Experience the Blue Angels in 360-degree video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6SsB3JYqQg) + Stezo - Figure It Out
The video is a 360-degree recording of US navy airplanes taking off. They are doing formation flying across many landscapes, but we are not sure about where these places actually are.
The song is a rap piece from Stezo, called “Figure It Out”. I couldn’t really find the lyrics, but still the chorus is really straightforward: “It’s all about the money”. The author appears to find differences between his lifestyle and opulent ones. It appears to be close to many themes 90s rap have underlined decades ago.
The song fits well, also because footage tends to have no invasive montage.
Many interpretations are allowed: - this could be the song that the pilot is listening to while he’s flying, as we could do normally during a car drive. It offers an insight on the pilot’s music taste, making us wonder what kind of person he would be outside work; - it could be a critique towards US army in general. If we focus on “it’s all about the money”, we could link it immediately to the large amount of money war can generate at people’s lives’ cost. It all happens effortlessly, as the planes swiftly fly above our heads.
In conclusion, we can see that in this case song and video both coexist in an equal manner. Since the footage is almost entirely a long-shot and no relevant storytelling is provided, we tend to find the meaning in the song. However, the song itself wouldn’t get specific meanings without being tied to an image. Both elements share and enhance themselves adding up their individual meanings to generate a new one.
