Drawing Portraits and Materials

I do a couple of portrait commissions each month using Palomino pencils, one black and one white, an eraser which I cut into angles for capture highlights, and a big Chinese brush used for sweeping materials off the page without smudging the drawing.

Mixed Messages, oil on Italian canvas. This was painted from a sculpture made from plastic kids letters I found in New York. The little people were found in an antique store in Indiana where my family lives. If you ever get to the Midwest they have the best antique stores on earth! #katieshrinerart
