Emi was a little surprised at Kiara’s quick and curious response, but she didn’t mind answering it. “Lots of places. The gym, library…” Parties. Emi didn’t say that out loud. “That’s good. Is it your dance studio?”
"You always have been a health nut and book worm," Kiara smiled. "Must be something you got from your parents." Her smile widened a little at Emi’s question. "Yeah. Is it really that obvious?"
"I know how that is," the youngest Reid shrugged. "Sucks when you lose your place of refuge, doesn’t it?"
Emiliana mocked the blonde’s shrug. “It is. But, I just find new places.” Emi looked up at Kiara. “Have you found your new place yet?”
"Which would be?" She hoped Emi didn’t think she was prying, she was really just curious. "Well, I never really lost one of mine. Never really had to worry ‘bout finding a new one because of it."
Emi looked over at Kiara, and mimicked her half laugh. “I used to love being at home but…”
"I know how that is," the youngest Reid shrugged. "Sucks when you lose your place of refuge, doesn’t it?"
"I am so tired of living in this house." I hate pretty much everything about it.
"You too, eh? I mean obviously we don’t live together but I know the feeling," Kiara half laughed.
Hey.
Hey, you never know. What if you had been lying all along? Pinky promises are serious, I’d rethink that before making one. Oh sure I would. I guess we could test it out if we really want to find out.
Princess, I would never lie to you. You should know that. I know they are serious, that’s why I’m making one. It is nothing. At all. You just want an excuse to hit me, eh princess?
I do I just..never mind. I still don’t believe it’s nothing but I’ll accept that answer for now. Maybe I do. Deal with it.

While she’d never admit it aloud, she could sense the change between them. She could vaguely make out the hurt in his eyes. She betrayed him, her very best friend. She would’ve called once she felt safe and comfortable at her friends but she was taken before she could. Not that anyone besides her dad and his workers knew that. Still, the guilt is there because she knows what she’s done and she can’t ever make it up to him. She doesn’t even know the beginning of what’s happened to him.
“But I’m his baby, his little girl. He can’t be too hard on me,” she fluttered her lashes at him. If her dad actually knew though he’d probably kill her or at least ground her. But God, it was good to talk to Alfie. Good to see him too. She never should’ve waited so long to catch up with him. He was the only one to treat her normally thus far. “Now that is correct,” she snicked whooshing the liquid around in her cup. “Point taken,” she chuckled. Same old Alfie, at least for the most part. “Somehow that answer wasn’t convincing,” she came him a look before moving on with the topic. She really had no right to make him talk when she didn’t either. “A few friends suggested it. It sounded like fun and I don’t have to dance in the morning.”
He could almost see the cogs turning in her mind, she wasn’t stupid, she could see how awkward he had felt. Trying to relax his slightly tensed and pained look, he smiled at her, his signature smile, to provide some familiarity to their conversation. “Yeah, yeah, keep dreaming princess,” Alfie smirked. He knew her dad would flip out at her, just like his Dad had the first time he had found out about his son’s ‘extra curricular activities.’ “Hey, convincing isn’t on my job description,” he smirked, not denying he was lying yet not admitting it either. He could sense she wanted to move on. Too much time with her perhaps? You can’t bullshit a bullshittter, he thought to himself. Shaking his head, he smirked subtly,”It isn’t me being the bad influence this time.”
He felt awkward. She felt awkward. He knew that she knew that he felt awkward. They both knew and yet avoided saying it, avoiding changing it. She appreciated his attempt to smile but she noticed it wasn’t the same one she had filed away in her memory. “Oh whatever,” she scoffed and rolled her eyes. “He doesn’t know and what he doesn’t know won’t hurt him,” she said it in a carefree manner. Inside the words made her cringe. He, her father, didn’t know she had been kidnapped, didn’t know what she was enduring until he and his team accidentally found her and the realization almost crushed him. He already lost her once, if he found out about this he would lose her again. “Never said it was but you might want to work on it for future references,” she said giving him a gentle punch on the arm. She didn’t to think about if he was lying or not, she just wanted to enjoy the night. “Shockingly, no it isn’t,” she stuck her tongue out at him. “Though the night is still young. You’ve got time.”
