterglow 8-Hour Powder Highlighter’s are finely milled to create a long lasting glow to any look. In short this highlighter is exactly the luxury highlighter you have been looking for. My personal favorite shade is Sin, as well as its siblings Fireball and Aura are priced less than most of its competitors at $26. Check out urbandecay.com, Sephora or Ulta for these stunning highlighters. While an Industrial-Strength Concealer is the furthest from something I would want to put anywhere near my skin, Benefit Cosmetics’ Boi-ing isn’t playing around. Real Talk: at first I hated Boi-ing and I threw it into my box of misfit concealers. About a week ago I came across this product in my collection and decided to give it another go, and I’m obsessed. I used this concealer after priming under my eyes and then proceeding to set it with a translucent powder. Not only does this product cover up discoloration under my eyes, but once set with a powder IT DOES NOT CREASE. I REPEAT, THIS IS NOT A DRILL, IT DOES NOT CREASE. A free sample sent down from the heavens to cure my under eye woes, I am pleasantly surprised and will definitely purchase the full size. Seriously pick up this concealer ASAP. While it is sold 0.1 oz for $20, I promise its worth it. You know the drill in where to find this product I’m sure. :)
Alright now to the honorable mentions of this month, or as I like to call them, Bonus Jonas’. The brush shown is Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Duo Brush #12 and this brush makes eyebrow shopping a breeze! ($18, ulta.com) Also shown is Hask’s Argan Oil Reparing Shine Oil Vial. For only $2.99 you can get this 0.61 oz ‘Miracle Oil’ at Target or Ulta. I use this product on my damp hair a few times a week and it keeps my hair shiny and frizz free throughout the week.
This is the eye makeup look that I recreated today and I somehow made it work without using any of the same products, well except for the Kat Von D Trooper liner but I mean who doesn’t use that liner? And I know the rule “pics or it didn’t happen” but getting a decent close up of my eye makeup with my iPhone proved to be just as impossible as it was for Kim Kardashian to find her diamond earring in the ocean. So I’m just going to leave it at that.
