But a silent plea hidden behind a front, slowly washed away by the rain, revealing a side that he had buried deep within. Yet the girl remained smiling, holding him in her embrace as they stood under the cold rain.

Days after the memorial ceremony at the Tidefoam Beach, the Parksolians resumed their daily lives. Despite everything that happened, even if some left scars or traumas or regrets that may haunt them from time to time, they had to keep on living.
Meghill knew this very well, especially after what had transpired not too long ago, and after losing his one and only sister.
However, as the Parksolians’ clan chief, he has duties to uphold; manage his clanspeople and to prepare for a change that was bound to take place once he revealed the truth of what he learned of his clan’s history.
But for now, he simply had to continue overseeing and protecting his clanspeople as they carried out their duties.
Everything seemed to be back to normal, and it would have just stayed that way if it wasn’t because of one particular Parksolian that suddenly paid a visit to his workplace.
The pen on his hand hovered above his report as he turned his gaze towards his guest, “I’m…what?”
“Overworking yourself.”
The figure by the entrance was none other than Angert; his childhood friend, a family, and probably the only one he could trust the most with his secrets and anything that he kept to himself.
Seeing the confused look on Meghill’s face, the dark blue-haired Parksolian lets out a sigh, “If you thought I wouldn’t notice, then let’s just say that you’re just THAT bad at hiding it.”
“Is that so?” He stopped his paperwork and directed his focus towards his friend, “What makes you think I am as you claimed to be?”
“...Seriously?” With his arms crossed, Angert’s face changed from shocked to disappointed, “You’ve been working non-stop, drowning yourself with paperworks, patrols, and healing soulrifts–even when you didn’t have to.”
“You know that’s what I’ve always been doing ever since I took over as the clan chief.”
“Of course I know that. But this time, you’re doing it way more than usual, Meghill. Even when there’s nothing that requires your attention or involvement, you still went out to find if there’s some ‘work’ that needs to be done.”
“It’s part of my duty,” Meghill’s answer made Angert lightly scoff, eyes rolled in a manner that he had enough of hearing the same thing over and over again.
“And since you’ve brought this up, weren’t you supposed to be on patrol today? Did you finish early, or are you skipping out?” Meghill’s question threw the other Parksolian off.
Baffled, Angert gave him an insulted look, “Bold accusation there, chief. But hey, we can talk about that later! My concern right now is about YOU. And trust me, it’s not just me, but ALL of us are.”
And there it was. He knew it was bound to be noticed. In fact, Meghill wasn’t unaware of how obvious he deliberately occupied himself with work. And he knew that other Parksolians would have eventually noticed it as well.
The anxious looks by those around him when they saw him patrolling outside all by himself, or when he visited the healing ground to take over and heal soulrift-inflicted Parksolians despite the healers weren’t fully occupied or busy. Not even Paxienne's persuasion to leave the healing to them managed to make him stop. Back at Great Lumieville, even the young children he comes across would directly ask if he hasn't been resting well, claiming that he looked restless and never seemed to stop walking around for hundreds of times in the same area.
Yet, he simply told them it was his duty to take care of his people, ensuring their safety and wellbeing while pushing away those worried gazes they had on him. Just as he had always been.
A firm touch landed on his shoulder, prompting him to stop his train of thoughts. Meghill turned to see Angert looking at him with a concerned look, one that he rarely wore unless it truly mattered to him.
“Look, as your friend, and your ONE and ONLY close friend,” Angert’s grip on his shoulder tightened, “I’m only asking you for this one thing. Please, take a break. Even just for one day.”
Meghill remained silent. The idea itself sounds tempting, but it never once crossed his mind.
“Thank you for the concern. …I’ll think about it,” the pause in between didn’t go unnoticed despite how calm Meghill responded. But Angert chose not to question further and just let out a sigh, making his way out of the room.
“Alright then, I trust you know what to do now, chief,” the blue-haired Parksolian said without looking back. Until he suddenly stopped on his tracks.
“Anyway, catch.” Angert threw something over to him, and Meghill caught it with ease. Looking at the item in his hand, his eyes widened slightly. A Soul Ocarina. And not just any ordinary one.
