Alan Carter has a keen interest in replacing lost teeth. He placed his first implant in 1986 after training in Manchester and Germany and since then has carried out over 500 implants. Alan routinely places the implants in the practice but also works with a colleague, Paul Tran, on the more complex cases. Alan is able to help patients with a spectrum of treatments from the replacement of a single lost tooth to the fixing of a loose denture with implants. Alan qualified in Edinburgh in 1974.

Patients just beginning to think about dental implant treatment may find it helpful to have a complimentary preliminary consultation with Dr Carter. This appointment does not include a clinical examination and it only takes 15 minutes. The discussion will help you consider the options for treating your dental problems and decide whether to proceed to a clinical consultation for implants. The preliminary consultation is free of charge for visitors enquiring through this website. Please use the button in the right hand column to request an appointment.
Once you have decided in principle that you want implant treatment, the next step is a clinical consultation. This includes a comprehensive oral examination, and results in production of a fully-costed individual plan for your treatment. The fee for the clinical assessment appointment and provision of your personal treatment plan is £72 including X-rays. The cost of the treatment planning consultation is refunded when you proceed with the treatment.

"Previously I had a front upper 4-tooth bridge which snapped earlier this year. Dr. Carter evaluated the need to either repair the bridge or replace with implants. Jointly we agreed on the implant solution. Dr. carter and his staff were very reassuring, professional and explained all procedures clearly and efficiently throughout. As recovery time progressed and the implants fitted I was surprised how simple and effective the latter part of the process is. Dr Carter continually reassured and accurately described the process as we progressed throughout the treatment. For me the comfort the implants provide compared to false teeth / plates etc. is fantastic. Although it is early days the confidence to eat properly using all of the molars is wondrous and the immediate sense of taste is a delight to experience again.
