what she means: percy jackson is just as good as harry potter and the fact that it’s largely forgotten by people over the age of like fourteen is a testament to how treating so called “kids” stories as just as valuable as “adult” stories and creating films with talented and passionate directors and creative teams can shape the public perception of these stories for over a decade. had the percy jackson books been given the same treatment as the harry potter books in film, and were constantly shown in marathon on television they would likely be just as popular and ingrained in our culture about as harry potter these days. yet so many people will ignore percy jackson while full grown adults will collect thousands of dollars worth of harry potter memorabilia and base their whole personality around a 20 year old book series.
