I go by k_quire on every platform, but my first name starts with N. You can call me k_quire, N, or Nell, whatever you'd like! My pronouns are she/her but I'm not picky.
What I Do
I've been a fanfic author for a long time, but just recently began sharing my work again on AO3! Here's my account.
Right now, I'm writing mostly X-Files content. Here's my recent work!

Interests
I've had quite a few special interests over the years. The primary ones have been Ouran Highschool Host Club, Twilight (that was a weird phase, silver lining is discovering gay feelings for Kristen Stewart), Baldur's Gate 3 (love!), Bones, and currently The X-Files. I'm open to so many more fandoms, though.
I don't make visual art myself, so I appreciate artwork so much. I'm also an edit connoisseur! I love me some angst.
My page is a safe place for queer and neurodivergent people, as I'm someone from both communities!
Season 9 decimates Scullyās character in several ways, but Doggett and Reyes bringing her in for interrogations like sheās their scary dog is special to me.

Mulder is truly the celibate slut representation we deserve. he doesnāt fuck, he watches 80+ hours of porn every week, awkward and bemused when woman actually flirt with him, drops sexual innuendos like his life depends on it, gets called a loser by absolute strangers, in love with his coworker, fled to find mothman when same coworker tried to seduce him, black turtlenecksā¢, doesnāt own a bed, woman find him hot until he starts talking, loses his shirt every few episodes, has a homoerotic Russian nemesis, feeds his fish instead of going on dates, draws big titty bigfoot, mopes when his girlfriend is out of town, once had sex on Sir Conan Doyleās tombstone, meets up with a guy called Deep Throat but itās not what you think, a ghost showed him her hole but itās not what you think, undoubtably has ranked every cryptid by fuckability, that one vampire episode, basically the damsel in a bodice ripper, makes out with Scullyās forehead, visibly turned on whenever ufos are mentioned etc. etc.
And every time Krycek returns, I do a lap around my living room and curse him and his mother and his motherās mother and his motherās motherās mother andā¦
the one thing I'll say about MSR in the context of the IWTB Director's cut is this:
Chris Carter has said that the characters of Mulder and Scully in part were expressions of two sides of himself. So the whole point of the show, whether he knew it or not, is whether (or how) those two sides - the believer and skeptic - can exist as a unit. How (or whether) they can not just survive but thrive TOGETHER.
In an important way, the tension between Mulder and Scully is an internal tension, not an external one. It's not two opposites coming together; they're a single unit. They have to be, because Chris Carter is a single unit. He's writing these characters to try to find a way for those parts of himself to find some peace with each other. (Again, whether he consciously knew he was doing that or not, I'd say.) So the WHOLE POINT OF THE SHOW, the story at its heart, is whether and how Mulder and Scully find peace with each other.
Now, romantic intimacy is just one device for telling that story. But's a powerful enough tool that a writer would need an equally strong or stronger reason for NOT using it. Whether there is one isn't the point here, because the show DID use it through the romance that exists in the regular seasons and the first movie.
So, what cutting MSR out of IWTB does is cut out the core theme of the franchise without having any compelling reason to do so. You could maybe cut out the aliens and still have a coherent X-Files story (MAYBE), but you definitely cannot cut the relationship stuff, because it is the relationship between Mulder (belief) and Scully (skepticism) that has always been, fundamentally, what the show is about.

Itās times like these I think about āMilagroā and how, if Padgett keeps writing, Scully will die, and itās only by throwing his own words into the fire that she can live.
But Chris Carter resents the fact that his alien monster show turned into a love story popular with women so much that heās spent the last 25ish years roleplaying as Padgett if heād kept writing, and in doing so, incinerated the characters in the process. Now heās actively removing them from the story altogether. Breaking them up, cutting them out of IWTB, signing off on a Mulder/Scullyless reboot. Iād actually find it supremely fascinating if it didnāt piss me off so much.

I recently rewatched āFire,ā debatably the first instance of Scully being jealous, and an observation struck me!
All the iconic examples of Scullyās jealousy have one thing in common: professional rivals. Bambi the entomologist, Phoebe Green the inspector, Diana Fowley the mother of the X-files.
This moment from āRain Kingā comes to mind.
Scullyās reaction is more of an āoh brother,ā even a little bemused, rather than any sort of real tension. Sheila Fontaine isnāt a rival for Scully because sheās not a professional or intellectual match.
Scullyās self-worth is tied to her intelligence, work ethic, and skill. She uses all three to help Mulder (and still worries she does nothing but hinder him, a la Fight the Future) and only ever feels threatened by someone when she thinks they may equal her in these areas.
Of course, no one ever really does, but thatās a secret for Mulder to keep. ;)