It was the one that he gave to Nikki.
“This is Nikki’s…” He stood up, “What happened to her–”
“Now hold up. Before you get all worked up and start giving orders to search the whole Boneyard for her whereabouts, she’s fine. She’s at the Cultivarium with the children–” Angert shrugged his shoulders, “–safe and sound.”
Meghill went completely silent as he soaked the information in. Staring at the ocarina in his hand, he began to ponder. How did it end up in Angert’s possession?
Did Nikki lose it? The young woman didn’t come off as clumsy or forgetful from what he had seen of her.
Was it broken? Didn’t look like it.
“They why do you have–”
“–I think she got so invested playing with the children that she forgot to put it away after teaching them Ferry Song.” Angert cuts in, almost unapologetically so.
A small frown began to etch onto Meghill’s face and his eyes had those doubtful gaze within them when he turned to look at the dark, blue-haired Parksolian. Seeing that change of expression on the clan chief’s face, Angert swiftly made his way out.
“Anyhow, I’ll leave that ocarina in your hands. It’s better if it was you who brought it back to her instead of me~” The teasing tone did not escape Meghill’s hearing. At that point, it was obvious something was up.
“It’s ironic how you’re asking your own chief to work after all that talk about taking a break, Angert.”
“What’s that? I didn’t quite catch it! Got to run and focus back on my patrol!”
Watching Angert’s retreating figure until he was out of sight, Meghill shook his head in disapproval.
Speaking of patrol, the clan chief thought that this was a great opportunity to do the same. And it happened to align with his plan as he did have some business at the Cultivarium today. Along with Nikki’s Soul Ocarina in his possession, he decided that it was the perfect time to set out.
But before that, he should prioritize bringing the lost ocarina back to the owner first.

For once, the ever composed Meghill; the most calm and collected clan chief of the Parksolians, was so close to letting out one of the most disappointed and heavy sighs he would ever muster. But fortunately, he still had his restraints, especially because it was not supposed to be directed to the ones standing in front of him.
“So what you’re saying is...it just disappeared from where you left them?”
“Yeah, and the weird thing is, only Nikki’s Soul Ocarina went missing. The other kids also left their own ocarina back at the Cultivarium but they were still there where we left them, completely untouched! It’s so weird.” Momo’s concerned tone was not left unheard.
Meghill couldn’t blame him for that. Who wouldn’t? The fact that it happened at the Cultivarium, which was constantly surrounded by many Parksolians, it was safe to say that it left them anxious.
“It’s okay, Momo. At least Meghill found it and brought it back to us,” Nikki smiled down to her little partner, showing the previously missing Soul Ocarina safe and secured in her hands.
“Hmm. Yeah, I guess so…” the little white cat slumped his shoulder in relief, until he suddenly straightened himself back up with a scowl on his face, “But who would actually just steal your ocarina in the first place!?”
“I’m…not so sure about that myself too, Momo.” It was evident that Nikki wasn’t comfortable in pointing fingers on who the culprit could be. Not to mention, there were many scholars and young Parksolians around. Surely none of them would have the heart to commit such acts, nor even if it was done as a harmless prank.
“Speaking of which,” Nikki turned to face the clan chief, “How did it end up on you, Meghill?”
The white-haired Parksolian pondered on how to respond. In all honesty, Meghill had already suspected that Angert might have played a role in this. He was daring enough to make excuses and flee from the responsibility, just so that he didn’t have to be the one to send it back to the young woman. What’s even more audacious was that he forced his own chief to go out on his behalf.
Though the intention behind the action remains a mystery, the clan chief decided that it was best to not even mention his friend’s involvement in this.
“Someone brought it to me, saying that the ocarina looked similar to the ones I’ve had as a spare before I gave it to you.” Meghill answered so confidently that Nikki couldn’t even find herself to doubt him.
“I see. I guess that does make sense,” she nodded her head, completely persuaded with little to no hesitation.
“So, that’s it? It was all just a…misunderstanding?” Momo pondered out loud, rubbing the back of his head as if contemplating if it was really just because of some simple ’misunderstanding’, if they could even call it that in the first place.
