I regret to say that I've been doing nothing but going directly to work and then directly home. There hasn't been much else to do really. Though it's been some time since I have practiced with my blade. Would anyone be willing to join me?

Wondrous Memories | Alice and Chester
Ches stood there as Alice began to explain the visions she had in her mind. His heart sank as she mentioned seeing him dying in front of her. He felt a lump in his own throat form, quickly swallowing it down. She needed someone to be strong for her. It wasn’t a time for him to break down because of feelings for her. Feelings…. Is that what this what? He had kissed her after all.
The thought pulled him back to the current place and he blinked his eyes a few times, a frown pulling at his lips. “Alice.. That’s terrible. And knowing that I’m actually alive and well doesn’t help a bit?”
Those weren’t the questions he was now interested in.. but it was coming up. He just needed to bring it up slowly, as much as it killed him not to know.
“Alice.. That’s terrible. And knowing that I’m actually alive and well doesn’t help a bit?”
It was things like this that remind me of why I cared so much about Ches in the first place, he would always bring be back to the reality of things. Not let me wallow in my own misery and move on.
"Of course!" I exclaimed. "You're my best and favorite companion, and seeing you here with me... well its almost like those days in Wonderland. The two of us together, we were unstoppable, weren't we?" I laughed. "it actually helps a lot. Knowing you're here by my side, it makes this world much less intimidating. The only thing that really upsets me would be... well, what you just witnessed."
Wondrous Memories | Alice and Chester
As Alice looked around the diner, Chester blinked. He wasn’t sure what was going through her head until he saw her cheeks flush. Of course she was embarrassed and he swiftly moved out of her way as she ran for the door.
Ches gave it a minute before pulling out his wallet and tossing some money on the table and running after her, catching sight of her dress as she ran into the alley. He came up behind her slowly as she began to cry, a frown showing obviously on his face. He didn’t know what to do, he’d never seen this before, from Alice or anyone.
Instead of standing there, watching her, he walked up to her and carefully placed a hand on her back, patting it softly before rubbing it in a small circle. Slowly, he pulled her into his arms, shutting his eyes. His arms wrapped tightly around her, ready to hold her in if she tried to push him away. There was no way he was letting her run away from him now. Especially not after he kissed her..
"What did you see, Alice?" he mumbled quietly. Half prepared for her to get angry with him for asking.
There was no one in any realm I trusted more than Ches. So of course, when he held me close I didn't push away as I would have with any other stranger, nor did I fly into a rage when he asked what I had seen.
There was no one like him, anywhere. My trusted confident. I had to tell him.
Gently extracting myself from his arms, I told him everything. Everything. The fires, the pain, seeing him die before my eyes. A corrupted Wonderland, returning to my eyes every time I remembered something particularly vividly.
I sighed and wiped the tears from my eyes.
"I'm sorry I never mentioned this sooner, Ches."
The flowers looked at each other before they answered Alice. Lina stared wide eyed at the marvel of her talking plants that seem to have more answers than she did at this point. " From what we ‘ere told, magic returned to Storybrooke, we only have a few sources…
Lina awaited the answer of the flowers before her, curious as well as to why Alice didn’t apply to this floral code. One of the roses spoke in a more refined accent,” You have already spoken with our ancestors Miss. Alice, you have created a commotion so to speak.” Lina furrowed her brows,” Were any of you going to tell me eventually.” The rose sighed, ” It has been up for debate for many years, the reason why the majority was in favor of not telling you was to not make an exhibition of ourselves.” Lina walked up to the blooms and kneeled to be head level with the plants,” I won’t tell anyone, this is something that I find special and sacred. Please, believe that.”
I accepted this flower's logic without a second though. It did make some sort of sense. It was strange, yes but... it did make a little sense.
Instead of interrupting the shopkeeper and her flowers, I stood my the side. This conversation was no longer mine, but theirs.
There was nothing else for me to say.
Wondrous Memories | Alice and Chester
Chester blinked a few times and swallowed slowly. He glanced around the room, noticing that few people were looking at them. It wasn’t surprising, but he knew she might not want so much attention right now. The man pulled at his friend’s hands, trying to get her to stand up while looked back at her. “We should leave, Alice. People are staring. And I think we need to talk.”
