This is so obviously correct I can’t even think what the other answer would be.
blank version, please make this the new infodumping meme
No more yearly recaps!!!
Every app, every website, every company is doing one.
No Dunkin Donuts, I don’t need a recap of how many BEC on a bagel I’ve eaten in 2025.
No YouTube, I don’t need a recap of how much time I’ve spent watching videos this year, or that at least 25% of it was Astarion from Baldur’s Gate 3.
The one from DuoLingo was, I grant you, pretty cool. But that’s it.
The Outer Worlds 2 is not entirely what I expected.
Don’t get me wrong, the game is great! It’s beautiful, the controls are great, the companions are likeable (Marisol is my ride or die), and I’ve genuinely been enjoying discovering the story.
But it is entirely different from the first in so many ways. So far, I’m about 25 hours in, and the game has only given me one reason to travel back to a planet I visited in the past. It has been feeling pretty linear so far, with completing all the quests in an area and then never going back.
But my biggest disappointment is the massive difference in feel. The first game was serious, but it was also charming and lighter. Like Doc Rick Brown just randomly picked some slapdick at random and thawed them out. Then that slapdick picked up an adorably flustered engineer, a hot vicar that had seen some shit, a rich girl just trying to piss off her parents, a high functioning alcoholic with a giant gun, a delightful himbo with a tossball stick, and a robot janitor rigged with an acid thrower. It was a ship full of chucklefucks just dumbshitting their way through everything. And the corporate jingles at all the vending machines? Amazing. I loved them. I still sing the Spacer’s Choice one to myself randomly because my revolving door ass ADHD brain just tosses it out.
But the second game is different in a way that I’m not sure I’m enjoying. You’re an Earth Directorate agent, not some random noob. It’s a ship full of edgelords…and VAL. Having a dumb character no longer feels like it fits because why would the Earth Directorate pick a dumbass to lead an important mission, and why would all these skilled badasses follow a dumbass? Also, some of the “plot twists” have been predictable because the plot is more dire, and all the stuff like “help me negotiate with this company” from the first game is gone for things like “oh no, someone in my organization is dirty? It couldn’t be the person standing next to me.” YES IT FUCKING IS AND I KNEW IMMEDIATELY.
All of the amazing and unique corporate bullshit from the first is gone in favor of saving the system from a cult, with one corporation, a religion, and a group of smugglers whom I haven’t seen in 10 hours. Oh, and YOU’RE THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN SAVE THEM. The chosen one complex is HUGE in this game. I hate being the chosen one, but I’m being reminded of it at every turn. The first game was great at subverting this RPG trope because your character was chosen at random.
This game is so much darker that it’s like whiplash from the first. I’m a middle-aged woman that has enough horrible shit in real life, so I have far less tolerance for horrible shit in my media. I can’t just sit down for hours with this unless I’m in the right mood. There have been numerous breaks taken with Powerwash Simulator 2, Coral Island, and Unpacking. This is the same thing I have to do with Fallout. I still haven’t finished Fallout 4 because it’s so bleak. I swear I’ll get around to it someday. But I was not expecting to find that same level of bleakness in the Outer Worlds 2.
That’s my biggest disappointment: this doesn’t feel like the Outer Worlds. It feels like every other sci-fi RPG out there with only mentions of Auntie’s Choice, skip drives, the Architect’s Plan, and mantisaurs to make it look like the Outer Worlds. Most things that I found to be unique from the first game have been stripped away to make this one Fallout New Vegas 2.0 IN SPACE. And I do not find that to be a good thing.
If y’all need me, I’ll be playing Stardew Valley for a while.
EDIT: Huge bonus points for the mantisaur executive though. Strategic Ingestment Executive Wojtek, and the ridiculousness surrounding him, is hands down my favorite part of the game so far.
Recipe Roundup in Review
In years past, I posted a two-month series of recipes suitable for the autumn season, which everyone seemed to enjoy very much. I’ve been too busy this year to make up a new queue, so I thought I’d compile a big long list of links for anyone who’s looking for recipe ideas this fall.
Update: I’ve posted more recipes since the original roundup and I’ve added those additional links to the list below. I’ve also done my best to mark which ones are vegetarian (🌿) or could be easily altered to be so. (Some could also be altered for a vegan diet using egg, milk, or butter substitutes.) Recipes which may include alcohol as an ingredient are also marked (🍷).
Some are fall-themed, others are for more wintry occasions. But all are designed to make the most of the season and keep our hearts and bellies full as we face the coming cold. Enjoy!