“I was just as surprised when they stopped by to give me her Soul Ocarina. But I assure you, that if there’s even a slight act of malice or ill intent towards Nikki or you, they will have to answer to me,” Meghill said with a stern tone, “And if you want, I can look into this matter myself if it means to reassure that you are safe as long as I’m around.”
“No, no, there’s no need for that, Meghill,” Nikki quickly dismissed the idea, “I’m sure it’s as you’ve said, someone might have thought the ocarina is really yours and never knew you had given it to me. And…”
He noticed the sudden pause, “What’s wrong?”
Nikki seemed hesitant and had that worried gaze on her face whenever she looked at him. In fact, she had been doing it ever since he arrived.
“Nikki,” Meghill approached the young woman, his tone soft and gentle, “If there’s anything bothering you, you can tell me. I will do my best to help you.”
Nikki remained silent as she stared at the white-haired Parksolian. Their eyes locked for a while, and at that moment, it felt as if she was searching for something within his gaze. Not long after, her lips broke into a small smile as she shook her head in response to his offer.
“It’s okay, Meghill. It’s just that I…” The words were dragged as Nikki twiddled with her thumbs and her eyes cast down onto the ground before facing him once more, “...I was just thinking back to what Angert had said earlier when he stopped by, and I guess he was right.”
He blinked, confused by this individual suddenly coming into the picture, “You met Angert?”
The young woman nodded her head, “He said he was patrolling nearby and saw us. We talked for a while until he brought up the topic about you. Things like overworking yourself, and never taking a break.”
Momo also added in, “He said everyone was worried that you were pushing yourself too much and wished you would just take care of yourself first before taking in other’s concern and problems into your hands.”
Meghill could feel a headache formed in his head. He should have known that this was something Angert would pull off if he was serious about it. But involving Nikki and Momo into this was too much. And just for once, he let out a soft, low sigh.
“I apologize if Angert had said something that caused you to be concerned for my wellbeing. But I assure you, I’m fine. This is all just part of my duty, especially after everything that happened recently,” he said. Though he said it with calm composure, it was not enough to dismiss the unease on the duo's face, especially from Nikki.
“Please, cast your worries aside. Like I’ve said, Parksolian are known for their persistence. No amount of work could ever bring me down,” he reassured her but it wasn’t enough to fully convince the pink-haired young woman.
“But you’ve done so much already. I’m worried if you keep this up, you’ll end up carrying more than you should, and eventually, it’ll come back to hurt you, Meghill.”
“Nothing I haven’t handled before,” he responded, firm and unwavering. And that was all it took for Nikki to understand that there was nothing else that could change his mind.
“If you’ll excuse me, Nikki, Momo. I have matters to discuss with the scholars here. Plus, I wouldn’t want to hold you off longer than needed, lest you have other plans to do.”
The duo looked at each other and nodded their heads. As they bid each other goodbye, Meghill saw the hesitant look in Nikki’s eyes before they parted ways. Somehow, deep down, he felt bad for making her worried. This wasn’t something he wanted her to be concerned about. And he hoped it stayed that way.
Not long after he had finished his business at the Cultivarium, he proceeded with his patrol along the Blue Pools, and even visited the Soul Observatory for a follow-up status on their research as well as doing his part of studying the symptoms of Soulrift. One would look and be in awe of his diligence, but seeing him coming over almost everyday and drowning himself in his work, it almost felt pitiful.
But to Meghill, it was simply his duty as the clan chief.
The sky was dark by the time he left the Soul Observatory. Grey clouds hovered above, taunting with its presence that soon enough, it will release its rain down on them. Fortunately, Meghill had done his job around these parts.
And all that’s left was to head back to Great Lumieville.
Just as he was on his way back, Meghill received a notification on his Pear-Pal. Much to his surprise, Nikki had sent a few messages to him.
‘Sorry to bother you, Meghill.’
‘I suddenly remembered something and I thought I needed to tell you about it.’
‘I was wondering, if you’re free right now…’
Meghill stopped in his tracks, and waited for the last message to appear.

