1000 posts!
This is just a rant post ngl
Holland March is a scumbag, something we all know and love him for. But UGH he's such a interesting character.
I just finished reading The Nice Guys novel, and it gives some extra insights to Holland.
Healy is jealous of March, because March doesn't realize just how good he has it. And oh boy is he right.
Holland cheated on his wife, maybe once, maybe multiple times, but either way he did. He would come home late, barely able to stand because he was so drunk. All this she knew, and she loved him anyway. She believed in absolutes and to her Holland March was an absolute. And he loved her, and only her.
Holland is a pervert who looks at women and thinks about them boning him. He planted evidence when he was a cop so that a strip club he liked didn't lose business, putting an innocent guy behind bars for years. He scams old rich people out of their money and has his 13 year old daughter drive him around to bars so he can get drunk.
He's a shitty parent, Holly knows it, Holland knows it, everyone knows it, but despite that, Holly loves her dad and feels a sense of pride whenever he actually achieves something. Whenever she's in a scary situation, she imagines what her dad would do. She trusts that despite being a man who never follows through and breaks promises, would never break one he made to her.
And Holland would do anything to protect his little girl.
Hell even Healy himself cares for March, even if it's just a bit. He finds Holland to be a pain in the neck, an asshole, a deadbeat, but still, he can't help but think that he's still a nice guy. He protects March, jumping in to save him even if that means putting himself in danger. He cares for March's daughter, developing a soft spot for her. And continues to partner with March, despite calling him the "worlds worst detective" and forming The Nice Guys agency.
Holland March is an asshole, alcoholic, deadbeat, pervert, cheater, scammer, and coward. He knows this and hates himself for it. But despite this, he has people who love him unconditionally. And I'm not entirely sure March knows that
Healy's right. He really does have it good.
Anyways I just wanted to rant about March, I may also do a rant in Healy cause boy oh boy he's a character too.
marchly is like orange cat x rottweiler instead of black cat x golden retriever
okay so Holland March of the nice guys concept born of I have been an alcoholic core. how does he remove the weird lil inner layer of his liquor bottles I'm assuming they had the same stupid lil slow pour shit they got today so. does March have a weird switchblade for this (mine has hello Kitty on the handle) does he chew that shit off is he prying it off with a screwdriver I need Holland March himself to split a new bottle of whiskey with me cause I wanna pick apart what kind of alcoholic he is lmaooooo (also I wanna rock his shit with prebiotic soda but that's different lol)
Dude I feel like March may have a switchblade. Maybe use it if he's sober. But drunk? He'd end up injuring himself with it or forget or lose it somewhere, maybe get it confiscated by Holly or Healy.
He'd probably try and chew it off, fail, injure his lip, then grab the closest thing around him and impatiently poke at it until it just pops INTO the whiskey. Shrug. And just drink it like that.
Hell maybe even Healy would walk by and SOMEHOW use his thumb to pop it in for Holland. And if Holland complains Healy would just be like "It still pours doesn't it?" And Holland would just stare for a minute before probably mumbling something, maybe some curses, but still drinking it cause damnit that's kinda hot and damnit it's still alcohol.
Now there's an idea.
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Healy realizes he doesn't know March at all, really. His newest case: find out everything about him.
(post-canon, fluff, found family, 5+1)
five times healy learns something about march, and one time march learns something about him!
a gift for my friend toastbunny. she wanted me to get into the goslingverse! i think she meant project hail mary but we ended up here. anyway, here's wonderwall
beach episode ☀️
healymarch nation hypothetically how would we feel about power bottom march
Hc that holland march got caught making out with a guy in the back of his car when he was in high school and “fag” basically became his second name for the rest of the time he spent in his hometown
And that boy in high school happened to be the last man holland let himself fall in love with before he met healy all those many years later. He knows that loving a man is dangerous and could ruin his reputation and has in the past so he has extremely heavy internalized homophobia and doesn’t let himself explore that side of his bisexuality until he can’t avoid it anymore.
One day he hears holly say the f slur, not really knowing what it means, only knowing it as an insult that kids hurl at each other, and he gets more mad at her than he’s ever been before. She doesn’t understand why. She doesn’t understand how much it hurts to hear her say that
A nornal night in the family of Holly Healy and Holland. (Should I call it Triple H family——H³
Amazing things happening here
"Sometimes, you just win." -Holland March
AUGHH this movie has truly consumed my life. Been awhile since I've drawn in this style.
<3 this man
I have so many ideas for them :,) I have yet to draw or write out ughhh I need to find the time to do them 🙈🤕❤️🩹
After properly watching The Nice Guys, I can confidently say that Healy would have a look of genuine mourning on his face as he admits to liking Holland even a little bit LMAO 10/10 would say he is “unfortunately attracted to a man” while Holland drinks in the background. Holly has two dads now. Phenomenal
Aaaand it’s done!! Super happy with how this one turned out!
Holland March has a headache recently and he knows the reason clearly.
