The significant story of the “Cod” is blended with recipes that enrich the book. All to conclude with the fact that this fish could very well become extinct.

A long road pursuit of information and interviews gives students insight on the determination, but also on the troubles Steve Jobs had getting to where he got to. This biography truly covers those characteristics of Mr. Jobs’ that paved his way to success. A personality which was a force to be reckon with, is better understood after the 946 pages conclude.

This biography on the history of The Beatles doesn’t miss a thing. Starting from where they grew up through all there trials and triumphs as the most famous rock band, this biography covers undocumented moments. A lengthy 983 pages testifies to the vastness of these band mates’ lives together and apart.

Anne Frank: the biography

“Anne Frank” by Melissa Muller. Biographies. 1998.

Anne Frank’s biography followed the release of her diary which made her story the closest written testimony of the pain of the Holocaust. Her biography goes into her history long before her life in the annex, and covers her timeline through moves and growth as an adolescent up through her documented experience during the Holocaust.

“Heather has Two Mommies” by Leslea Newman. Controversial. 1989.

This book follows a littler girl and her normal life with her two mothers. Heather is raised by her biological mother and her partner. Though she has two mom’s her life is just as typical as any other child’s life. The book illustrates what this situation would be like for readers to understand in an educational way.

Where’s Waldo

“Where’s Waldo” by Martin Hanford. Controversial. 1987.

“Where’s Waldo” is a hide and seek series of books where the reader has to find Waldo on each page. The pages are completely busy with other characters and some of which are matching Waldo’s iconic red striped hat and shirt making it even more difficult to find him. In this specific edition, a beach goer was caught topless which got the booked banned for nudity. The edition was later released with the same character in a bikini top.

Smokey Night

“Smokey Night” by Eve Bunting. Controversial. 1994.

“Smokey Night” a story of unification. Neighbors with a not so neighborly past unite in hard times. After riots break out in their city, Los Angeles, and their apartment complex is caught on fire they join efforts to reach a shelter for their families safely. In the commotion, their cats had been lost but found once arrived at the shelter. The two cats are a symbol of peace and unification during hard times considering the bond they have created which is obvious to their owners upon return.

“In the Night Kitchen” by Maurice Sendak. Controversial. 1970.

“In the Night Kitchen” is a story about a little boy who drifts off into a dream one night where he is taken to a kitchen. This kitchen is called the “night kitchen.” He is quick to realize that he has shrunk considering he is being blended into a cake batter by cooks who don’t even see him at the time. He waves down the cooks before getting baked, and helps them finish baking their cake. He then drifts back to his bed through the milk bottle.

This easy to read short informational book covers the step it takes to grow a plant as well as all the essential parts of a plant’s anatomy in the growing process.

“Animal Mothers and Babies” by Dona Rice. Information Book. 2012.

Like “How Plants Grow” this book is for beginner readers and has clear illustrations. This book briefly covers the relationship between nine different kinds of animal mothers and their babies.

This book reviews new technological advancements to help spin readers up on the latest innovations. The book features twelve of the newest inventions that are main stream to our usage. Each feature has details to include the way it works and how to work with it.

You Can’t Take a Balloon....

“You Can’t Take a Balloon into the Museum of Fine Arts” by Jacqueline Weitzman. Informational Book. 2002.

This informational book is a walk (well float rather) through the Museum of Fine Arts. When a girl lets her balloon loose in the museum on mistake, the balloon floats on past all the fine art pieces. As the balloon passes certain pieces of art, the book becomes informational about each artwork.

Actual Size

“Actual Size” by Steve Jenkins. Informational Book. 2004

“Actual Size” is about animals and the real life sizes. The author strives to paint a realistic picture for students to grasp the reality of these animals’ true sizes. Some animals are very teeny tiny while others are average in size but huge for their species. Others are just downright humongous like the 13 foot Alaskan Grizzly Bear.

Shiloh

“Shiloh” by Phillis Naylor. Animal Realistic Fiction. 1991.

Shiloh is a dog whose owner is an abusive one. Marty is a young boy who lives near Shiloh’s home and finds him in his poor conditions that the owner leaves the dog to. Marty tries to keep the dog and after one return to the owner, Shiloh comes back to the boy appearing in even worst of a condition than the first time. Marty hides Shiloh from his parents, but then is discovered and has to understand that not all is fair when it comes to the law.

Freckle Juice

‘Freckle Juice” by Judy Blume. School and Family Realistic Fiction. 1971.

Andrew likes his friends freckles and wishes he had them as well so his mom won’t be able to tell how dirty his neck is at the end of each day. Sharon, a classmate, finds out about Andrew’s adoration for the freckles and offers him a recipe called “freckle juice” that will give him freckles if he drinks it. After getting the recipe and making the juice, Andrew waits a day and a half without any result of freckles. He knows Sharon tricked him, but he is going to trick her back and shows up to school with blue marker freckles all over his face to Sharon’s surprise.