MYDEI
「 ✦ Pre-game ✦ 」
Surprisingly, asking Mydei out to the Arcade is very easy. After all, the blond man is no stranger to the facility as he often visits it for the same specific reason as Tingyun though he won't actually admitted it out loud.
He claims that some of the kids at the orphanage told him about the plushies they wanted at the arcade. And that, he insists, is why he often visits the place. Clearly, he doesn't tag along with Tingyun because he wants to spend time with her (which is a bold lie).
Despite the claim, Mydei often lets the foxian play first if she wanted to, depending on her moods. He simply follows along with whatever she plans.
-> If Tingyun wanted to go first:
"Let's see if that luck of yours bears any fruit today." Mydei wouldn't be Mydei without his usual remarks. And though he seems indifferent about it, he does hope for the foxian to win as many as she can—or at least have fun with it.
-> If Tingyun lets Mydei go first:
A judging stare would be thrown her way. It's either the foxian was genuinely letting him play, or she had some tricks up her sleeve, like making him get the plushies she wanted for free. "Is this one of your way to make me do all the work? *sigh* You know what, don't answer that."
-> If Mydei offered to go first:
Just like Jing Yuan and Sunday, this moment will only occur when a limited plushie is involve. While it may be true that Mydei wouldn't get himself caught playing this for his own benefits, he IS genuine when it comes to getting them for the children at the orphanage. And if he's lucky, he would try to bag one extra for his foxian partner. "What? I might as well get another one for you or else I'll have to deal your sulking state for the rest of the day."
「 ✦ When he watches her play the game ✦ 」
Get ready to get roasted because Mydei will not hold back. And somehow, whenever Tingyun goes out with him to play the Claw Machine, her luck somehow seems smaller compared to his.
And that's why, Tingyun often failed more with Mydei than she used to when she went out alone or with her other friends.
Most of the time, Mydei would be the one bagging the most plushies between them.
When Tingyun asked Mydei to take over:
-> He refuse = This man would poke fun at her instantly. "What's wrong? What happened to all that boasting of 'blessed by great luck' and all?” Tingyun begrudgingly continued.
-> He accepts = Mydei's not type to revel in snatching other's win just because he knows how to tackle the game. But when Tingyun looks clearly upset of her many unsuccessful attempts, the man had no choice but to accept her offer clearly not because he couldn't handle seeing her sad. "Now you want me to fix all those sorry attempts of yours? ...Move."
「 ✦ When Mydei plays the game ✦ 」
There's no doubt Mydei was an expert in this game. The man plays like he knows it like the back of his hand. And nothing could stop him from getting those plushies once he targets them.
Plushies would be swiped left and right, and somehow, as much as Tingyun was happy with the results, seeing the small smug smile on Mydei's lips kind of annoyed her. Worst case, Mydei would casually throw jabs at how poorly she played as he nabs another with ease.
Well, it just can't be helped that he was just THAT good!
...unless she decided to bother him just for 'fun'. The smiling Tingyun would lean closer to his arm and coax the giant man on getting more. Wouldn't want to leave this place without at least getting some plushies.
Mydei would be surprised, sure, but right after that, he would give her a judging stare.
"You make it sound like I'm going to fail this."
Either way, it could result him two ways:
-> If he succeeded, Mydei would have this slight smug look on his face when he pass the plushie to his foxian partner, but once Tingyun was about to take it, he would held it out of reach. “What did I say? Whatever I won, it's mine to decide.”
-> If he failed, well, let's just say it was all due to Tingyun's jealousy. “I almost HAD it, foxian. If you didn't suddenly just lean in and latched to my arm.”
「 ✦ After the game ✦ 」
-> If they didn’t get any:
This would be a very rare occassion because Mydei is practically an expert and would probably get at least one plushie, unless it was simply just one of those days where their lucks are just not on their side, OR, Tingyun hogs the whole round and attempts of playing and ends up getting nothing. Then this is exactly one of those moments.
“Just because we didn't win any today doesn't mean we'll fail another time. Chin up. I'm still waiting for that day you boldly declared you'd sweep clean these claw machine games.”
