Who the heck is my muse anyway:
SIBYL PETYR is an ancient bloodwitch ( or vampwitch, succu-witch, whatever floats your boat ) from anglo - saxon england. she differs from other vampires because she wasn’t turned ; she was cursed, rather, by the old lord marduk, who gave to her the ultimate kiss of doom. since the day of her mortal death in 798 AD, she’s traveled across the world & assembled a small, close - knit bloodwitch coven ---- the coven lives together in new orleans, a modern - day haven for the undead.
Points of interest:
what will immediately jump out, so to speak, about sibyl is her skin, especially when hungry -- she’s pale, almost sickly green, & purplish cobwebs of veins adorn her face and hands. she’s also quite tall, standing at five feet & eleven inches. as for her teeth, her canines & outermost incisors are just slightly fanged, & these fangs are not rectractable.
What they’ve been up to recently:
lately, sibyl’s been using magick to recover memories of her mortal life & studying the lore of her kind. she likes to write, paint, & garden.
Where to find them:
very verse dependent as she’s been alive for so long. nowadays, you can find her in her garden district home or exploring the french quarter beneath the full moon. from the eighth to the tenth century, she remained in england, but by the eleventh century she’d grown restless & began her travels. she didn’t settle in one place until the mid - sixteenth century, at which point she chose a quaint venetian apartment to live in. by the late eighteenth century, she’d moved to paris, where she met the valdís twins, & then by 1846 sibyl found herself in her permanent new orleans home. she continues to travel, though, so you can literally put her in any place on earth & it’ll make sense.

i would absolutely love some more vampy / undead friends for sybil, so anything creepy like that ! sib also rly gets around smh so building up a shippy relationship would b cool too . there’s always like, the classique interview w/ the vampire scenario that i’m personally a hoe for, u know, the mortal being fascinated by the undead & asking a bunch of innocent questions.

sibyl’s ancient & very wise, but she’s a sloppy feeder, so she could easily feed from your muse intending to drain them only for ur muse to survive with little more than two swollen puncture - wounds ---- they could run after sibyl b/c they’re pissed ‘cause now it looks like they’ve got a fucked up hickey, or maybe ‘cause they want her to turn them, or idk.
since sib’s such a lovey, we could set up a romantic relationship between our muses ! if your muse is undead / a vampire, they could be dramatic & awful together & go on hunts together. OR if ur muse is a mortal, we could get really angsty bc a.) sibyl either wouldn’t turn ur muse because ur muse has a lot to live for, or b.) ur muse is too nervous to be turned.
oooor we can just go the established platonic route which is still awesome & sweet ! like i said, sib needs as many undead friends as she can get, but the idea of human friends for her tickles me half to death omg. like, her human friend wakes her up in the daytime n sib is like you better have a good reason for this jfc.

so, i’m always lamenting the fact that i never get to use my canon era verse, but it occurred to me that there likely are people around who write characters in the victorian era, and i just haven’t met them!! for the purposes of my own reference, and for the reference of others, i’d love to use this post to compile a bit of a list of rpers who write in the VICTORIAN ERA (circa 1837-1901). if you write in the victorian era in any capacity, whether it’s through your character’s canon setting or just through an au, please REBLOG THIS POST with your info in the tags!! something including your character’s name, the source, and whether it’s a canon setting or an au would be fantastic: for example, mine would be ‘ dr. henry jekyll / strange case of dr. jekyll and mr. hyde / canon setting. ’ or, if you prefer, some other format is totally fine, too. i’m hoping this could be a good way to find people willing to write in a certain time period!!

