We’re halfway through Justin’s first summer and Josephine’s fourth in Minnesota. It’s been mostly 70s and 80s with a few heatwaves and thunderstorms but otherwise relatively pleasant. We’ve celebrated birthdays, explored the cities both by ourselves and with family, and settled into the routine of living.
Josephine teaches online ESL in the wee hours of the morning before Justin gets out of bed. How he handles the repetition of words, Josephine will never know. After class, Josephine is off to her barista job, making delicious espresso and coffee beverages.

Often we have meals at home, opting for simple meals like chick pea or caprese salads, or soups. We do like to eat out, and our favorite restaurants so far include Red Cow, Hell’s Kitchen, and Chino Latino.

Weekend plans to a lake often seemed foiled by rain but we were fortunately able to drive up to Josephine’s grandparents’ in Battle Lake for a cousin’s graduation party. The winds made swimming a bit chilly, but it was a beautiful day to sit on the dock and relax. Even Percival braved the dock to be with us. Perhaps one day he’ll be brave enough to go for a swim.

Josephine and Justin enjoy sitting on the dock.
We’re in Day 350 of JC Squared Adventures, and hopefully we’ll be able to enjoy more of what Minnesotans dub “lake life.”