"I was not adopted, I look more like mom and dad than you do. You’re the adopted one. Maybe it’s Elijah and Sophie who are adopted. I mean, he is the only dark haired one. And no my food. I’m a growing lad. I need my food. And hot dogs? Really K? More evidence to prove your…
"That’s probably what happened. They had Sophia, found Elijah, had me then maybe had you, I’m still not too sure on that one. I mean, you don’t like hamburgers. That’s just weird. I suppose it is, eating disorders aren’t good. But anyway…"
"So Elijah is definitely adopted, we can agree on that. Really? Then it was just pure luck and coincidence that I look like dad? I’m sorry but hamburgers just don’t taste right to me. Hot dogs are amazing though. Yeah obviously they aren’t good."
"Yup. Eli is adopted, me and Sophia are definitely not…You could be dad’s love child. I’m kidding. Of course you aren’t adopted. None of us are. You’re just weird. Hot dogs are nice, I wouldn’t say amazing. Can we stop talking about eating disorders?"
"Love child? Really? As if. I don’t know I still feel like Elijah is…Me? Weird? I believe that’s you. I mean you like burgers over hot dogs! Uh yeah, sure. Not like we were really discussing them anyway…"
"Yeah, legal to do what? I can’t even drink legally yet!" He exclaimed, not that his age was going to stop him from doing it anyway. Feeling her bump his shoulder, he laughed,"Are you trying to push me in here? Because if I go so do you!" He couldn’t deny that he loved having…
"You gotta ruin all my fun huh? Porn was the only thing I was excited about," he frowned childishly. "But what if I get a lottery ticket and its a winner? You might be in luck seeing as you’re the only person I like," he winked. He wasn’t joking about that. He genuinely didn’t have anyone else in the BAU that he would consider a close friend. He wasn’t good at talking to younger kids or older ones and he didn’t get along with Kia’s brother Heath. Laughing at her comment, he smirked,"Why Ms. Reid I don’t know what you are insinuating with that comment. I am a law abiding citizen and not once have I let any alcohol or any illegal activity take part in this body of mine. Shame the same couldn’t be said about you," he laughed jokingly. He knew she wasn’t as much as an angel as her dad probably thought she was but he had never questioned the full extent of her rebellious nature. "Why would that matter? You gonna hand me in for attempted drowning?"
"Sunshine we can leave whenever to wherever your little heart desires," he said feigning a bow. "Your wish is my command!" He wished that it was as easy as that but he knew it would be way more complicated. He was barely allowed to breath without his dad worrying he was trying to kill himself. He noticed her eyes narrowing, and he plastered on a poker face,"Well buttercup, you know what they say, sweating keeps the skin clear," he then winked to show he was kidding. "Yeah, even in the summer."
"Hell to the yeah!" Bouncing along, he grabbed his bag and followed her-happy she had dropped the hoodie thing. When she ordered he laughed,"I get all tingly when you take control like that," he said making his voice more feminine than it naturally was. "I’m glad we done this too, I missed my twin."
"Of course I do," she exclaimed. "It’s one of my many jobs," she flashed him a cheesy smile. "Hm," she tilted her head, "Well then in that case maybe I wouldn’t mind…you can take me on a shopping trip then!" She teased. Kiara knew he wasn’t close with the other BAU kids like she was, or at least had been, but she liked to think he still got along with them. Or that he could talk to them-or something. She hated to think he was so isolated from their family. "Oh no, course not you, I must be thinking of someone else,” she laughed sarcastically. “What can I say?” She shrugged. “I’m just a wild child. Better turn me in,” she winked. “If actually try to drown me I might,” she threatened. “Nah, it’s just a fact I felt like sharing with you.”
