When Geoffrey and I made the jump from working one on one with people to working in groups we had a lot of apprehensions. We had ongoing conversations before starting and more since about how we can be in a group without making this about the group or for anyone to feel beholden to the group or empower a group to wield power over individuals. We wanted to provide support in developing a personal relationship with a form of God, attain traditional spiritual developments and be supported in those processes and in their day to day life. Group dynamics can get in the way of all these things. We want everyone to come in feeling welcome and valued and if/when they leave feeling welcome and valued and for them to feel supported in whatever their way of being is in between. We ask everyone to be kind and respectful to one another but beyond that we don’t have rules or expectations, we are anti-competition, anti-politics and pro-compassion and actively want everyone to be independent in their spiritual work. And now, almost three years in -despite our strong anti-group attitude- many of us have developed these incredible friendships and relationships. If we shut Inner Currents down tomorrow, none of these relationships go away. This isn’t something you can force or control. It’s people who are in pursuit of becoming more loving and connected who have been willing to support one another in that same pursuit with no social reward or expectations. I couldn’t be more moved by how it’s turned out or feel more fortunate to have these people in my life. Loving and working on ourselves so we can be more loving is the path to a life filled with love. There’s a million ways to do this, it doesn’t have to be with us and I cheer everyone on this path. I believe that people are inherently wonderful and when loved and supported at an individual level their wonderfulness blossoms like a flower with infinite petals. I want this for everyone. Inner Currents February 2023 Newsletter Hello Friends, Happy February! This month we’ll have a brief Shivaratri meditation in addition to our other meditations. Everyone is welcome to our meditations, there’s no need to have a spiritual practice or any experience with meditation. If you have a spiritual or meditation practice that you can comfortably integrate in with our offerings, we encourage everyone to build and follow their individual path. You can also sit or lie down with each meditation or be included while being active. Donations are optional and tax deductible. During each one, I do a range from basic to more in depth healing work for every individual in addition to the focus of the meditation. Our Wise & Nourishing Mothers Meditation is a good opportunity to pray for the things we want in our material life. The Longing for God meditation is a good opportunity to pray for a deeper connection to the divine. The Bodhicitta Meditation helps pull everyone into a samadhi state that is triggered by developing a structure in our subtle body called the white drop or Bodhicitta. I also focus on integrating the changes by removing obstacles to feeling a well of compassion and connection to others, the world and the divine. I also ask assistance from divine personalities who can help us realize ideals of all these. Again, you’re welcome to come with any prayers or spiritual focus you already have in your life and focus on it while we sit together. Hello all, Happy June! We have a lot scheduled for the next two months. I’m compiling email lists to find out who would like more frequent reminders about public events and/or last minute events. If this is you, please reply here to let us know. Most of our offerings are public, by donation and our membership is also by donation meaning you can set the price and change it at any time. This month our transmission workshop centers around Earth Goddesses. This will improve our relationship with our own personal Earth element, the consciousness of the planet, love for all the life on the earth and the love/glory of the entire material plane. It falls on a very appropriate day according to the planets. The evening before the workshop, I’ll be meeting with Christina from www.skiesofgrace.com to do a special meditation and explanation about the skies. Thursday evening I’m hosting an open Q&A and am happy to host more by request. Geoffrey is offering a Q&A on the first Monday of every month plus one-on-one time slots for Inner Members every following Monday. Our big healing course is going to kick off in late July or beginning of August. It will be extremely comprehensive and the prerequisite will be an established or developing relationship with a form of the divine. Developing this relationship is a core component of what we offer and Geoffrey’s sessions are a great place to start for anyone interested. My daughter and I at the beautiful Zoom Chö today performed by @gracefuldying A big part of what we want to provide is assistance and an invitation to a spiritual path that fits into your life. If you can meditate in beautiful places in nature, temples, retreat spaces or a well adorned meditation studio in beautiful clothing while feeling your best - that’s wonderful. For most of us these are infrequent opportunities. Spiritual work can be done alongside the work we must do in the world. We can do it with our kids, our jobs, our errands and our tasks. Don’t imagine it as something you need to find away from yourself or your life. The chaos around us can teach us to reach further depths of peace and remind us of the places within ourselves that are yet to be fully addressed. Our difficulties can demand integration. Our worries can inform us of our values. Our regular, day to day lives and experiences can make excellent soil from which amazing things can grow. I think the biggest take away from this one is that just because something comes from channeled messages doesn’t mean it’s good or true. Just because something is good and true doesn’t mean it’s applicable or useful to you. Truth is contextually dependent - something good to explore when taking in all forms of information. There are very talented mediums who can communicate with those who have passed away and get very detailed information. There are some people who channel very knowledgeable beings and have offered helpful insight about our emotions and spirituality. There are also many beings who are good at telling us what we’d like to hear or what we expect to hear. Having access to a human body or human interaction is very valuable. I often think of them as needy pets vying for our attention. Either way, it’s good to take channeled information with a grain of salt. First, you’re communicating with something or someone living in a different world with different rules and a different experience of time. Even if they’re knowledgeable it doesn’t mean they have your best interest or understanding of your life path in mind when divulging information. Disincarnate beings also have a tendency to tell us things we can’t comprehend in ways we’ll understand, so something similar but not exact. The person who’s doing the communicating, the medium or channel receiving and dispensing information also has biases and limited communication styles like we all do. The info will inevitably be skewed several ways. It can be helpful, but mostly when you have a clear sense of how you’ll use and integrate any information that’s productive. These are also very popular in the mainstream spiritual spaces. We all have things to heal and experience the challenges of life that ask us for maintenance of the self. I’ve had some very powerful experiences with healers and others that were momentarily nice but less lasting. Sometimes it’s nice to simply have a bit of kindness and care extended to us and that’s more valuable than the actual healing. As much as possible remember that deep healing requires time and consistency. No healer or healing will match your healing work for yourself. It’s good to have support and that can come in many forms, but your power is to take the gifts from others and use them to support your healing path. There is no quick fix or easy solution to the wounds we carry or the complexity of the turmoil that comes with living in this world. Peace is something you grow inside of yourself with time and care, not something that can be given or found. I almost listed acupuncture and vibrational medicines like homeopathics, flower essences and spagyrics because they address the subtle body. I decided not to because they are subtle information carried or implemented by a physical medium. But are great examples of how effective addressing the subtle or energy body can be when done with skill and precision.
