absolutely crucial that you understand “strong as fuck ice mummy” is a genuine plot point in zero escape 999
Obviously blonde4blonde ships are fucked up and scary, but it's important to remember that fiction isn't reality. Many people enjoy things in fiction that would be fucked up irl, and writing blonde4blonde ships doesn't inherently mean that someone is actually okay with two blonde people dating in real life.
Matt Braly, creator of Amphibia, is starting a studio! Their first project will be called Clara and the Below, a gothic reimagining of the Nutcracker.
people are trying to argue in my notes that it's not misogyny why spamtenna is the most popular thing in deltarune by a significant margin it's just because they're adult characters so that's what the adult deltarune fans are latching onto . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . crazy how there haven't been any plot relevant adult characters in deltarune up until now but since there haven't been i guess my perspective is null and void huh. oh well. it must be feel really nice to live in the world where everything just happens to be a really crazy coincidence that lines up to make male characters more beloved than anyone else and there are never any larger social factors we may have to consider in what sort of things get popular or not.
I love animation history and one of the things that always baffled me was how did animators draw the cars in 101 Dalmatians before the advent of computer graphics?
Any rigid solid object is extremely challenging for 2D artists to animate because if one stray line isn’t kept perfectly in check, the object will seem to wobble and shift unnaturally.
Even as early as the mid 80’s Disney was using a technique where they would animate a 3D object and then apply a 2D filter to it. This practice could be applied to any solid object a character interacts with: from lanterns a character is holding, to a book (like in Atlantis), or in the most extreme cases Cybernetic parts (like in Treasure Planet).
But 101 Dalmatians was made WAY before the advent of this technology. So how did they do the Cruella car chase sequence at the end of the film?
The answer is so simple I don’t know why it didn’t occur to me sooner:
They just BUILT the models and painted them white with black outlines 🤣
That was the trick. They’re not actually 2D animated, they’re stop motion. They were physical models painted white and filmed on a white background. The black outlines become the lineart lines and they just xeroxed the frame onto an animation cel and painted it like any other 2D animated frame.
That’s how they did it! Isn’t that amazing? It’s such a simple low tech solution but it looks so cool in the final product.

the catch 22 of being a femslash fan is that when you try and get anyone else to care or talk about media that has a heavy slant towards female characters and relationships between them you will be met by a bunch of people who tell you to stop whining about the things you like or make being unpopular and just focus on supporting or creating these things. but then if you actually go out and do this and fully commit to that and say that you're not interested in m/m or m/f centric stuff people will act like you are smug, narrowminded, pretentious, or even just straight up bigoted.
there really is no winning because what people actually want is to never have to think about why relationships between two women or female-dominated casts are so proportionately rare in popular or culturally relevant media. they can't outright say they think its because these types of work matter less or are across the board lower in quality than the things they like, but a lot of people do clearly believe that on some level. because that version of affairs is the one that lets misogyny be something happening on the back end that they are just responding to, rather than something they are participating in by "just not really being able to get into f/f" for whatever Mysterious Reasons.
