Reflection Week 5

This week, I decided to find more images and post that can relate to the three documents I will create.

The first image I have is of a new game called No Man’s Sky. This game has been rated in 2015 as the Most Highly Anticipated Game of 2016. The graphics and endless universe that will be implemented in it has never been done before. This is a perfect “extra” infographic comparison to use; exclusive. This game is only going to be available for the PS4 and Microsoft Windows, no XBox.

The second image is a comparison between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. This is sort of like the format I will do with my comparison with the three main consoles. There will be pros and cons and as little bias as possible.

Next, we see an HDD for the PS4. This can fall under the instructive type of text because we can see how an HDD is installed into a PS4. This can also allow for users to purchase a bigger HDD storage and manually upgrade it themsevles if they know how to.

Last, we see an image of remote play, which is a function that the PS4 allows. This will go under informative because it is definitely one of the more underrated functions that the PS4 can be used for. It’s something I have spent a good amount of time doing because I usually leave the room my PS4 is in.

Reflection Week 4

This week, I found three photos that can potentially relate to my final assignment for this class, which would be creating the three documents. Each of these pictures represent a way I can talk about either the informative, instructive, or infographic document I will create.

The first of these pictures shows the back port of a PlayStation 4. This will be used to show a basic beginners instruction on how each of these ports work and what you need to know in order to get your PS4 up and running. 

The second of these pictures shows a comparison between an iPhone and a Galaxy. These two phones are probably the most common ones that people have now and have been butting heads since their initial releases. This is what I plan to be doing for an info graph. I will compare the PS4, XBox One, and Wii U in a manner similar to this.

This last of these images is for informative. This is a picture of a PS4 headset. Most people buy this headset to game and have all the sounds run straight into the head instead of letting it blast from a tv. However, most people don’t take advantage of the voice control system, which is one of the widgets I plan to explain and show why it is underrated at this point.

Dynamics of Design Week 3

This week, I decided to choose one of the main posters for Wrestlemania 32, a wrestling event that is going to take place in the very near future and is considered the biggest wrestling event of the year for the World Wrestling Entertainment.

The audience for this is definitely just any wrestling fan. As WWE has no major competition in its industry right now, it probably appeals to the general population as well since it is hard to have never heard of the WWE before (whether it is a good or bad thing). The audience is supposed to look at this poster and see the different superstars that will be at AT&T stadium on April 3rd. I’m definitely able to read this as an advertisement for this upcoming event in Dallas. The main takeaways from here are the big name superstars on the poster with the poster boy himself John Cena in the center, and who has not heard of John Cena. The star logo shows that it will be in the stadium where the NFL Dallas Cowboys play. It is supposed to break the record for most attendance ever in that stadium.

Layout and Design

The way we see this poster is obviously the name front and center (Wrestlemania) along with the top superstars in the background above it. It is meant to attract the viewers to see who will be performing at this event and any general wrestling fan should know at least 5 of those 7 individuals that are placed on this poster. The date and location is on the bottom and viewed as less important not because it has less significant but because WWE would assume with all it’s advertising that people know where this event will be and possibly search up more information. The eye catching attention go-getter is supposed to be the stars on top.

Interactivity

The way this poster is interactive is because you can’t just look at it and be like okay done. You need to do some research and look up the event to find out more information, mainly the events that will happen that entire weekend and not just Sunday. Sunday is obviously the main attraction, but there is so much more that happens during Wrestlemania weekend.

As a whole the image does its job. It relays the information needed for fans to look up the event. Otherwise, there is no real other purpose for it. As a standalone poster, it kind of is hard to convince someone right on the spot to go to an event, but to perk up their interest and see if the audience themselves would like to go to the event down the road.

Reflection Week 3

This week, we read and learned about accessibility. We saw ways that certain people with different disabilities have options and ways to help accommodate for those disadvantages. It’s nice to learn about how different people cope with certain situations even though most of us don’t have the same symptoms. It broadens our views and really allows us to appreciate what most people would consider “normal.” As for this reason, I decided to look for images about situations or things that relate to either accessibility or usability.

My first post shows a paraplegic man who has a segway helping him to move around. This is a basic accommodation although not common for people who can’t move their lower half as the first thing that usually comes to people’s mind is a wheelchair.

My second post shows a keyboard where the enter button has been replaced with an “accessibility” button. On a keyboard the “enter” button is what usually tells the technology system we are using to proceed forward with a command. This symbolization shows accessibility can be anything and used as a point of entry. There are many different ways to “access” things even though certain individuals have to use a different “default” way.

The third post is poster cover of Daredevil, a Marvel superhero who has lost the sense of sight, but because of his blindness has his other senses heightened to a different level. This again shows that even if you lose one of your most important senses, it is never 100% a bad thing.

The last post I made is more about accessibility. It is the upcoming Playstation VR. To be able to soon access a game where virtual reality is a 360 view is amazing. As an IMT major, I have long wanted to create something similar to this but also with a pain simulator. This is definitely something that really intrigues me.

Dynamics of Design Week 2

This movie won’t official come out yet until May 6, but it is one that I am guaranteed to love and watch mainly because it is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and MCU is currently the highest grossing franchise of all time. Even though it’s not out yet, it is not hard judging by the title and the previous movies what this one will be about and how it looks like it should play out. This movie is going to feature Ironman vs. Captain America and see who actually is the true leader of the Avengers. A prediction would probably have these two avengers coming together in the end, but for now, it has fans hyped up about the carnage that could occur if you split up the Avengers team. 

Here I decided to the concept of light and dark. It’s pretty simple to see how I decided to change this. Everything behind Captain America’s shield is colored while everything else including Ironman is black and white. Even though I am a bigger fan of Ironman, the title clear states Captain America: Civil War. Therefore, one can presume that Captain America is considered the good guy in this movie and therefore I decided to change to reflect what I think the director wants the movie to look like in terms of good and evil.
