“Ah that’s when one has to get creative.” Brooke rose her brows with giving a grin. “I mean nowadays there’s so much ideal stuff for someone to get that would be perfect for small spaces and trips.” 

“You’re not wrong there. Minimalist living’s a bit thing after all, especially a million and one storage ideas to hide all the clutter you actually have away,” Josh laughed. “Not that I have too much of that.”

“Oh the places and adventures you probably went through!” Georgie exclaimed excitedly, “you will have to tell me all about it some other time.” She said gently. “Thank you, it is still not one hundred percent the way I imagine it, but it is clearly getting there for sure,” she said proudly. “For over….” she frowned, trying to think of his question. “Five years now? Wow! Time does fly.”

“You know, I definitely will. Coffee date or something to catch up properly maybe?” It’s not as though he didn’t have time for it, but he didn’t doubt for a moment that Georgie would be crazy busy with her store. “Getting there’s better than not at all I’d say.” He shrugged his shoulders gently. “What else are you planning on doing?” He couldn’t help but be curious about that considering the confined space he lived in.

“I’m sure a fair majority of people would agree with you,” Logan returned with a nod of his head. Following the other’s direction, the mechanic kept pace, “No worries, man. Always happy to help.” Well. That was a small lie. Most of the time he was happy to help. And since he had no pressing matters to attend to, he could spend a few minutes mulling around.

“More than likely.” It was one of those things; totally human nature. Everybody always attempted to do more than they were capable of, when it came to absolutely everything in life. “Good to know,” Josh responded with a smile. “I think it’s a dead cert. I would have got into a mess today if you didn’t.”

“It’s not problem, you weren’t to know,” she smiled softly, she didn’t want him to feel guilty, but she was glad that he adjusted. “You definitely have a point there,” she smiled, picking up what he wanted and looking to see where he needed it moved to. “Why do you have so much?”

A nod and Josh flashed her an appreciative smile. “It’s my curse I suppose, always get a little carried away with everything,” he said with a gentle chuckle. “But this is a case of I bought too much in the grocery store. Usually I could use the excuse that I’m having a party, but there’s not really enough space where I live for that.”

“Yeah of course.” Olivia didn’t twice about grabbing the bag and handing it over to the guy. “Believe me, its way better to be over prepared. There’s nothing worse then getting somewhere and realizing you forgot something essential.” If there was anything she learned during her oversea’s princess training, it was that of always being over prepared for anything and all things. 

Josh hadn’t exactly meant for her to hand it to him, but he also didn’t want to be rude, so he nodded his head, a smile crossing his features —- he was pretty much loaded up like a pack horse now. “I guess not,” he said with a chuckle. “Would you mind just walking down this way with me a little so my stuff... or, you know, I don’t end up in the water?”

Brooke was pulled from her thoughts when she heard a guy talking. Looking at him before looking down at the bag. “Yeah sure, no problem.” she bent down and picked up the bag before handing it to him. “You know I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being prepared. Like they say, ‘better safe than sorry’.” Brooke shrugged.

“Maybe not,” answered Josh with a slight wrinkle of his nose. “But when you’re living on a boat and only have so much space, there’s definitely only so far that you can go. Don’t want to sink the thing, wouldn’t work out too well for me.”

Staring out at the water, Nate let his mind wander away to what it must be like to be caught in a storm while sailing. Not your typical thought process after never thinking about do so much as sailing in the first place but the thought was quickly put on the backburner when Joshua’s voice pulled him out of his own head. “Huh? — Oh yeah I’ve got it,” Nate responded quietly, taking the bag. “We all try doing it. I don’t know how many times I’ve tried to carry everything from my car up the apartment stairs only to have to make more trips over stuff I can’t get or forgot.”

It wasn’t at all surprising that the person Josh had chosen to speak to didn’t even realise he was being spoken to at first. The ocean had that effect on people, it certainly did on him after all —- well, had done for the last couple of years, at least. “Thanks, man,” he answered simply, when his request was acknowledged. “Appreciate it.” And he did. Any help was appreciated these days, especially so considering he felt he didn’t exactly have a lot of friends around here. “Suppose we do. But then, never been the sharpest tool in the box... or whatever.” Not strictly true, he’d once been a cop, but when it came to things like this, not so much.

Xo offered a nod before grabbing the bag, “planning on a trip? ” They didn’t really know how to make any other sense for all the stuff he had seem to be carrying. “That would be a good idea, one day you’re gonna hurt yourself,” they told him as they reach a hand out, “I can carry one more thing.”

“When aren’t I?” was Josh’s gentle reply as he glanced their way. A moment later a laugh escaped him as he gestured as well as he could with his arms full towards the boat. “No, you’re good, I think I’ve got the rest. Thanks for helping out, though. You’d think by now I’d actually have this figured out.”

Logan looks down, following the others gaze to the bag. “Yeah, no worries,” the mechanic hoisted up the bag. “Pretty sure that’s a thing. Like grocery bags. You always gotta carry ‘em all at the same time. Who has time to take more than one trip somewhere?”