"Hm, maybe we should plan where we’d go," she tapped her chin thoughtfully pretending to give it serious consideration. It would never happen and she knew it as well as he did. If his dad didn’t stop him her brothers, dad, or someone from the BAU family would stop her. "Careful, I might let that power do to my head," she warned. "Right," she drew out the word not quite buying his joke. "You’re just a dork," she shook her head and lightly pushed his arm.
She laughed with him, enjoying his kid-like energy. It felt good to smile and have it be so natural. “Oh please,” she scoffed, “We both know who wears the pants in this relationship.” She tried her best to keep serious but that voice had her laughing and got them a few looks from people passing by. “I missed you too,” she said sincerely.

Bio: The conception of the youngest Reid was difficult and unconventional. Upon finding out Ashley was unable to conceive and give birth, Spencer and Ashley were devastated. They really wanted another a baby and therefore, JJ offered to be a surrogate.
Being the baby of the family, Kiara would get most of her parents attention when she was younger. She didn't always understand why the fussed over it but the attention never lasted long due to their work. Like her siblings, Kiara got along with both parents but unlike them she actually preferred Ashley. She didn't tell her mom everything but her mom was her go to person whenever she was upset. She liked that Ashley didn't pry but would instead pop in a movie and play with her hair. She never realized that was both of their ways of avoiding whatever was wrong. Kiara's personality comes mostly from Ashley with some of traceable to JJ though her mental state comes from Spencer. Though Kiara wasn't as close to her dad, she still loved him dearly. She just never felt she could go to him. Maybe it was because it seemed all her siblings did and she didn't want to overwhelm him. Or maybe it was her mental problems.
As a toddler, Kiara had a habit of running her fingers through her hair. Since most toddlers and kids did this, no one took notice of it even though it persisted well after a normal age. Kiara always messed with her hair whenever it came to social situations-it was a compulsion. She had to play with it and if her parents or siblings tried to stop her she'd start screaming. Her other obsessions were having order and holding onto objects. Everything had to perfectly lined up in Kiara's room and nothing could be on the floor or else it would drive her insane. If her parents or siblings ever touched her stuff and moved it out of place they incurred her wrath. Trying to throw out any of her childhood belongings was difficult as Kiara would become hysterical when they tried to do so. Spencer and Ashley didn't know what was wrong with their daughter and when her school shared their concern, they finally decided to get her checked out. Kiara was in middle school, only twelve years old, when they diagnosed her with OCD.
Kiara saw how the diagnosis affected her father. He was distraught and almost fled the room. Kiara didn't understand his reaction then but she does now. Spencer always feared passing down his family's mental instability and now he had. Kiara feared that every time he saw her he only felt guilt and saw her mental illness. Therefore, despite having such common ground with her father she felt bad going to him, instead she distanced herself from him.
Kiara focused on her school work after her diagnosis. Being Spencer's child, Kiara was abnormally smart. She wasn't quite a genius but close. She excelled in school, which rarely ever triggered her social embarrassment fear. Oddly enough, despite her OCD, Kiara was the most outgoing one of her siblings until Heath got into sports. While social events triggered her "hair brushing" compulsion, she loved being with people and wasn't going to let her OCD control her. It helped that "hair combing" was a fairly easy compulsion for others to overlook. Math proved to be the subject Kiara excelled in and it helped to calm her "order" obsession. Despite all of this, Kiara needed other outlets to help with her OCD. Running soon became one of her go to relievers along with dancing. Starting dance with she was two, Kiara's improved drastically. In four years, she went from clumsy child to a decent dancer. Ever since then her improvement has happened rapidly, landing her a spot on her studio's competition team.