-> If they get some:
Contrary to the previous one, this is what most of their time ended up in. Just mountains of plushies in their possession and a smiling Tingyun hugging her new toys to bring back home. Mydei had to make sure the foxian didn't run off with all of the plushies including the ones he wanted to give to the orphans.
“All these plushies and yet, you still want more. Greedy little vixen."

SUNDAY
「 ✦ Pre-game ✦ 」
As someone who tends to observe in silence, Sunday would mostly offered the chance to play to Tingyun instantly.
But the truth is, Sunday hasn't really been to the Arcade, let alone play any of the games ever since he had to take over as the Head of the Oak Family when he was young.
So, as to not make himself looked like a fool, he would discreetly allow the foxian to play the first round every time as a cover and excuse to learn the mechanics and tips from watching how Tingyun plays.
-> If Tingyun wanted to go first:
"Be my guest. I assumed you must have been well-prepared for it too." Sunday wouldn't mind as much. In fact, he encourages Tingyun to play the first round and would probably offered her to go first before she could even said it herself. Again, it would actually help him gain the upper hand by watching how the foxian play. So a little refresher and tips would be nice.
-> If Tingyun lets Sunday go first:
If he had a choice, Sunday would refuse. Besides, he hasn't play this game since he was young, so his skill leaves much to imagine. And it's obvious the result would end up bad. Not to mention the foxian did say that getting the plushies were her real goal for going to the arcade. ...But what would that paint him then? The Head of the Oak Family backing out because he wouldn't be able to win the plushies? No, no, no. That wouldn't do. Despite his image and status, he wouldn't back out from a challenge. Plus, he didn't want to disappoint the foxian. So he got his hand a bit tied up between the two consequences, having no choice but to agree. "Fine...but don't get your hopes up too high."
-> If Sunday offered to go first:
This situation will be one of those rare occasion when a certain limited plushie was released. And to Tingyun's surprise, Sunday was adamant in getting one no matter how many times it would take, completely taking over the rounds without so much passing it over to her.
Sunday wouldn't admit it out loud but the reason why he wanted to do it is because first, he wanted to impress the foxian. And second, he wanted it to be a special moment for Tingyun to appreciate and watch his hard work in getting that limited plushie for her.
But of course, he would deny doing it FOR her but still gave it to the foxian nevertheless. "I've heard from Robin that this was currently a hot item amongst children and young women. So I just wanted to see what's all the hype about this one. ...You can have it, if you want to."
「 ✦ When he watches her play the game ✦ 」
If there's anyone good at making people think twice before doing anything, it's Sunday. "Are you sure that's the right position to grab the plushie? Move a little to the left." or "Not sure if that claw could grab it. How about moving slightly to the front?" or "Please tell me you're not going for THAT one?"
Now, see, Sunday was genuinely trying to help. His observation skills is nothing short of impressive.
But what he didn't knew was that the frequent questions and suggestions the he threw to her would caused the foxian to lose her focus, delayed her choice, and eventually made the claw grab nothing but air because the countdown had reached its end.
“Why didn't you move the claw to that one behind the center? It was in a perfect position to grab on.”
Tingyun's not a bad player in the Claw Machine game. She has decent skills compared to Sunday; managed to bag a few despite several failed attempts.
But with Sunday ruining her winning streak by interrupting, Tingyun was not going to let him off without payback.
So when Tingyun asked Sunday to take over:
-> He refuse = His instincts tells him that he was going to regret this. Knowing the sly but charming smile on Tingyun's face, Sunday flat out refuse, coming out with various reasons that he could come up at the time. “We've barely have coins left and you want ME to try and get some of these plushies? Besides, you almost had it. You just need to listen to my instructions.”
-> He accepts = "Fine..since you're so bad at this." At this point, the Halovian kind of accepted his fate and took over. He knew there was something the foxian was plotting and Sunday could not help but wonder what kind of tricks she had up her sleeves.
「 ✦ When Sunday plays the game ✦ 」
Though he was rusty here and there, Sunday tried his best! All the watching and learning from how Tingyun played the game paid off!...kind of.
