Alex Levin lost his negotiations with the sun - but don’t tell him that.
When you see it for the first time.
@fjallravenusa-blog West Coast Trail - British Columbia - 2017 @jaykolsch
The West Coast Trail was the wettest it's been in five years and made hiking feel more like crawling. Mud that could swallow you past your gaiters was the foundation on the trail. The boardwalks and bridges where so slick and dank we often chose to stay in the mud or slop through the water rather than risk the inevitable ego crushing and potentially dangerous fall. It took 3 days to do the first 30k. I wouldn't call it hard but it definitely wasn't easy. Often if we weren't to worked we would gather with the other trekkers in camp (whoever had a fire going) to warm up and dry out. Those moments are what makes wilderness travel so special.

Super excited to have my work accepted and published in the Outdoor Photographer of the year Portfolio. It's so cool to see my work along side such amazing photographers. Vatnajökull glacier, Iceland: What makes a glacier unique is it’s ability to move and change. As the glacier flows the topical features change and distort. I wanted to capture the wonderful ice bridge before it was gone. To our surprise the bridge had function as well as form as it served as the fastest and safest way up.
