Toby: Neuter, Genderless Person

For any non-binary (neutrois, genderless, gender-neutral or agender) people seeking some media representation or (recent) historical continuity, I came across this 5 part interview that was very worthwhile!

It’s from the 1980s and Sally Jessy Raphael interviews Toby, who identifies as neuter or genderless. They’re also asexual! The interviewer is surprisingly well-intentioned about it given the decade (though still offensive, but what can you do), and Toby receives some very positive/approving feedback from audience members.

Although they do also have a man on the show who is extremely disrespectful towards Toby and very homo/transphobic, and a psychiatrist who is pretty inappropriate. But other than them, this was quite enlightening to watch, and it was much better than I expected given the time period.

not to be a hedonist but. pleasure IS the whole point, my loves. we are made for pleasure. humans have not survived out of spite or sheer grit or simply to make more humans. we live for pleasure. the pleasure of licking the last delicious crumbs off your fingers and feeling sunlight on your skin and massaging a loved one's shoulders. we're made to fill our bellies with delicious food, to nap in soft grass, to touch each other in joy and comfort.

there is no shame or guilt in our bodies doing what they were made to do. and we are made for pleasure.

Yesterday the 12th of May was Fibromyalgia awareness day. I'm a little late uploading it, but spreading awareness is being done nonetheless. Lots of love for my chronic pain people!! <3

I got diagnosed this year as well, after more and more pain I wasn’t able to take it anymore and pushed for my own advocacy! Even medical professionals will dismiss your body pains but if they are persistent it is important for people to at least get screened for fibro. I still am fighting for assessments and referrals but everything is a step in the right direction for healing.
