So I posted some stuffed toy pics and explanations. I didn't post any of my own toys that I made myself, not did I post any of the tiny soft toys. There are also three of them left at UVIC: Abby the big ginger tabby, Pax the panda build a bear, and my Where the Wild Things Are puppet. I'll post all of that and more later. Maybe. See how I feel.
Here are the biggest of the toys: -Stripes the big cat from Ikea. I have the matching duvet. -Dolphin pillow pet that is adorable but unfortunately a gift from the ex.
These guys were mostly gifts in recent years.
-Kimochi, the blue faces fellow on the left was an 18th birthday gift from a few friends
-the purple monster puppet was a Christmas gift from a friend. She found it in her house and it reminded her of me.
-the bird creature made from socks was a gift from my grandma
-the blue fellow with the big pink heart and the long orange arms was bought on Saltspring
-Next up is Rabies the red thing with eyes. A birthday gift from friends.
-The little round dude was knitted for me by a good friend for my birthday.
-Finally the reindeer guy was a Christmas gift from a friend.
Here are the ugly dolls. Black Icebat came first and the rest followed. I've always wanted one of the bigger ones.
I have all of the Vancouver 2010 olympic mascots because they are awesome. -I got Quatchie first before the Olympics from a friend. -Miga came next during the Olympics. -Sumi was also bought in the heat of the Olympics. -Mukmuk in the spirit gloves came last. I managed to find him on sale after the games were over.
The Snuffles bears: -Rocket is the brown fellow. 30th anniversary addition Snuffles. I got him as a gift from my parents in spring 2011 when I was in the hospital. I had been obsessing over him for months. I take him everywhere I sleep over. -Fox is the white bear. I got him a few weeks ago because he is ridiculously cute and soft.
Here are the babies: -Water Baby on the right. I used to poke holes in the poor little things belly button with thumb tacks. I don't know why. My dad kept fixing it though so I guess it was okay? -the other baby was my first baby. Her hair is a mess hence the sock in her head. I got really into playing with her a lot later in life than I should have. Possibly even as old as 14.
These kitties are all very very important to me. -the knitted kitty was made by my Grandma Gloria a few years before she passed away. She lived far away so I didn't see her often but she still cared about me. She made this kitty from a bear knitting pattern that she turned into a cat one because she knew I loved cats. I never saw her again after she sent me this because she died when I was 11. I miss her and I wish I got to know her better. -Lala is a cat I got when I was 2. She used to be pink but turned grey because I took her everywhere. She is wearing a dress my mom made her and a collar because my parents realized how much shit would go down if I lost her. -finally the last kitty was a gift from my neighbor in the apartment I lived in until I was 4. He gave this little leopard to me and told me to take good care of it because it was his childhood toy. He trusted me. I remember him as being very old and I think he was probably passed away by now but I hope I'm treating his kitty alright.
Here are some more kitties: -Top left is Gloria cat named after my grandmother on my dad's side. When you tilt her head she purrs. -Tabatha is the brown Russ tabby. My parents brought her for me from a business trip. I always liked her attitude. My dad and I used to play a game where we would try to get her to stand on her own two feet. My dad succeeded but only once. -The big leopard is actually a neck Warmer. You open her up and her guts are a bean bag you put in the microwave. -the little cat with the stars is from Saltspring. I always found her to be very wise.
This is the royal kitty family. They are close friends with the Royal dog family I mentioned in an earlier post. -The Queen is the grey cat on the far left. -The King is the tiger on the far right. -The older Princess is the black kitty. She is in line for the throne and is supposed to marry the dog price for diplomats reasons but is actually in love with the dog warrior. She has bells in her feet and is a gift from my mom or dad from a business trip. -The white and grey kitty with the tiger hat is the youngest princess. She is very frail and sickly and was born a mute.
Beanie Baby and Beanie Buddy cats. I used to have more but sadly these guys are all I have left. -Silver is on the top left. I think I got her Christmas 1999 from my uncle. -Lucky is on the top right. Same Christmas as Silver but from Santa. She has a plastic green five leaf clover tied around her neck with a red shoe lace. -The black kitty on the bottom left is the Beanie Baby version of Lucky. I will bet you anything her name is Blacky. I also had the teeny tiny version of them but I'm afraid I haven't got her anymore. -Purr got horns because she wanted them. She's a mythical cat like creature. She's very beautiful. -Stitch is actually Stitch v2 because I lost the original in Ikea and cried pretty much forever because I really liked her.
I got these two in Fall 2011 because I was sad and alone in Montreal. -The giraffe was mailed to me as a gift from my mom because I was sad and lonely and wanted something to hug but I was scared if she mailed one of my old toys it would get lost in the mail. -The lamb was a sad drunken lonely shopping purchase because it was soft and I thought the giraffe needed a friend.
More random animals: -Melvin is an elephant. I got him in summer 2010 downtown at a bookstore. He is super cute and used to travel with me. -William is a good from a desert preservation area in Osoyoos. He has magnetic feel and I liked that. He's also from 2010. I think May maybe? -Raccoon on the bottom left is from the Okanagan. I got him to match a little round grey squirrel just like him that my grandparents bought me on a cruise ship. I can't find the squirrel and that makes me sad because the two of them were best friends. -My little beanie baby bug was given to me at a store when I was about 8. My mom was buying Christmas gifts or something and the store owner liked me and gave me the little bug. I felt sorry for the bug because I thought no one would think he was cuddly and they would reject him so I let him hang out in the Christmas tree and he slept in my bed a lot. -the fuzzy green frog was a Christmas gift from a friend when I was 11. Her father, my coach and mentor, passed away suddenly a few months later and this frog makes me think of him because I think he helped her pick it out.
Here are my California friends: -Little Eeyore is from Disneyland when I was seven. We got into a fairly serious car accident with a semi truck on our way to the airport and my dads eye socket got broken and he got brain damage but we still went to Disneyland. Eeyore has always been my favorite because I have pretty much always been depressed. Meeting Eeyore at Disney was so magical. -Mimi, the little bee, is from California Adventure park on the same trip as little Eeyore. She is Eeyore's friend and tries to cheer him up. -Panda is from the San Diego zoo when I was nine. He is wearing a collar that I braided out of grass also when I was 9. -Big Eeyore was a gift from my ex. Whatever he is still cute. Eeyore that is... No comment on the ex.
Here are some little guys I've had for ages. -Ottery on the left. Probably from the aquarium. -Moosey beside Ottery. Moosey is very good at losing her clothes and antlers. Also she's wearing underwear which is funny when you are three years old. -Next is who I claim to be called Sheepy but my parents say Sheepy was someone else. -Paddington Bear of course. -Camely is the camel in front. I thought it was so cool to have a stuffed camel!
Here are my old bears. -Mamma Bear on the top right was the first stuffed toy I ever got. She makes me feel safe. -Krissy Bear on the top right was given to me by my parents friends also when I was a baby. When you press on her left foot it plays Fur Elise. Every time I tried it for 19 years it worked, even three weeks ago it worked, but I just tried it now and it's starting to break :(. -the last two bears are sisters. The one one the right is a ballerina. Her little sister on the lefts dreams of being a ballerina too and it more naturally talented than her sister but the older sister is mean and jealous and won't let her little sis dance. Yes I made that up when I was two.
These are my bunnies: -Ballerina Bunny is the smallest one. I always thought she was very beautiful and graceful. She is a finger puppet. -I don't remember the grey bunny's name. I feel like its bunnyey (no typo). I always thought she way really cute. -I used to bring mamma and baby bunny to daycare because we were only allowed one toy for nap time and this way I felt like I was cheating the system and bringing two.