And he should have known better than to trust his guts that he won't have an easy time playing the game with Tingyun watching at the side, all grinning and smiling.
I mean, who would have thought that having someone watching you play would be this nerve-wrecking? Even the meetings with the other Family Heads weren't as intense as this! In some ways, his respect to the foxian grew. Just slightly.
It's just a game, Sunday begrudgingly thought as he navigate the claw around. Until the foxian teasingly leaned closer and poke fun at him, resulting him to jerk and accidentally pressed the other button that makes the claw descend, and ended up barely grabbing any of the plushies.
The Halovian turned to give the foxian a warning stare, but Tingyun simply acted innocently, smiling and apologizing at the same time.
But Sunday should have known better because Tingyun wasn't going to let him off that easy. All the teasing and close distance instantly made his whole body tensed.
Either way, it could result him two ways:
-> If he succeeded, a relived expression would spread across his face, and his body instantly relaxed when the claw successfully grabbed the plushie he aimed for and dropped off to exit. This did not go unnoticed by Tingyun. “What? Anyone would be happy if they successfully did something.”
-> If he failed, Sunday lowkey would panicked. “I-It's just a minor setback! Not because you suddenly just leaned so close to me...”
「 ✦ After the game ✦ 」
-> If they didn’t get any:
It was to be expected, even with all the observing and learning from the sideline. He wasn't completely rusty, just inexperience. It was unfortunate but still memorable enough to Sunday.
“I did told you not to put too much high hopes. But, it was a fun experience to say the least. ...What's so fun about not getting any plushies, you ask? *light chuckle* Well, I get to see you frustrated if that counts.”
-> If they get some:
Well, looks like luck hasn't really abandoned him. And it looks like he still got some of those skills too. But nevertheless, Tingyun got what she wanted and Sunday simply allowed the foxian to hoard all the plushies they won back to her home all while saying that she looked forward to their next 'date' to get the other unobtained plushies, leaving the Halovian wondering why the foxian was so fixated in gathering all those plushies. ...But at least, he gets to see her happy.
“All these plushies and you still want MORE? *sigh*...You're as unpredictable as always, my lady.”

JINGYUAN

When it comes to playing the Claw Machine, Jingyuan often lets Tingyun have the first round.
Not because he doesn’t want to but rather, he knew how excited the foxian wanted to try her luck, hence why they were at the Arcade in the first place.
-> If Tingyun wanted to go first:
She would boast how she just had a fortune reading saying she has great luck on that day (which he knew was just an excuse she would put out so she could be the first one to play).

There were also times when Tingyun would let him play the first round since she knew that Jingyuan, despite his age, loves entertainment and games in the Arcade.
“Very well. If you insist.” Jingyuan would relent when the foxian insisted on letting him play first, trying his best to get as many plushies as he could. And he kind of does, which surprised the young foxian woman at how easy he nabbed every single plushies in the machine.
-> If Jingyuan offered to go first:
Though rare, there were also times when Jingyuan would offer himself to play the first round. Those kinds of times would be when there was a limited edition plushie released for a certain period of time, and if the said plushie is somewhat related to his personality, image or something he's interested in.
「 ✦ When he watches her play the game ✦ 」
Jingyuan tends to be a tease when spending time with Tingyun, and watching her play the Claw Machine was no exception.
After all that boasting about her great luck, if she ended up failing to get what she wanted, there's a chance she could hear him chuckle and laugh at the side.
"Glaring at the plushie won't make it come to you, you know?"
Occasionally, Jingyuan would also provide hints and tricks of the claw's placement.
After all, he was a frequent visitor to the Arcade when he was young. He basically knew all tricks of playing the Claw Machine there is to know.
Of course, that doesn't mean he is a complete master of it too. So the probability of failing was also in par to the probability of success.
Should Tingyun got fed up and asked Jingyuan to take over:
-> He refuse = Jingyuan would mostly refuse when the plushie Tingyun wanted was already in a position that was waiting to be snatch. Why ruin the fun by getting it for her when SHE could get it herself? "Now, now. You've almost had it. Why not give it one more try?"