An eyebrow arched as he watched Alice register what he was saying, thankful that she was back. He stood up and waited for her to do the same, his hands dropping to his sides. It was one thing for Alice to have PTSD from her time in Wonderland, but it was another, entirely, that she had episodes like that. It terrified Ches. How was he going to protect her now? Now that the things she needed to be protected from were in her head…
After the whole thing had finally cleared, I was left completely bewildered. Stares from complete strangers where cast upon Ches and I. My cheeks heated up from embarrassment. Without giving the diner, or Ches a second glance I stood up and bolted out the door, nearly catching my skirt in it.
Hiding in a nearby alley, I promptly burst into tears.
Ches must have been terrified.
You're the Devil in Disguise | Past | Jac and Alice
Jac jumped slightly as Alice whirled to face her, the Vorpal Blade hissing through the air. When Alice spoke, her words held the same hissing tone as the blade when it sliced through thin air, almost as though the girl and the blade spoke with one voice. The thought made Jac shudder as she tried to focus her mind on what Alice was saying.
The hostility in Alice’s voice shocked Jac, up until this point, the girl had been a little quiet, but kind. This battle, and it’s outcome must mean more to her than Jac had previously realized. Clenching her fists to stop her hands from shaking, Jac finally met Alice’s gaze, slightly shocked at the fire in the other girl’s eyes. “How are you so confident that we will survive this?”
Seeing Jac flinch slightly reminded me how harsh I was being, and yet I did not back down.
Her shaking words only brought me even further to the edge. This was Wonderland, and if I lost my sanity completely I could become hysteric.
Literally.
"I am confident because I must be. Any shred of doubt, and shadow of lack of courage and it's all over. Everything I have ever done up to this point would have been in vain. I cannot risk that. Therefore, I have confidence. Perhaps confidence that should not be there. Perhaps it has no right to be, but this is my Wonderland, and I will do everything and anything in my power to bring it back!"
There doesn't seem to be anything to do today...
Like what? The weather? I guess I could ask everyone who they were… but that feels a bit intrusive…
Well then, why not start with me? I'm a bit of an exception to the rule of "was" and "were". Do you know who I am?
There doesn't seem to be anything to do today...
I feel like i’ve done everything there is to do around here, twice.
Even with all these new characters around? No pun intended, mind you. Surely you can figure out something new to do, find new things to talk about.
There doesn't seem to be anything to do today...
A young boy like you saying there's nothing to do?
There's always something to do, you just aren't looking hard enough.
Wondrous Memories | Alice and Chester
Ches kept his eyes on Alice’s, waiting for a response from her. Slowly, he felt his lips pull into a frown. She wasn’t there. Alice was still gone, maybe too far gone. The man ran the pad of his thumbs along her cheek bones soothingly, keeping focused on her eyes.
He took a moment to clear his throat before speaking again, his voice stronger than before. “Alice. Come back. Follow my voice. I’m here, and I’m okay. So are you. You just need to come back to me.”
It was all coming back into focus now.
There was something stroking her cheek... Ches? Of course, they had been at Granny's. Talking. Remembering old times. That was the trigger of this whole thing... wasn't it?
“Alice. Come back. Follow my voice. I’m here, and I’m okay. So are you. You just need to come back to me.”
Yes, that was definitely Cheshire. My Cheshire, always looking out for me. Bless him.
Slowly, the real world returned. Ches had his hands cupping my face, the sensation was... strange. Taking his hands I clasped them in front of my face.
"Ches, I-"
My voice was shaking, of course.
"I'm back."
An Eventful Afternoon- Lina and Alice
The flowers looked at each other before they answered Alice. Lina stared wide eyed at the marvel of her talking plants that seem to have more answers than she did at this point. " From what we ‘ere told, magic returned to Storybrooke, we only have a few sources though.." Lina crossed her arms” And what sources are you exactly refferring to?” " Mainly the mornin’ glory’s-" " Daffy, we weren’t supposed to tell! We weren’ supposed to say ANYHING! I fink it’s a bit late for that now innit?”
