“So am I”, Kevin admitted, a wide grin on his face. “So… I should get going.”
He stood up, offering June his hand so she could stand as well. Once they were both standing, she walked him to the door, the both of them pausing long enough for him to grab his coat.
“I had a great time tonight”, he murmured before kissing her softly.
“So did I. Text me when you get home?”
Kevin grinned. “Will do. Goodnight, June.”
“Night, Kevin.”
Kevin headed out, whistling to himself as he headed home. He had never really been one for the whole New Year’s Eve party scene, but now that June would be his date, he found himself excited about it. Once Kevin reached his place, he pulled out his cell phone and typed out a text to June.
“I just got home. I can’t wait to see you tomorrow.”
Hitting send, he snorted when he noticed he had a message on his answering machine, assuming it was Krysta being nosy.
June cleaned up and locked herself away in her room. She wasn’t ready to share tonight with her dad when he got home. June wished that she had a best friend right now, some one to ring up or message and gush over the night’s events.Â
The sad thing was she didn’t. And the people she had started to get close to she had completely alienated. Susie had started to be a good friend and then June shot that horse in the face.Â
She smiled when she got the message from Kevin.
I can’t wait either. Sweet dreams tonight, Kevin. xxoo
Kevin couldn’t help the groan that escaped his lips, his mind already supplying him with images of what that entailed.
“I’ll just have to play my cards right and stay in your good graces.”
June’s smile lit up her face. “Now I like the way that sounds.”
“I was hoping you would”, Kevin murmured before sparing a quick glance at their wine glasses. “Do you want anymore wine?”
“I don’t think there is enough wine left for the both of us.” June replied, she glanced at the clock and let out a sigh. “And if Dad is on time he might be here at any time. I doubt we’re at the meet the parents stage since we’ve been dating all of an hour and a half.”
Kevin chuckled. “Most people wait a few weeks for that.”
“I’ll be seeing you tomorrow night, right?” June said, she wasn’t sure she wanted to tonight to end but one of the downfalls of being a grown woman who lived with her father was that it did hamper dating.Â
“You are.” Kevin nodded and his grin made June very happy.Â
“I think I’m already excited for it.” June admitted, and it was true.Â
“I like kissing you, too”, Kevin murmured, his breath tickling June’s lips as he chuckled softly. “I do know what you mean. I felt like a teenager just coming over here.”
June arched an eyebrow as she giggled. “You did?”
“I did. I kept wondering if this was a date or not, and if I would seem a bit creepy with the wine and the being dressed like it’s a date.”
June giggled again and kissed him. “You’re cute.”
“You’re cuter.”
“If it is any consolation, I’m dressed for a date from my head to my toes.” June said meaning to make Kevin feel a little better, the look he gave as he regarded her and looked from her head down to her toes made her think he wasn’t thinking about himself.Â
“Oh really.”
“Mmhmm.” June said finding herself warming under his gaze. “Maybe on one of our dates you’ll find out just what the entails.”
She looked down demurely as she teased him, though the grin curling her lips gave away her streak of wickedness.Â