-> He accepts = The only time he relented would be when Tingyun gave him a defeated look that is equal to that look of puppy eyes. Regardless of how she reacted, Jingyuan couldn't simply ignore the (adorable) sulking foxian. "Since you asked so nicely, I guess it can't be help then."
「 ✦ When Jingyuan plays the game ✦ 」
As someone who had been to the Arcade when he was young, it is safe to say Jingyuan had quite the experience and understanding of how the game works.
But on how to grab those plushies depends purely on luck, and their positions in the box.
That's why Jingyuan mostly took his sweet, sweet time moving the claw and repositioning them back and forth, aiming to grab them in one go.
It kind of made Tingyun anxious how he was delaying to descend the claw and the foxian unconsciously clung to his arm and nudge him to hurry and make decision.
"Patience, Tingyun. The plushie isn't going to run away, trust me."
Though he looks calm on the outside, the truth is, he was slightly taken aback by the sudden closeness and it kind of swayed his focus.
Either way, it could result him two ways:
-> If he succeeded, a relived expression would spread across his face when the claw successfully grabbed the plushie she wanted and dropped off to exit. "What did I say? Patience is virtue."
-> If he failed, Jingyuan remained calm. Though he was slightly dissatisfied, he doesn't really show much reaction other than shrugging his shoulder with a wry smile. "Hmm, that's unfortunate. No matter, I still have a few more tricks up my sleeve."
「 ✦ After the game ✦ 」
-> If they didn't get any:
It was an unfortunate outcome but Jingyuan remains optimistic of the results. After all, one of the main reason why he even went to the Arcade with Tingyun is to spend quality time with her. Win some or none, he had achieved his personal goal for this outing.
"There's no need to be sad. There's always next time. ...When would that next time be? *chuckle* Well, should that day be your EXTRA lucky day, do invite me again and we'll see if we could do better than today."
-> If they get some:
Being an expert player of the Claw Machine, it's nothing new to him if they ended up bringing back more than they expected. And because of that, Tingyun now has tons of plushies occupying her bed back at home, which then led the foxian declaring that he should be equally responsible in taking care of 'their' plushies by keeping some of them at his place as well; not that he mind as it signified her putting trust on him.
"Should you suddenly miss them and wanted to bring them back to your place, you know where to find me. *wink*"

As someone who tends to observe in silence, Sunday would mostly offered the chance to play to Tingyun instantly.
But the truth is, Sunday hasn't really been to the Arcade, let alone play any of the games ever since he had to take over as the Head of the Oak Family when he was young.
So, as to not make himself looked like a fool, he would discreetly allow the foxian to play the first round every time as a cover and excuse to learn the mechanics and tips from watching how Tingyun plays.
-> If Tingyun wanted to go first:
"Be my guest. I assumed you must have been well-prepared for it too." Sunday wouldn't mind as much. In fact, he encourages Tingyun to play the first round and would probably offered her to go first before she could even said it herself. Again, it would actually help him gain the upper hand by watching how the foxian play. So a little refresher and tips would be nice.
-> If Tingyun lets Sunday go first:
If he had a choice, Sunday would refuse. Besides, he hasn't play this game since he was young, so his skill leaves much to imagine. And it's obvious the result would end up bad. Not to mention the foxian did say that getting the plushies were her real goal for going to the arcade. ...But what would that paint him then? The Head of the Oak Family backing out because he wouldn't be able to win the plushies? No, no, no. That wouldn't do. Despite his image and status, he wouldn't back out from a challenge. Plus, he didn't want to disappoint the foxian. So he got his hand a bit tied up between the two consequences, having no choice but to agree. "Fine...but don't get your hopes up too high."
-> If Sunday offered to go first:
This situation will be one of those rare occasion when a certain limited plushie was released. And to Tingyun's surprise, Sunday was adamant in getting one no matter how many times it would take, completely taking over the rounds without so much passing it over to her.
Sunday wouldn't admit it out loud but the reason why he wanted to do it is because first, he wanted to impress the foxian. And second, he wanted it to be a special moment for Tingyun to appreciate and watch his hard work in getting that limited plushie for her.
