Poor Aunt Jemima, the chicken that adopted us soon after we moved to the FL farm is not feeling so well. She’s getting the full spectrum of treatment just like any other member of our farm family and seems to be starting to perk up a little. Not egg-bound, no crop impaction but think coelomitis (like peritonitis in other species). So it is supportive care, pain meds, antibiotics etc for this girl for a while! ***RRP Eligible - 4yo, 16h, sweet, honest, talented, chestnut, TB gelding*** Soon to be eligible for adoption - located in Ocala, Florida PA Racehorse Rehoming Alfie aka Alfalfa aka Lancelot Lynk turns 4 for real in May, has run 6 times (slowly lol), has been with same connections since weaning and cross-trained in riding disciplines since the beginning. Trained off farm, not track, never ran on lasix or bled. Very keen to jump and loves to have a job. Friendly with people and other horses. Super handy and tons of rideability in just plain snaffle. Just before what was to be his last attempt to race, on a different surface, we noticed some tenderness in his SDFT (front tendon) and ultrasounded it immediately. No outward sign of a bow but he definitely does have a small core lesion just above where the SDFT splits above the ankle. He has received top-shelp regenerative therapy and will eventually be suitable for any discipline. Though, we really got the feeling he’d prefer showjumping or eventing. He is currently 100% sound at all gaits. We’re lucky to have caught this injury early. However, either way he will require minimum 3-6 months walking and small controlled turnout. We will be keeping him ourselves if the right person does not come along. Putting out feelers to see if there is any interest. This horse is extremely special and athletically talented. Already trots poles, jumps with naturally great shape and carefulness, scopey over small coop and has 3 balanced gaits to work with. Serious inquiries only.
