The world is wide, and I will not waste my life in friction when it could be turned into momentum.

Final day in paradise with Dr. Jung before returning to my country. A long but brilliant set of thoughts: --- "There is no sense in formulating the task that our age has forced upon us as a moral demand. We may hope for men of understanding and men of goodwill, and must therefore not grow weary of reiterating those thoughts and insights which are needed. Finally, even the truth can spread and not only the popular lie. --- The horror which the dictator States have of late brought upon mankind is nothing less than the culmination of all those atrocities of which our ancestors made themselves guilty of in the not so distant past. In this respect the white man carries a very heavy burden indeed. --- Man has done these things; I am a man, who has his share of human nature; therefore I am guilty with the rest and bear unaltered and indelibly within me the capacity and the inclination to do them again at any time. None of us stands outside humanity's black collective shadow. --- Harmlessness and naïveté are as little helpful as it would be for a cholera patient and those in his vicinity to remain unconscious of the contagiousness of the disease. On the contrary, they lead to the projection of the unrecognized evil into the 'other.' This strengthens the opponent's position in the most effective way, because the projection carries the fear which we involuntarily and secretly feel for our own evil over to the other side and considerably increases the formidableness of his threat." (at Grand Cayman Island)
“To the doubters, the naysayers, to everyone who gave me hell, and said that I could not, that I would not, that I must not—your resistance made me stronger., made me push harder, made me the fighter, that I am today. Made me the woman that I am today. So thank you.
“If you don’t know it’s impossible, then it’s easier to do.” “A freelance life, a life in the arts, is sometimes like putting messages in bottles on a desert island and hoping someone will find one of your bottle, open it, read it, and put something in a bottle that will wash its way back to you: appreciation, or a commission, or money, or love, and you have to accept that you may put out hundreds of things for every bottle that winds up coming back. The problems of failure, of discouragement, of hopelessness, of hunger. You want everything to happen, you want it now, and things go wrong.” “When things get tough, this is what you should do: make good art.” “The moment that you feel that just possibly you’re walking down the street naked, exposing too much of your heart and your mind and what exists on the inside, showing too much of yourself, that’s the moment you may be starting to get it right.” “My advice was to pretend she was someone who could do it.”
My best advice comes in two parts: First, bold delusion. It all boils down to that. You have to believe in yourself in an almost crazy way. You have to be bold enough to make something from nothing over and over again. And you have to be delusional enough to think that your ideas are valuable, which is, of course, not delusional at all.
