A frontal view of the SRX4. My one is sporting the rather swish front shock mount protector from Rudebits. I know I print my own now and again, but the Rudebits ones admittedly look very nice! The car itself doesn’t look bad for a modern 4wd either. YouTube : Kengor Racing

So this is what is underneath the Manta Ray shell. A FRP chassis and top deck with Trackstar ESC and brushless motor. I have a Nimh sized and shaped lipo in the car which is a perfect fit. I will talk about this at a later stage. Nothing too fancy in this car apart from some universal joints and alloy shock mounts.

I’ve installed a relatively modest 13.5T sensored brushless setup in the manta ray. The lack of gearing options and a slipper clutch has made me a bit wary as I’ve experienced the infamous gearbox click of death many a times before on the touring car TA01 chassis.

I’ve dug out the Tamiya Manta Ray for some measuring up as I needed some dimensions for my 3D printed chassis. The quirky Japanese anime style shell isn’t to everyone’s tastes but I quite like its cutesy looks. Sitting originally on a plastic DF-01 chassis, this one is now on a FRP chassis and top deck. Will have a look at the electrics whilst I have the car out.