The borrower furrowed her brows,” Do you mean the morning glory vines that grows outside on the door? Or the morning glory’s that grow on the oak tree a few yards away?” We talk to ‘em sometimes but it’s difficult since we have to network to communicate.” Lina looked at the blooms with disbelief, ” So you never bothered to even tell me anything about this?” Lina ran her fingers through her hair with frustraion,” I don’ understand, why would you keep something like his from me?” The faces of the blooms were apologetic,” Oh Lina, please don’t be upset with us, we were only following the Floral code of conduct that was set here a long time ago.” One of the small yellow popcorn roses chimed in with a fragile voice," We didn’t mean any ill will, we didn’t know how you would take it."
I was just as bewildered as Lina was, and listened carefully while the flowers and the shopkeeper had their little banter. The whole situation really was quite bizarre, and to be quite honest I wouldn't be surprised if I had been dreaming this whole time.
Much prefer this over the nightmares any day.
There was something that still confounded me though.
"Forgive my intrusion." I began, telling Lina. "But... this 'floral code of conduct'. Did my arrival here change that? Why begin speaking now despite this.... code?" It was very peculiar, this whole situation.
"I suppose what I'm really asking you all is... what changed?"
You're the Devil in Disguise | Past | Jac and Alice
The silent moments before Alice voiced her reply were the longest, most frightening moments in Jac’s life thus far. Was Alice going to tell her that they were indeed walking into a trap, that they had set out on a suicide mission? Jac had wanted to prove herself worthy of a prince, had wanted to prove that she was good enough for James, but the whole purpose for her journey to Wonderland would be pointless if she died in the pursuit.
As Alice spoke, Jac started to breath easier, knowing that the Vorpal Blade had been created for this very reason, to slay the Jabberwocky. Knowing that Alice had faith in the fact that they would succeed, that they would triumph over the beast, calmed her nerves. Alice’s next words however, had her heart racing and her hands shaking all over again.
"With every battle comes the risk of death, but even so, I am willing to take that risk… for my Wonderland."
Dying for a land that was not her own, for people she didn’t even know… that wasn’t what she had signed up for…. “Alice, I can’t die like this, we have to succeed, I need to get back to… I have things… people… I need to return to.”
Jac's nerves were becoming more evident by the second... and I was beginning to loose my patience. Letting out a little huff, I turned around to face her again.
"Listen, Jac." I hissed, swinging my Vorpal Blade down to my side so quickly it made an audible swoosh. "If you continue with the mentality that you are going to die here, that is precisely what will happen. You. Will. Die." It was sounding a little too hostile, but I hoped it would snap her back.
"That is why you must do whatever you can to ensure your survival." I continued, more sternly this time. "Because I know. I know you have somewhere to go back to, I know. So you will do this. You will survive. We both will."
You're the Devil in Disguise | Past | Jac and Alice
The more of the poem that she heard, the more Jac had to fight the urge to turn around and run, as fast as her legs would carry her, in the other direction. Claws, teeth… What did we get ourselves into, going after this beast?
Her hand going to her sword, Jac felt the smooth metal and warm leather of it’s hilt under her palm, the familiar feel comforting and grounding her. She was a fair hand with her sword, James had taught her well, and although she hadn’t seen it first hand, Jac had heard that Alice was very good with the blade she carried with her, but she was still not sure that it would be enough.
As Alice turned back around to keep her eyes on the trail in front of her, Jac eyed the blade clutched tightly in the girl’s hand. Catching up to Alice, Jac grabbed her arm gently, stopping her in her tracks. Pulling the girl around to face her, Jac looker her dead in the eye, trying to keep her voice from shaking as she spoke, “Alice, tell me that it’s something the two of us can handle, that we aren’t walking into a death trap.”
The one thing about Jac that always unsettled me slightly was the fact that I could not always tell what she was thinking, so when her hand found the hilt of her sword, her facial expression was difficult to read. Was she confident? Panicking? Afraid? There was no way for me to know.
As I turned around to focus on the road ahead, Jac's footfalls could be heard as she tried to catch up to my pace. Admittedly, I had been moving rather quickly. She grabbed me by the arm and spun me so that I would be facing her.
“Alice, tell me that it’s something the two of us can handle, that we aren’t walking into a death trap.”
She was afraid.
"Jac," I began. "My Blade was made for slaying the beast. Besides, if there is anyone who can handle this, it's us." There was a firmness in my voice. I was confident. "With every battle comes the risk of death, but even so, I am willing to take that risk... for my Wonderland."
