Sad News...
Ladies and gentlemen, I, Dolley Madison, regret to announce that my husband James, a loyal and passionate man who has served his country, has passed away today, June 28th, 1836. History will continue to remember you as the great man, husband and president of the United States. May you forever rest in peace.
Watching the sunset with my wife!
I can see that America is in good hands with Mr. Monroe. USA! USA! USA!
Update
I’m so glad to be home with my wife. It’s been very long, and so much has changed since that last day I was president. I’ve been very active in so many other civic causes because I just can’t get enough of American Politics, and I want to make my country a better place for me, my wife, my children and future generations. Something else is that I became the rector of the University of Virginia.
Though I have left the position of president, I trust the new president Mr. James Monroe to do a good job and serve our country. Dolley, my love, I’m coming home!
I would like to congratulate the new president-elect Mr. James Monroe, for he is a trustworthy man who will indeed continue to do great things for his country. I wish you good luck on your new position!
So sad to be leaving the position of president. I, however, wish good luck and success to any and all presidents after me. God Bless America!
Woke up to this beautiful view. It is very sunny and I hear birds singing. This will be a good day!
Really liked this portrait done by the very talented John Vanderlyn.
Last presidential meal…
Father of the Constitution, out! ✌️
John Payne Todd
Happy 25th birthday John! Even though I am not your real dad, you are the best step-son I could have ever asked for. Marrying your beautiful mother was the best decision I ever made!
BTW, for those of you that always wondered, I never had another Vice President for the remaining of my second term because Elbridge Gerry suffered a fatal hemorrhage and passed away. He is the second Vice President that dies under my presidency so I decided it was enough.
Rest in Peace to George Clinton. Today marks 5 years since your death. Thank you for your great service to this country and your fellow Americans.
Just look at this beauty!
I officially announce to you... the Second Bank of the United States!
The Bonus Bill of 1817 has a good idea, but where are we supposed to find congressional power for the funds of roads and canals? I understand the need for improvements, but I find it unconstitutional.
