There was some really pretty stuff happening on the train home. The prettiest part was when we woke up in the snowy Cascades, though. I love the Northwest the best...unfortunately it didn't photograph all that well.

Breakfast and cupcakes with Nick before leaving Chicago on the Empire Builder and heading toward home.
Executed our usual M.O. and walked around all day while the snow came down hard. People were impressed with our resilience.
Hot Doug's: Mission Accomplished.
While it was still sunny and dry in Chicago, we took the green line down to the University and visited the Robie House. Then we rode up to the Art Institute and got all Ferris Bueller.
Cookie and Lewis are cool dudes.
We took two trains and a bus to Detroit, which made it the most transfer-filled and grueling leg of our trip to date, but it was totally worth it. Rick and Rosa picked us up at the station and took us on a driving tour of the city. We checked out the mansions, a bunch of historical buildings, and the Motown Museum (amazing!). Then we had lunch in Greek Town and took the People Mover over to the Auto Show, which felt like visiting a spaceship convention.
South Street in Philly
We went on a pretty epic long walk through Philly with Jamie and visited lots of old things and new things. Philly is one of my favorite cities for sure.
Philly!
Our last morning in New York. Jamie and I walked down to the bagel shop to meet Brendan (who was on a run, so looked extra stylin'). A simple bagel breakfast, then the Bolt bus to Philly!
New York was an explosion of friendship after our "we don't know anyone" trip across Canada. Knowing everyone and knowing no one both have their benefits.
Jamie came up to the city to spend a couple days with us. We stayed in an awesome apartment on South 4th, ate a lot of good food, hung out with New York friends we haven't seen in ages, and had a generally awesome time.
In a hilariously random turn, we ended up at a really great bistro-type place in Brooklyn after a long day of walking that was sort of Canadian themed. They had poutine, and the bathroom was covered in Canadiens memorabilia. Weird!
The most amazing food...A chicken biscuit and collard greens from Pies and Thighs.
Hello, Brooklyn!
There was some pretty lovely stuff happening on the train ride from Halifax to Montreal...
We walked up to the Halifax Citadel and explored. There were people marching in formation down in the yard, and a very good dog was following along.
We took the train from Quebec City to Halifax, where we wandered around for a couple days. It was so warm and sunny, after Quebec it felt like summer!