Josh had to laugh at the other man’s words, nodding his head. There was a lot of truth behind his statement, that was for sure. “Pretty much,” he responded, chuckling. “I think we’re all the same, right?” He paused a moment, and then indicated with his head. “Just this way. Thanks, man.”

Sophie missed the fact that he was talking to her briefly but then she managed to tune in near the end of his request. “Uh this?” she asked, pointing down at the bag that was on the floor. “Sorry, I totally missed what you said,” she admitted, “can you look at me? It’s really loud here.” Sophie didn’t always enjoy asking people to adjust for her, but sometimes it had to be done. She tucked her hair behind her ear in the hope that it would reveal her hearing aid and maybe he’d understand.

“Oh. Right. Yeah. I’m sorry.” Josh was quick in adjusting his position so that she could see him, although at the time he’d been too busy moving things around to even be passing attention to who he’d been talking to. As far as he was concerned, they were a random passer by and he hadn’t thought much further than that. To be honest, though, it was loud down this way —- it always was. ”I was saying how to need to stop trying to carry so much,” he added then.

“Hey... don’t mean to be a pain in the ass, but is there any chance you can grab that bag for me?” Honestly, it was a miracle that Josh had even made it down as far as where his boat was docked, but as for getting things onto the actual boat or down the jetty —- he wasn’t having much luck. “I really need to stop trying to carry so much down here,” he added with a roll of his eyes.

“Oh please, tell me. I’m all about disappointing authority figures.” The brunette said with a shake of her head as she folded her arms over her chest. “Yeah, that or doing the whole living in my van and putting a bed in there. I’m just not sure how I’d feel about having to rush to a store just to go out for a pee.” She shrugged then, knowing she could probably get accustomed. “Lead the way, babe.”

“Maybe later...” It was a sure fire way to kill any kind of mood really, talking about his parents and his ridiculous upbringing —- even if Josh was the only one who thought it was ridiculous. “Yeah, there’s nothing all too practical about that one. Wouldn’t really work in the long run.” His shoulders lifted in a casual shrug and before long they were heading down in the direction of the pier, his boat moored just up ahead. “Another couple of minutes and we’ll be there,” he told her with a smile.

“Really? Good, good that you stopped.” Georgie said, a warm smile on her face at this statement. She knew her shop wasn’t a go to from many people, so it was nice to occasionally find interesting people like Josh stumbling upon the shelves. Yes, it is! Quite alright, isn’t it? I felt like I needed a place to share my shenanigans with others, what better than a store like this?” Georgie asked, opening her arms to show her surroundings.

“Well, yeah, ‘cause I was travelling around the state for three years, too.” If he hadn’t actually come back here, Josh really could have been anywhere. Maybe even in Oregon in fact, he’d spent enough time there, it could have been entirely possible. As she continued, he took a moment to look around, taking it all in, absorbing it all. It was pretty impressive all in all. “It’s great,” he answered with a grin. “How long have you had it?”

“They think you’re crazy because you live on a boat?” She asked with a furrow of her brow since she felt that was the silliest thing ever. “Granted, I haven’t seen the thing yet but it sounds like a fun time to me. I was thinking about buying a damn container and making an apartment out of it so I’ve heard a lot worse and weirder than a boat.” She shrugged her shoulder. “Shall we?”

“That’s exactly what they think. Don’t even start me on my parents opinion.” His parents, who Josh had pretty much avoided since the day he’d left Savannah. Honestly, the less said about them and what they though about the way he lived now, the better. “You were? Now, see, that’s awesome. That original. You could do so much with that.” He chuckled, finishing off his drink when she mentioned leaving again, and then nodded. “Let’s go!”

Huff of laughter left his lips, while he was amused at the other man’s words he was always less than amused by society’s expectations and demands. The apparent need to not be alone was one that had been parroted at him time and time again but in truth it only made him want to seek his own company even more. “And that many people can’t be wrong, can they?” The words came out practically as a scoff, making it perfectly clear where his opinion on it all lay. “Not sure, I went right to the hard stuff.” He lifted his glass of scotch slightly before shrugging. “I’ll just get too specials.” He leaned forward on the bar, trying to catch the bartender’s attention once more.

“Apparently not.” Although most of the time, Josh was inclined to think that they were wrong. He’d had enough experiences to tell him otherwise over the last couple of years. As Carver explained how’d he’d been straight onto the liquor, he had to laugh a little. Honestly, that could have quite easily been his plan for the night, but he was trying not to fall back into back habits. “I think that works,” he responded with a simple nod of his head.

“I mean, a farce most of the time. Nostradamus was right about a lot of things, or are we denying what he said are somewhat impressive?” He never really believed in prophecies, horoscopes or anything like that. And he laughed at the television shows too, how are you supposed to read someone via the phone? But that aside. “It’s something to think about, I guess?” 

“I think for the most part there’s no point in dwelling on anything that may turn out bad. Every day’s a fresh start and all that, live for the moment,” responded Josh with a casual shrug. “I try not to think about these things too much now. When I was younger it was amusing, but now...? After his life had unexpectedly been turned upside down in a day without warning, he couldn’t help but ignore those kinds of things now. “Maybe so.”