ROWENA AR PETYR / face is maisie williams. the second oldest petyr child & the closest to sibyl. they practiced witchcraft & tended the family’s garden & animals together while the other four children were off studying or raising families of their own. when sibyl contracted tuberculosis, rowena tried with might to use magic to cure her baby sister, going so far as to curse herself in hopes that the disease would transfer to her & leave sibyl in perfect health. nothing seemed to work at all, until rowena summoned marduk to spare sibyl’s life, at which point he took it & granted the girl immortality instead ---- meaning she could never return to her mortal family again, or even provide them with a corpse to be buried. rowena never fully recovered from the loss of sibyl, nor did she ever marry or have children. she perished at the age of forty - two, as a result of untreated leprosy. TRAITS / tender - hearted, virtuous, courageous.
LILITH DEMETRA VALDÍS / face is rooney mara. lilith is the elder sister of grigore “ wren ” valdís. the pair were born in alba iulia, transylvania, romania in 1551, & were turned at the hands of an unknown incubus vampire in 1572. lilith first met sibyl in paris, in 1783 ---- the two happened to be in the same tavern & sensed one another. sibyl was delighted, as always, to meet another of her kind, but lilith is utterly relieved : she & her brother stalked the earth for over two centuries alone & afraid of what they’d become. the women were instantly drawn to one another, lilith finding unbelievable comfort in sibyl, & sibyl being reminded so much of the sister she once knew. TRAITS / merciless, passionate, seraphic.
GRIGORE “ WREN ” VALDÍS / face is ben whishaw. nicknamed wren because of his lithe frame & his ethereal singing abilities, grigore is what one might call a guilty drinker ---- he finds all life precious & it troubles him terribly to take it away. this is a great weakness to him & a supreme burden to his sister, who feasts greedily and without remorse. his squeamish behavior has been the root of a great many problems for the coven, such as his kidnapping the living & hiding them in his cryptroom, drinking only small amounts of blood from them at a time. this particular stunt, driven by confused morality, only caused the humans more suffering before lilith & sibyl put them out of their misery. the coven continues to see out a way in which wren can feed comfortably. TRAITS / boyish, dramatic, dreamy.
IVAN MYSKA / face is alexander skarsgård. born in 1209 in the grand principality of serbia, ivan was the son of a merchant & of a mother he never got the chance to know : she died as she gave birth to ivan, murmuring her last words to her husband, a weeping fragment of some curse ---- a curse that she would pass on to her only son. ivan's’s mother had been a dhampyre, or a vampire / human hybrid, and a fraction of her undead blood was given to him. this was something ivan couldn’t even begin to understand, & he didn’t until much later in his immortal life. having been stabbed to death in a duel with his father’s rival’s son, ivan was buried & mourned, only to re - emerge from his grave when night fell, never to return to the weeds again. he first met sibyl in 1541, in venice, where the two became lovers for an evening. their paths crossed again in 1919, during which time ivan was weak & perishing quickly after being burned by a clergy who’d discovered his secret. after she’d restored his strength, the pair founded the COVEN E SANGUIS on the eve of samhain. TRAITS / debonair, moody, nihilistic.
THISBE ROWENA PETYR / face is olivia cooke. the cherubic daughter of french bakers, thisbe was born edwige aguillard in 1837 in new orleans. in 1853, she was sixteen & was being taught to read, write, bake & sew by her mother, but as yellow fever swept through the city, leaving death in its wake, young edwige & her parents were forced to close their bakery and stay indoors, shocked and grief - stricken when edwige’s father fell ill, anyway. he died quietly in their apartment above the shop, leaving edwige & her mother to fend for themselves. one foggy evening, however, sibyl strolled the plagued streets, taking advantage of the city’s panic. she crept into the aguillard apartment & took the life of edwige’s mother and drained little edwige to the point of death. unbeknownst to sibyl, edwige survived, albeit just barely ---- the child saw sibyl leave and stumbled after her, bleeding & sputtering, crying out ❛ maman ! ❜ sibyl’s initial instict was to finish the girl off & leave her to die, but her blackened heart quivered upon seeing her : she saw herself in edwidge, & in herself she saw rowena. sibyl gave to edwidge sweet undeath & christened her thisbe rowena, thus marking the beginning of their eternal bond. TRAITS / gentle, sentimental, vivacious.
LIKE EMBERS, the creature’s eyes smolder ---- she turns halfway, wary of him, SMELLING him. ( his scent, at least, is familiar. ) rosebud lips part, a shudder of dead air escaping from between them. ❛ I KNOW WHAT IT IS YOU ARE. ❜ she halts, a fanged doe of quivering, coltish limbs. DECADES ; it’s been decades since she’s crossed paths with another of similar prowess as she. of course there have been fledglings, and her own clan, but this beast is no scrap of unbreathing vermin. what’s more, she recognizes him.
