Narcissus Garden is the last installation of Yayoi Kusama , based in Rockaway, Queens, a vacation spot where city dwellers seeking rest from the life of the metropolis take refuge in summer. Until September 3, they will have the opportunity to visit this work in the old train shed of Fort Tilden. It is a repetitive grouping of 1500 steel spheres producing mirror effects. While walking, the spectators can admire their scintillating image with repetition but also the dilapidated shed, destroyed by a hurricane. A subtle metaphor that evokes the myth of Narcissus and the dangers of vanity.
