YOU AND YOU AND MIKEY’S LITTLE NOD OF APPROVAL TO KEEP YOU GOING
Hey, I’m Larissa and I breathe Twenty One Pilots.
I found out about the band in 2012. I listened to some songs and I liked it, but I was very addicted to Paramore during that time (Actually I still am) so I didn’t give the boys the attention they deserved. I didn’t listen very much or tried to understand it. But then something happened and I really needed help.
During my whole life I suffered with my mind. I suffers with anxiety and already suffered with depression. My mind is very loud sometimes and it actually drives me insane. So I really needed someone that understood me. Someone that could put into words what I was. What I had in me. I needed someone to silence all the noise inside me. You see, I’ve never found someone that completely understood me. I’ve never felt that someone actually got me and knew how to make me feel better. Maybe it’s because I never say to people what I’m feeling. I don’t feel confortable. I don’t want to say somethings. I don’t want to give my problems to people you know? So I really needed someone to talk to me and to convince me that I was going to be okay. And I found it. This band. This band right here.
When I listened to it for the first time during 2015 (I say first time because it was the first time that I REALLY heard them you know?) I knew that I needed this band. This one would be the one. The one to understand me; the one that would listen to me; the one that would confort me whenever I needed… The one that would save me from my thoughts.
The song that I listened to that made me realize that these guys would be everything to me was Friend, Please and since that day I could breathe. Since that day I found the band that made me whole again. I still suffers with a lot of things but everytime that some awful thoughts comes to my mind, I just put Twenty One Pilots to play and I feel better. I feel that I am okay and that I can do it.
I’ve always had doubts. I think that “DOUBT” is my middle name. But one thing I’ve NEVER doubted: Twenty One Pilots was, is and always will be the band that saved me from myself. The band that hugged me when I needed, that listened to my screams and that understood me during that tough nights. And it’s not just about their music anymore. Everytime that I see them my day is already better. Their smiles make me smile and make me feel that I can be okay.
Everytime that I feel alone I remember that I’m not. This band is right there to me. And I can say with every word that now I’m a local dreamer that knows how powerful I am.
I could say so much more. I want to but like always I don’t have the words for that. So that’s it. A little piece of my story with this band. All I can say is that now I breathe and live and that’s more that I could ever ask.
And I will stay alive. For them. For you… For me.