I’m going to have such great ambitions, then make only one because I have ADHD and hate cooking. But they all sound amazing! 😭
I like the word “witchery” because of its linguistic similarity to “fuckery.” Witchcraft is fuckery; fuckery is witchcraft. They are inextricably connected in my mind and it makes me happy.
For no reason here is a library story
There will be millions of actions like this over the coming years. An important thing to remember is that for them to work (anywhere, not just libraries) is people absolutely can’t announce that this is what they are doing.
Not seeing constant acts of resistance doesn’t mean it isn’t happening all around you all the time. Some very effective methods require silence and secrecy.
Something to keep in mind.
Creative Writing Tarot Spread
Writers block bogging you down? Use this 7-card spread to help jumpstart your creativity! This prompt can help you generate a very basic storyline.
First, pull a character card! Decide for yourself what this means: will your character carry the traits of the positive meanings of this card? Will your character’s conflicts be brought about by the card’s negative meanings? Will your character look like the figure depicted on the card? Will they wield the item depicted on the card? (Note: if your story has multiple main characters, you may wish to pull a card for each)
Next, pull the plot cards! Pull a card for the beginning of your story, a card for the middle, and a card for the end. Again, let yourself decide what this means. Do these cards describe your character’s emotional state(s) as the story progresses? Do these cards describe internal or external conflicts? Do these cards represent other characters your MC will meet along the way?
Finally, pull your meat cards! These cards are the “meat” of your story. Pull one card for the main or most important setting of your story, one card for the main conflict, and one card for the resolution of that conflict.
Have fun with it! Remember that these cards are just tools, and this spread is simply to kickstart your brain. If you get halfway through the spread and come up with something on your own, or if you start writing and realize your plot is deviating from what the cards gave you, don’t stress about it! You write for yourself, not for the cards. Thank them for their help and continue on with your own imagination.

Knitting Witchcraft 101, a crash course by witchimplumis
To start this off, obviously there are TONS of ways to do a lot of this stuff. This is mostly the method I use. This also isn’t a tutorial to knitting, there’s lots of great videos out there explaining how to knit, if I tried to teach all of that in this post, it would be at least 3 times as long. Finally, most of this probably also works for crochet, but I don’t know the first thing about crochet, so I’ll let someone else weigh in on that.
Knitting magic is great for anyone, from witches on a budget (yarn, especially acrylic, can be dirt cheap), broom closet witches (it’s easy-peasy to pass off as a normal, non-witchy hobby), practical witches (you get a useful garment at the end!), and more. You can use it on its own, or as a part of a larger spell or ritual.
Intent
Much like all magic, a lot of knitting magic is intent and visualization. Before starting a project, come up with a purpose for the finished product. For this scenario, I’ll use a real project I’ve done. I wanted to make a shawl to help me in the upcoming school year. When you’re knitting, focus on the purpose that you want to imbue the finished product with. Imagine your hopes for it entering each stitch, and being locked in place with your needles. When you first start, it may feel mentally exhausting or draining, or it may be really hard to focus and you may find your thoughts drifting away, but as you practice you’ll get better and be able to focus longer. I find that once I start to lose focus the best thing to do is leave for a while and pick the project up later, once I’ve had time to clear my head.
Rs/ws
If you’ve been a knitter for any length of time at all, you know that flat knitting has what’s called a “right side” (the side that shows when you’re wearing/using your created object) and a “wrong side” (the side that faces towards you, like the bottom of a blanket or inside of a cardigan), or rs and ws on patterns. When working out the beginning of my projects, I come up with two different intents, one for the outside world to see (right side) and one to affect only me (wrong side). So, in the example of my school shawl, I wanted other people to view me as capable in my field. So my rs intent was “I am a learned student of my trade.” On the ws, I choose an intent that helps me to acheive my ultimate goal (doing well in school) so the intent I used was “I have the focus required in my studies.” HOWEVER, when working in the round, there’s no wrong side. So then how do you go about wrong side intents? Two options: one, have only one overarching purpose for all knitting (such as “I will succeed in my chosen field”), or alternate lines as you would if you weren’t knitting in the round.
Color/texture
Yarn comes in pretty much every color and color combination imaginable. Color associations/color magic are not only possible to do with yarn but strongly encouraged. I use lots of sources for mine, googling “color associations” brings up bunches of pages, or you can use your own personal associations. If you’re going to do this, read reviews for the yarn and check for or ask about color bleeding.
