There was this really cute game called Littlewood I noticed, and I thought you might enjoy it, it’s much more laid back so I guess it’d be a nice break from the stressful animal simulators like WolfQuest, as much as I love it lol

If you could upgrade your channel in any way for free and without any effort at all, what would you do to it?

Heck that’s a good question ghghghg.  I’d probably want my own studio/secluded soundproof area.  My recording can be super dependent on what’s going on around me and it’d be nice not to have to worry about others being too loud for me, or me being too loud for others oops.

Hello Jay! I just wanted to ask you what kind of drawing tablet and drawing app you use to draw and animate (if you use a tablet). I really would like to try to get one and dive into drawing and maybe learn to animate someday as well. It seems really daunting, but I'm willing to try. I have an idea for a story in my head, but I'm afraid that I'll be copyrighting it because it's based on a game series. This is kinda long, but I just had to off my chest. Thanks Jay. ~MetaDragon~

Hey!  I use Photoshop with a Wacom Cintiq.  Unfortunately those aren’t the easiest to get ahold of if you’re just starting out, but Wacom does make cheaper tablets, and I’ve heard good things about some of the other tablet companies out there too.  As for animation, I’m less versed in good programs for that, but I do believe there are more cheaper/free alternatives coming out.  GIMP does animation, or did at one point, and though I’m less fond of their interface, if you’re just starting out it’s not so bad for practice.  I’m sure there are other programs too but unfortunately I don’t know much about those.

Honestly, most ideas draw inspiration from somewhere, even subconsciously.  As long as you’re not using copyrighted characters/places/names/etc. or completely copying the world, you’re probably alright as long as it’s just inspired by the game and not directly based in it.

What TV shows did you watch when you were a kid? and which one was your favorite?

Honestly, I think I watched more movies than tv (and probably still do tbh xD).  I was a big fan of the HtTYD movies, though, so when the TV series for that came out I was really into that!

I would really like to get into animation, but I don't know where to start. Any tips?

YouTube has a wealth of tutorials that can really help you get started, but this is one of my favorites!

It covers the 12 principles of animation, which are super helpful to know!  But there are loads of other great tutorials out there too-- so much so that I do believe it’s fully possible to learn to animate well without going to a school for it.  I took one course at my community college which did help-- but the biggest benefit of taking courses is the ability to get feedback imo.  I’ve seen tutorials that covered a lot of what we learned there available for free, but with that you don’t necessarily get feedback from people who have experience in animation the way you would in an actual class.  But even if it’s outside of a class setting, if you find some people who know what they’re talking about with animation and are willing to help give you feedback, that can be invaluable.

Otherwise, the biggest thing is practice, practice, practice.  The more you draw and animate, the more your art will improve as a whole.  I started animating seriously somewhere in the 2016-2017 area.  I’m leaps and bounds from where I used to be now because I’ve kept at it.  Sometimes progress is slow and painful and it’s easy to wish it would go faster, but it really is one of those things where slow and steady wins the race.  Even if you just draw one small thing each day, you’ll find yourself getting better over time.

What color is your most favorite, and what color is your least favorite?

Blue is definitely my fave hands down, and I have a strong dislike for yellow!  It’s much too bright and hurts my eyes ;-;

Pale yellow ain’t so bad!  And I’m fond of yellowy-cream colors in natural animal designs!  It’s mostly the bright dandelion yellows that hurt me lol.

Did you hear "Over and out" from FalconDevelops? or did you just come up with it?

So “over and out” became sort of my catchphrase by complete and total accident, and dates all the way back to my first episode ever on the JayPlays channel, back in 2016.  It exists because I reached the end of the episode, realized I had no idea how I planned to end it, panicked, and blurted out the first thing that came to mind-- which happened to be “and until next time, this is Jay-- over and out”.  I was terribly afraid everyone would think it was cringy, but for the sake of consistency I dared not stop using it, and a few months into the channel people started commenting on it and I realized people actually liked it, so I kind of just... kept it from then on out lol.

If we’re being strictly technical, I’d already been using that outro for a while by the time Falcon posted his first videos.  But I mean, I’m certainly not the first one to use it ever, and honestly I think he probably picked that ending on his own, completely unrelated to me.  I doubt it’s a case of anyone copying the phrase, but rather just the two of us happening to come up with a common flair unrelatedly lol.

Will Eagle Island return? I really enjoy it.

It was a really fun series but I don’t have current plans.  I’d love to revisit it at one point but unfortunately when I did the series, interest started to wane.  So we’ll see-- maybe someday.

Hi Jay! I play WolfQuest on my mom’s MacBook Air (I think that’s what it’s called lol) but I can only play it on fast graphics. I was thinking about investing in a new computer that can run the game like yours. What do you use to play WolfQuest: AE or what would you recommend?

Hey!  My computer is a custom build, but the biggest thing you’ll want is a good graphics card.  WolfQuest did a video on graphics cards and showed a chart of ones that should be able to run the game.

A decent amount of RAM is important too-- I have 32GB but you could probably make due with 16, or maybe 8.  You’ll also want to make sure you have a pretty good CPU.  For the most part, if you research up on your options, you’ll likely be good!

Have you ever played any Nintendo games?

Only a few-- I had a DS and a Wii at various points of life, but not a huge number of games.  I think the main actual nintendo game I played was Mario Kart haha.

What happened to the video for your channels' first year anniversary that had funny moments chosen by the viewers?

Oh bruh, that was a while ago.  I think it sort of backfired because I didn’t get a lot of responses, so it just didn’t happen?  I believe I overestimated the response I actually got and then only had a handful of clips, unfortunately.

Might be something I should try again though, since I get a decent number of comments per video now...
