starting a letter from the lonesome shore⦠i am literally so excited im shaking
i recently read Klara and the Sun and Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro and he is like one of my favourite authors of all time now. his writing is just amazing
// piranesi spoilers
when i was reading piranesi by susanna clarke i had my suspicions basically from page 2 that our main character was from a world like our own modern earth and when he described his favourite statue of the faun and said he dreamt of him βstanding in a snowy forest and speaking to a female child.β (p. 16) and i went ohhhh thats a narnia reference. this guy watched narnia before he fell into the grecian backrooms
im like piranesi but my notes app is my journalβ¦

Red, I love you. Red, I will send you letters from everywhen telling you so, letters of only one word, letters that will brush your cheek and grip your hair, letters that will bite you, letters that will mark you. Iβll write you by bullet ant and spider wasp; Iβll write you by sharkβs tooth and scallop shell; Iβll write you by virus and the salt of a ninth wave flooding your lungs; Iβllβ
stop, here, Iβll stop. This is probably not how this is done.

I had one of these silly guys growing up and tried my best to capture the unique pattern their fabric has
strangers to friends to i wonβt leave you even though i should to i want to eat you so you can become a part of me to i will burn the world for you to i spent hundreds of years lovingly creating a new body for you and handpicking each detail so it feels like home to you
now thatβs romance
Reading the book is not enough. I need to eat it.
βAs someone who has spent much of his social life getting acquainted with books and specimens, I am often flummoxed by the notion of speaking with a stranger. Fortunately, you felt nothing like someone i was meeting for the first time.β
A Letter to the Luminous Deep
- Sylvie Cathrall
i need every single person in the world to read a letter to the luminous deep⦠like now
its an adorable romance set in a dense fantasy/sci-fi setting, written in an epistolary style (meaning the story is told through letters, notes, journal passages, etc)
if youβre looking for something fun to sink your teeth into itβs definitely worth reading! not to mention its an excellent debut by sylvie cathrall, and the first in a series, so thereβs much more to follow. i just finished it and iβm already considering rereading.
βSometimes I sit here stationary, and know you so swift and sure, and think, I must prove myself her equal again - and the sharp, electric ache to stop you just to see you admire me is a kind of needle too.β