Textures are an often-overlooked factor. Prickly yarn can be used in a defensive spell, or soft yarn in one for comfort and warmth. Always keep in mind what kind of thing you’re making though, and try to work off of that. Some textures are not ideal for some uses.
Materials Yarn materials are important to fit to your project. For example, you don’t want to make a knit bralette out if dish scrubby yarn (ouch). You have tons of options, but I’ll stick to the kinds you’re most likely to run into cheap-ish. My standing recommendation for all of these is if there is any way at all you can see and feel yarn in person before buying it, do so. I don’t recommend buying in bulk of you haven’t dealt with a brand or line of yarn before.
Acrylic- acrylic yarn is usually extremely cheap and comes in tons of colors and textures, some are shiny, others are really fuzzy, there’s all kinds for all purposes. It’s really great if you have allergies because it’s synthetic fiber.
Wool/superwash wool: usually somewhat coarse, wool is a natural fiber that comes from shearing specific breeds of wool-producing sheep. Some brands will even say specifically what breed(s) or country their wool comes from. In my experience, wool is much easier to work magic with than acrylic, however it will usually also be more expensive, and there are fewer textures and appearances available.
Cotton: cotton is a nice in-between of acrylic and wool. It’s a natural fiber, but I don’t know of anybody being allergic to it. It can come in many different colors, but not really any texture variety, they all just feel like cotton. If you’re not morally opposed for any of various reasons, Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Cotton yarn is by far the best cotton yarn I’ve found, in terms of softness. If you ARE morally opposed however, Sugar n Cream makes cotton yarn on huge spools very cheap.
Bamboo: it’s considered eco-friendly yarn. I don’t know how true that is, as I don’t use it enough to actually look into the carbon footprint of bamboo yarn. That said it feels like actual clouds and looks like them too.
Silk: we all know what silk is. Silk yarn exists. It’s on the expensive end of cheap stuff, usually only comes in small amounts.
Merino: wool that comes from the merino sheep breed specifically. This wool is really soft, I don’t work with it much because it’s usually really expensive compared to every other kind.
Novelty yarns: I love incorportating these. Some are great for practical reasons (dish scrubby yarn) and others are great for using some of their elements as part of a spell (like feathery yarns or beady yarns etc.)
Stitch types I don’t think there’s a widely agreed upon set of associations for stitch type/pattern, these are just some common ones I’ve come to associate. YO/lace- these large, open patterns I associate with “bigger” or more wide effects. Alternately, because they’re basically big holes in the object, allowing your intents to come out into the environment. seed- just like its name, I associate seed stitch with potential and growth. Garter- I tend to associate garter stitch with mundane life, alternately with its common use as a border stitch I associate it as a holding stitch, keeping things in (like secrets) or protected. Stockinette- a super common stitch pattern for fronts of things, especially socks (as per the name). I tend to associate it with appearances, and spells like glamour aids.
Blocking When/if you block, visualize the water charging your finished object. You can use scented wool wash in scents that are associated with the spell you’re doing, you have tons of options.
Beads, etc: You can get all kinds of things at craft stores! I found crystal charms last time I went that would look great on a heavier-weight shawl, there’s beads of various different materials and colors, if I went over all of these things it’d take a whole extra post. Play around and see what you like.
Finished products: Clothing- either for yourself or for others. Make ritual clothing or just a warmth-intent hat. Possibilities are totally endless. Poppet- maybe make a poppet out of yarn? Stuff it with things you want the poppet associated with? Disclaimer: don’t burn knit poppets unless you are 100% certain ALL ingredients are safe to burn wherever you’re burning them. I prefer to “destroy” my knit poppets by stabbing them with knitting needles, so that I can reuse them, even better, make the end drawstring-style, so you can reuse it with different ingredients. Eco friendly witchcraft! Spell swatch- I call it a spell swatch but it may have another name by now. It works pretty much exactly how it sounds, knit a swatch of fabric in varying colors, stitches, etc., based on what the spell is. Knit in beads or feathers or hair or whatever you feel like you should. Then pin it on your wall or carry it with you. It doesn’t have to (and probably won’t) look nice, it’s just a little spell to carry with you, like a very personalized sigil.
Other uses: knitting is great for meditation! Finding a simple pattern to knit for a while can leave your mind free to relax and do its own thing, I love leaving guided meditations, binaural tones, etc. on while I’m knitting things like socks or blankets.
It’s just turned 8:00 AM and I’ve already asked my orange cat, “What the fuck are you eating off the floor?!?” three times.
