where: andre and isabela’s apartment status: closed - andre @sundropskiesx what: friday night game night 001
friday night game night had started off as a silly idea but had quickly solidified into an important tradition that isabela spent a good hour every friday preparing for. she was very competitive, and she had known from the very first game that if andre could handle her when she lost, he could handle her in any mood. so, it had been almost like a trial of the roommates, and a true trial of her very thin patience. still, somehow, though isabela was very aware of her nerves, the tradition had stuck. maybe andre found it charming, or maybe his competitiveness balanced hers in just the right way. she didn’t know, but whatever it was, it seemed to work for them. and it made living with a roommate much more fun than isabela had anticipated.
and so it was friday again, and isabela had come home earlier than on other nights to set up the snacks and pile up the boardgames as andre finished up his shift at the cafe. she had chosen the game last time, and won, but this time it was andre’s turn. isabela was biting her fingernails distractedly as she examined the pile of games, and flinched slightly as she heard the door open. “hey!” she smiled, straightening up a bit and grabbing a chip from the bowl. “ready to get your ass beat, hendrix?”
elijah.
elijah was quite possibly the clumsiest human on the planet for as long as he could remember. his deviance to gravity started very young and led to many broken bones over the years. although he had lived in new york for a while now, the southern man would likely never be used to the snow and ice that came with new york living. as he walked along the side walk within midtown, he didn’t realize he was walking directly on to a thick patch of ice. without much of a warning, eli slipped on the patch, falling backwards on to his bottom hard. “jesus christ!” he yipped as he hit the ground, looking around to catch the eyes of the one person who seemed to notice his faux pas. “i ain’t gonna blame ‘ya if i catch you laughing,” he remarked with his southern drawl ever present as he poorly attempted to lift himself off the ground. truly, his ego hurt much worse than the fall itself.
isabela had been up early that day, though that was not uncommon for her. by noon she had already been to the gym, completed a full week’s worth of grocery shopping, dealt with some bills, and attended a choreography rehearsal. ticking off her latest conquest on her calendar, she shoved the thing back into her bag and started heading towards the nearest coffee shop for a much needed caffeine boost. just as isabela was about to cover her ears with the thumping music from her headphones, a yelp alerted her to someone falling down just a few feet away from her. “oh, fuck!” she gasped, eyes wide open and a hand flying over to cover her mouth as she witnessed the fall of the clumsy new yorker. though, he didn’t sound like a new yorker, did he? in fact... there was only one person she knew who had an accent like that. as their eyes met, isabela’s suspsicions were confirmed. it was elijah, or eli, her roommate’s best friend. they’d only met a few times, and though he had always seemed... nerdy, there was a certain charm to him that isabela found hard to describe. her hand still covering her mouth, isabela held back a laugh and took a step forward to help the man up. “hi, eli”, she greeted him as her arms wrapped around his to pull him up from the ground. “are you okay? that looked really sore.” isabela pulled back slightly to inspect the damages. “I hate to break it to you but you might get a pretty bad bruise on your ass. though I’m sure you can tell the ladies you were in a super serious fight. just... maybe leave out the part where you were fighting the ground right by a subway entrance and not some thug at a club.”
