Asexuality explained in terms that you should understand.
Alright, I'm going to take a moment to explain something that very few of you understand. And it's okay that you don't understand, but perhaps this will help you to. I am in no way insinuating that asexuals receive even a quarter the amount of disrespect or flack as gay/trans people. However, being asexual, I feel it is necessary to inform you all of what it means (to me, at least). The most frequent comment I hear is "you just haven't had good sex/ met the right person". I slept around more than I probably should have in my youth in an attempt to figure out what was "wrong" with me. I never understood why sex seemed to be such an all-consuming act for so many people, because I never enjoyed the physical aspect of it. That being said, I enjoy the feeling of being close or connected emotionally to someone, and sex is a wonderful way to accomplish that. But not once have I ever impulsively thought about having sex with someone, or looked at a guy and thought "wow, I wonder what he is like in bed", or absolutely anything along those lines, towards anybody. I am a straight asexual because I, too, experience physical attraction towards the male gender, but not sexual attraction (lust). Ultimately I came to the conclusion of asexuality simply because I realized that I could honestly live the rest of my life without sex and not be missing anything. However, considering there aren't many of us out there, I choose to have sex because I know that it is important to the majority of people. Asexuals do not "hate" sex. We aren't "incapable" of having sex. No, it isn't a result of "sexual abuse" or trauma. We just do not get sexually aroused. That does not make us incapable of enjoying kissing, romance, etc. (See: aromantic). Some people have a very difficult time comprehending this, and I'd be confident in saying that most of you probably even doubt the existence of it as a legitimate sexuality. But for a long time, I spoke with doctors and psychiatrists regarding this "problem" and actually took medication in hopes of increasing my sex drive. Then I discovered the asexual community, and met others who were exactly like me. Although some people argue that I am not asexual, all I have to say in response to such claims is this: It is how I feel most comfortable explaining my sexuality when asked to categorize it, and for that reason and that reason alone, with absolutely nothing else taken into regard, I am asexual.
Oh my god.

Gerard, one and a half hours. :)
The most difficult days of my life were High School - 3,000 kids saw me dressed like Brian Connolly of the Sweet on a daily basis, and I swear, at least 70% had contempt for me based on that alone. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, photos from my impersonating days! PS. I'm sorry to the other *5* Sweet fans on here, as I have not been active AT ALL. :(