Btw, this is what I’m working with.
Copper In Magic
*originally posted by Keith666 in the SpellsOfMagic forums:
So yes, another discussion on a somewhat less discussed topic, which is Copper.
We all have an understanding of the importance of copper and it being the best conductor of electricity, and it's many uses in daily living, like computers, cars, electronics and yes, faster internet speeds, however to me , it seems copper goes abit unnoticed or less discussed pertaining to Religion, Magick and Witchcraft.
So I am going to attempt to put this topic out there, and give copper a much deserved place on the podium.
A little journey back to ancient times, where we learn that copper was primarily mined in Cyprus, which is also said to be the birth place of Aphrodite, Greek Goddess of love. So here we see copper and it's link to the symbol of love.
And when we link the symbol of love to copper, we find that copper is the alchemical element of Venus and is connected to the transformative process of love, beauty and harmony.
So with copper being one of the first metals mined and worked with by human hands, it becomes a metal that has been in existence for thousands of years, which was used by ancient civilizations for its most practical purposes, like tools, jewellery and sacred objects.
Copper has been associated with protective qualities in different cultures, it has the ability to ward off evil spirits, promote good luck, and protect against illness and negative energy.
In my religion, Hinduism, we have a copper object called a Yantra, it's a thin copper disc , probably a matchbox size, with the inscription of our choice of Divinity.
So too there are many traditions including Celtic and Native Americans who revere copper for its magical energies and properties. Often using it in divination, sacred rituals, making amulets, and also to connect with the spiritual realm.
Copper being high in vibrational energy, also embodies the quality of creativity, harmony, and this makes it an ideal tool in witchcraft spells regarding love , fertility and artistic inspiration.
Copper's magical essence is brought out in spellwork, it enhances intent related to amplifying energy and physical abilities. Copper provides a deep connection to love and Spirituality.
Copper has many healing properties, which extends to both body and mind. It promotes overall wellbeing and it gives mental clarity. I would say, it's an essential tool in healing practices.
I'm sure we all know someone or maybe one of you who wears a copper bracelet, or band, it's because of its pure and simple healing properties to the mind and body.
I wear an enchanted ring with cubic zirconias on them, the ring is copper.
Also in magick, a wand made with copper will help enhance, amplify and direct the energy that flows through it. One can enhance the energy of any magical tool that is set in copper or contains copper within. Copper is essential in healing work, fertility spells, prosperity spells and spells to attract love.
Copper brings emotional balance. As much as it attracts, vibrates, and conduct positive energy, it also has the ability to channel off negative energy in this same manner.
Anything negative cannot sustain itself on copper, and in scientific terms, copper is said to be antimicrobial, simply meaning that bacteria cannot survive on copper too long, their cells quickly start to weaken, they cannot reproduce, and they vanish, so this example should serve as reference, that negative energies cannot sustain itself on copper.
So a few copper correspondences:
Angel : Haniel
Gods/Goddess : Innana, Venus, Aphrodite
Chakra : Crown, Heart, Solar - Plexus
Element : Water
Astrological Sign : Taurus
Planet : Venus
Tarot : The Empress
I trust you enjoy the read.
Blessed Be

Goddess Glamour Bath
If you want to look stunning - and I mean head-turning, Helen of Troy, most-beautiful-person-they’ve-ever-seen stunning then do I have a spell for you. This spell was first made by the two of us, and it turned out far more successful than we could have imagined.
The primarily magical crux of the spell lies in the bath salt mixture, which should be made by (your) hand for best results.
Combine in a mortar and pestle:
A handful of sea salt
A handful of epsom salts
3 crushed up dried red rose petals
Essential oil of sweet orange
Essential oil of rose
Essential oil of jasmine
Some (body safe!) glitter
A dash of cinnamon
Grind together while envisioning your intent (which is to become a goddess incarnate).
For the spell itself, you will need:
The salts you just made
Several gold, pink or white candles
Items you find pretty
Dragon’s Blood incense
A small mirror
Lotion you like
A great, empowering, playlist (optional)
Rose is ridiculously expensive though. Need to look for alternatives or something that might be rose diluted with a bit of carrier oil.

Holiday Witch Ball Ornaments
What’s a more inconspicuous way to add witchcraft to the holiday season than by combining the well-known concept of Witch Balls with widely used ornaments? Add the following ingredients to either clear, glass ornaments (so they can be charged by compliments) or to solid ornaments (to be even more unnoticeable) for the desired effects.
