Repeat after me: - Veganism is not affordable - Veganism is not cruelty free - Veganism is not the best choice for everyone
Repeat after me -I’m an idiot and wrong. -Veganism can be made affordable. -Veganism is fucking cruelty free. That’s what it’s all about. - Veganism is the best choice for everyone, if everyone did it. -I’m a fucking asshole for making this completely wrong text post and should shut the hell up now.
Exploiting undocumented immigrants, and other workers is cruelty free? Nearly 500,000 children as young as six harvest 25 percent of US crops.
But I guess brown people don’t fucking matter.
People are literally starving in South America because all the Quinoa crop is being exported mainly for white vegans who want to live “cruelty-free” but don’t care about brown people as much as they do about animals.
plus, 4 of the 8 most common food allergies (soy, wheat, peanuts, and tree nuts) are common vegan substitutes.
hello i am also here with The Science™ to back up the fact veganism is NOT even the most sustainable dietary option for humanity, like not even in the ballpark of close
In italy there are cases of children that got to the hospital in starving conditions becuse they parents made them follow a vegan diet. Children need a lot of calcium and proteins to grow up unlike adults
In its 152-year history, Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. never had a deaf female president — until a year ago. Roberta Cordano is the first deaf woman to lead the school.
Gallaudet is a liberal arts university devoted to deaf and hard-of-hearing students. Classes are taught in American Sign Language, and all students and faculty are required to know how to sign.
But president Cordano never attended a deaf school herself.
“I grew up during a period of time when it was believed that American Sign Language was what they called a monkey language,” Cordano says, speaking through an interpreter provided by Gallaudet. While the interpreter translates rapidly, Cordano whispers out faintly in English as she signs.

Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto says he’s not paying for any US border wall
The Mexican president said in a stern video message that his country doesn’t “believe” in walls and will not be shelling out any part of the cost.
In a sitdown with ABC News, Trump brushed off Peña Nieto’s refusals and maintained Mexico would ultimately shoulder the price of the wall.
“I’m just telling you there will be a payment. It will be in a form, perhaps a complicated form,” Trump told ABC’s David Muir. Read more
Okay since tumblr is extremely america-centric we’re only hearing about trump but this post is there for me to freak out about Dutch Trump:
^^ that guy. Geert Wilders. Far right asshole first class.
The elections are in march 2017 and he is biggest in the polls. Which makes me extremely scared. A few reasons:
He wants to go out of the EU, and get rid of the euro (plain bad idea)
Extremely islamophobic
Wants to ban certain newspapers. Banning ideas: Horrible Sign #1
‘’Do you want more or less morrocans?’’ [crowd chants ‘’less, less, less-’’] (he is being prosecuted for hate speech now, mostly for this and his comments about islam: ‘’cleansing’’ the N of muslims, banning the Koran etc.)
Was literally not let into australia to give his speech. Thats how bad he is.
Anti-refugee
Can other Dutch people add to this list?
- He publicly endorses Trump - He uses grossly offensive language, calling for example the turkish primier ‘an islamic monkey’, hijabs ‘head rags’ and refugees/migrants ‘a tsunami’ - He once called a journalist who had been kidnapped and raped in Iraq a ‘jihad-sympatisant’ because she didn’t allow her case be used for islaphobic retorics - State he doesn’t hate muslims, but hates islam - He is highly xenophobe towards eastern europeans, constantly crimalizing them and accusing them of stealing jobs - His politic party, ‘party for the freedom’, defends and celebrates ‘black pete’, a blackface figure used in the celebration of a holiday in the Netherlands
This dude is part of a Europe wide trend; a dangerous lurch to the right, flirting with, or outright supporting fascism. These people have become just a little bit more frightening since first BREXIT, then the 🍊’s d dubious election 2016 ‘win’. Unfortunately, we cannot afford dismiss even one if these tin pot fascists as being a mere ‘local’ matter, as opposed to a world wide threat to everything progressive. From Putin to Trump to Farage (UK) and Gerry Wilders, (if he wins) are links in a new ‘Axis of Evil'😱😱😱
We can stop that trend.
It’s important to recognize the connections. The AfD publicly celebrated when Trump won. And now they’re starting to copy nazi symbolism.
Don’t be fooled and don’t keep quiet now.
That’s why these marches are so important. It’s NOT KEEPING QUIET.
Also, if you have Dutch nationality but are living abroad, YOU CAN STILL VOTE. You can register to vote up to and until the 1st of Feb. Please check whether you are eligible and how to register at http://www.stemmenvanuithetbuitenland.nl/
Shirley Chisholm. As the first black woman to run for president for a major political party, she was years ahead of her time. So why don’t more people know about her?
She championed a bill to ensure domestic workers received benefits, was an advocate for improved access to education, and fought for the rights of immigrants.
“She had guts, and she made people believe that they too can be someone, that we are equal, that gender doesn’t mean you can’t achieve the highest office of government,” her goddaughter Marya Boseley says.
That desire to break boundaries was what drove Shirley Chisholm to make a run for president in 1972, seeking the Democratic nomination a mere three years after she became a congresswoman.
Ms Chisholm, whose slogan was “Unbought and Unbossed,” said she never expected to win but hoped her candidacy would “change the face and future of American politics”.
“I stand before you today, to repudiate the ridiculous notion that the American people will not vote for qualified candidates, simply because he is not white or because she is not a male,” she told supporters as she launched her campaign.
I never heard her name in school. Other than hearing Method Man say “I voted for Shirley Chisholm” on Blackout, I knew nothing about her til I read about her on the internet as an adult.
The Democratic Party really fucked Shirley Chisolm over because they wanted a “safe” candidate in George Mcgovern. Then they lost to Nixon.

Ethics lawyers are suing Donald Trump for violating the Constitution
On Monday, Trump will be hit with a lawsuit that alleges he’s in violation of the Constitution’s Emoluments Clause, which prohibits politicians from receiving payments from foreign governments.
The lawsuit alleges Trump’s business empire violates this clause, as foreign leaders and governments spend money to stay in Trump hotels and live and rent space in his various other real estate holdings,
The lawsuit will be filed in New York by a group of legal powerhouses that includes former White House ethics lawyers from both sides of the aisle, Supreme Court litigators and well-known constitutional scholars.
Trump’s team, for its part, is dismissive of the lawsuit, claiming he’s not in violation of the Constitution. Read more
