It’s hard being a writer, because we set such unrealistic expectations of the world. They say writers see the beauty in everything; the whisper of breath across lovers’ faces, the hidden smile in a mother’s remonstrations, the last plea that comes when an argument ends and no one’s around to hear it. And yet I wonder sometimes if what we see is the things that others don’t notice, or if they’re things that just do not exist. I wonder if the words have enhanced our world - view, or if they’ve actually warped it. I wonder if the beauty I see is not a desperate attempt to make my life mean something; if in reality, meaning is just a human construct. What I see is something no one else does, but does that make me special, or just desperate?

Remember, it’s not your job to keep everyone else happy. It’s okay to give yourself attention too.

you could take me on a date anywhere and i’d be happy. like it could be the movie theater. or watching a movie at your house. fuck you could take me outside and we could look at clouds or climb trees i do not care as long as we hold hands or something at some point
The worst feeling is knowing you meant nothing to the person who meant everything to you.

We spoke to each other every day after we broke up. It was like we were fighting to bring ourselves up over the cliff we already fell down. Our hands had callus from climbing back up, we were weathered by all the days that rain poured on us and all the days the sun burned our skin. Somehow we managed to hold ourselves onto the edge. We were so close. A few weeks later he fell down. It was at the point, holding onto the edge took on a whole new meaning for me.

plot twist: you let someone in and they don’t fuck you over
me: *pretends to be a stone cold bitch*
also me: *cries when I think about kids who sit by themselves at lunch*
do you ever sit and think about your female ancestors and like how many of them endured forced marriages, sexual abuse, physical violence and complete deprivation of education and autonomy and suffered silently for literally centuries. going through pregnancies and child birth without modern medicine, having multiple children and watching most of them die before the age of five because that was just the way of life back then? and ultimately you are a product of their pain? i think about them a lot and then i think about how many women continue to share their reality in this current year
