The power loom was similar to a regular hand loom however it created cloth faster and more efficiently.

The Power loom was patented in 1785 by Edmund Cartwright, an English scholar who studied at Oxford University.
The first power loom was set up in Doncastor, England at a factory.
Cartwright also invented the wool-combing machine in 1789.