But of course, he would deny doing it FOR her but still gave it to the foxian nevertheless. "I've heard from Robin that this was currently a hot item amongst children and young women. So I just wanted to see what's all the hype about this one. ...You can have it, if you want to."

If there's anyone good at making people think twice before doing anything, it's Sunday. "Are you sure that's the right position to grab the plushie? Move a little to the left." or "Not sure if that claw could grab it. How about moving slightly to the front?" or "Please tell me you're not going for THAT one?"
Now, see, Sunday was genuinely trying to help. His observation skills is nothing short of impressive.
But what he didn't knew was that the frequent questions and suggestions the he threw to her would caused the foxian to lose her focus, delayed her choice, and eventually made the claw grab nothing but air because the countdown had reached its end.
“Why didn't you move the claw to that one behind the center? It was in a perfect position to grab on.”
Tingyun's not a bad player in the Claw Machine game. She has decent skills compared to Sunday; managed to bag a few despite several failed attempts.
But with Sunday ruining her winning streak by interrupting, Tingyun was not going to let him off without payback.
So when Tingyun asked Sunday to take over:
-> He refuse = His instincts tells him that he was going to regret this. Knowing the sly but charming smile on Tingyun's face, Sunday flat out refuse, coming out with various reasons that he could come up at the time. “We've barely have coins left and you want ME to try and get some of these plushies? Besides, you almost had it. You just need to listen to my instructions.”
-> He accepts = "Fine..since you're so bad at this." At this point, the Halovian kind of accepted his fate and took over. He knew there was something the foxian was plotting and Sunday could not help but wonder what kind of tricks she had up her sleeves.
「 ✦ When Sunday plays the game ✦ 」
Though he was rusty here and there, Sunday tried his best! All the watching and learning from how Tingyun played the game paid off!...kind of.
And he should have known better than to trust his guts that he won't have an easy time playing the game with Tingyun watching at the side, all grinning and smiling.
I mean, who would have thought that having someone watching you play would be this nerve-wrecking? Even the meetings with the other Family Heads weren't as intense as this! In some ways, his respect to the foxian grew. Just slightly.
It's just a game, Sunday begrudgingly thought as he navigate the claw around. Until the foxian teasingly leaned closer and poke fun at him, resulting him to jerk and accidentally pressed the other button that makes the claw descend, and ended up barely grabbing any of the plushies.
The Halovian turned to give the foxian a warning stare, but Tingyun simply acted innocently, smiling and apologizing at the same time.
But Sunday should have known better because Tingyun wasn't going to let him off that easy. All the teasing and close distance instantly made his whole body tensed.
Either way, it could result him two ways:
-> If he succeeded, a relived expression would spread across his face, and his body instantly relaxed when the claw successfully grabbed the plushie he aimed for and dropped off to exit. This did not go unnoticed by Tingyun. “What? Anyone would be happy if they successfully did something.”
-> If he failed, Sunday lowkey would panicked. “I-It's just a minor setback! Not because you suddenly just leaned so close to me...”
「 ✦ After the game ✦ 」
-> If they didn’t get any:
It was to be expected, even with all the observing and learning from the sideline. He wasn't completely rusty, just inexperience. It was unfortunate but still memorable enough to Sunday.
“I did told you not to put too much high hopes. But, it was a fun experience to say the least. ...What's so fun about not getting any plushies, you ask? *light chuckle* Well, I get to see you frustrated if that counts.”
-> If they get some:
Well, looks like luck hasn't really abandoned him. And it looks like he still got some of those skills too. But nevertheless, Tingyun got what she wanted and Sunday simply allowed the foxian to hoard all the plushies they won back to her home all while saying that she looked forward to their next 'date' to get the other unobtained plushies, leaving the Halovian wondering why the foxian was so fixated in gathering all those plushies. ...But at least, he gets to see her happy.
“All these plushies and you still want MORE? *sigh*...You're as unpredictable as always, my lady.”
I'm gonna go ahead and repeat: it is super, duper, extra scooper fucked up when you treat a character as if it were a living person while treating other human beings who are interacting with you like they are merely characters who can be written out of your personal story if you just find a remark mean enough.
