Brenda Lee - Fly Me To The Moon
Yesterday I went out and had blueberry pancakes at the cafe across the street. Orange juice, coffee, and a bloody mary. I've started writing on paper again and I find myself enjoying the process more then typing it out freehand on Google Docs. There's just far too many distractions available on the internet and writing in a train or somewhere out of the house is where things come together better. I set up a rule that I won't buy any new games until I finish the rewrite of the first chapter. I'm halfway finished so I guess that will be my reward after completion.
After I broke my clavicle I really wanted to finish the dozen or so projects I have on the back burner. It still shocks me a bit to know just a few months ago I couldn't pick up a bar of soap in front of me, let alone even dress myself. Which I guess segways me into this next part. I started going to the gym, about three or four times a week. I've also began weightlifting a bit and enjoy it enough that I've been reading books on proper form, etc. I saw myself at my absolute weakest. I couldn't help out around the apartment and gained some weight from doing nothing. Now I can squat 95lbs and deadlift 80lbs, way more than I ever thought possible.
I guess those two things, writing and weightlifting, are pretty polarizing. I'm sure it's weird to some, but I just like doing both. They take time and effort. It's about balance, symmetry, and recovery.
Photography took the brunt of this all and is now something I persue when I'm out of the city, which I guess was always the case. There's just very few people doing interesting or inspiring work. Maybe i'm just over the internet. And this site has turned into a livejournal because I can't do this shit on facebook. It's basically just for family.
Best,
J
Sometimes I wish I had this for work.
New York based photographer Jacob Mooty’s series ‘Way out west’ is a great reflective look on the western landscape of the USA.
In a subject tackled by many photographers, Mooty manages to convey both the past and the present of the states he shoots in, in a natural style. The past has shaped...
Route Collective did a very nice write up that went under my radar until now. Very happy to be making work that others enjoy. Go check out their group, it's quite good.

To all my friends here: I've been largely absent for a while now. I started a new(ish) position and just shortly after I fractured my clavicle from a bike accident. I'm 26 now and with the extra accumulation of age I have set forth to finish projects I have started but never finished. If you know me at all I say this a lot, but I'm trying.
I miss many of you and hope to reveal these projects to you someday (soon) but until then I will continue to post irrelevant updates and inspiration to my creative process.
Best,
J

Absolutely biffed it riding to work this week. One broken clavicle and I'm completely useless around the apartment. Going to go pick up the bike from the hospital in a bit. Curious to the damage it may have taken.
This year's e3 so far is disappointing. It actually flew off my radar and after scrolling through some online recaps I'm just not impressed by anything Sony or Microsoft are grinding out. The whole thing is just perpetual sequels. Like Assassins Creed? Well, here's another god damn one. New Battlefield with ~ 126 multiplayer map support~ Dead Rising 3, Dead Island 2. Fucking Forza 2? Borderlands Pre-Prequel? Where are all the new IP's? I can serously count the new intellectual properties on one hand. Developers are stuck beating the same dead horse full of cash.
There was a meeting of our regional IT today and the ice breaker they went with this time was "name your dream car." Most people answered with the oddly specific Mercedes, Ferrari, Tesla, Teleportation, the bike from Tron, Tardis. But I don't care for most cars, so I said I just wanted a 80's yellow Vespa. The room was then crickets.