As soon as Kiara joined the team, she had another family. These people were more her family than anyone in the BAU ever could be. Since her parents were away with work, the other dancers often had Kiara stay with them when traveling for competitions. Most of the time it was easier for Kiara to live them for a period of time, and so she did. These were the people she would talk to and trusted the most. It was through this lifestyle that the youngest Reid came to befriend the youngest Hotchner. When Avery started dance she knew how shy and nervous the girl was, so Kiara was the friendly face that helped her fit in. With the nature of the studio, Avery and Kiara started spending a lot of time together and Kiara found herself regrading the young girl as her little sister. When her home life started going to hell, dancing was Kiara's escape even more so than it was after she got diagnosed. She refused to discuss what was going on and for a while everyone respected her privacy until it became too apparent. Miss Erica, Kiara's dance teacher, pulled her aside and got a tearful confession from Kiara about her parents. Not long after Kiara fled. At first, Erica wasn’t concerned because she just assumed, correctly, it was about the family. After a few more days however, worry started setting in again; Kiara would never miss this much dance. Erica needed to find out what was going on. Deciding to call Spencer, Erica was misinformed that Kiara was staying with her mother for an indefinite amount of time. It was agreed between the two that Kiara could keep her spot on the team but that it could be filled as needed during her absence. Though Spencer isn't fond of lying he knew it was necessary to preserve his daughter's happiness if and when she came back.
When Ashley began drinking, divorced Spencer, and left via letter, Kiara's entire world came crashing down. She lost her mother, the woman she went to when she wasn't stable. She couldn't go to her father or any of her siblings so she did what felt natural-she ran away. She'd be damned if she watched as her family fell apart. Her mom left, Elijah was going with her, why shouldn't she leave as well? She fled to the comfort of her friends, never once looking back. She dropped all contact with her former life. She needed space. She wasn't thinking how her leaving would affect her loved ones.
She told her family she was going to live with a friend. She was hoping for a new start and that they wouldn't come after her. However, during this time Kiara was abducted by an unsub. He'd stalk runners, learn their routines and lure them in. He did the same to Kiara, taking her captive. Her friend assumed she went back home, her family assumed she was with her friend. No one was looking for Kiara Reid. As the unsub revealed he had done this across state lines without anyone catching on, Kiara prepared to die. Not once did she mention her aunts, uncles, or parents jobs. If the police weren't onto him, the FBI wouldn't be either. To her surprise, the unsub had no intentions of killing her. She was too special. Kiara was abused sexually, physically, and mentally. [Trigger Warnings] Sexually, she was raped. Physically he caged and chained her like an animal. Barely giving her enough food or water he also hit and bruised her. Even worse, he would use a knife on her just "to mark her up." When that didn't satisfy him, he'd burn her. Mentally and emotionally, he told her that her family didn't love or care about her. He also told her he was her family now and if she dared to deny that notion he'd beat her. Sometimes he mistook her as his daughter. Other times he called her worthless. It wasn't long before Kiara hated herself, believed what he told her, and as skeptical about everything else. By some miracle, the BAU happened to get his case assigned to them. Finally narrowing in on him, they caught him but were surprised and devastated to find Kiara as one of his victims. Immediately she was returned home where they all worried about her but nothing was said to the other BAU babies about what happened to her. They're hoping she'll go to therapy soon even though she's been avoiding it and remains distant from everyone, including Hotch who she's the closest to.
Since returning, Kiara's developed new obsessions that drive her OCD. Paranoid about intruders, Kiara has to lock the main and side-door of her house, all the downstairs windows as well as her own. She also fears hurting her loved ones, seeing as she's already "attacked" Elijah.
Her return was handled differently by each of her loved ones. Elijah, being the older brother, was relieved but immediately started prying. While Kiara adored him when she was younger and he could trick her into opening up, she wised up as she aged. Returning home was no different, and she refused to open up to him. They used to fight when they were younger but since her return they've turned into complete blowouts. One was so bad that she even started attacking him. Heath was just as upset and for a while they too wouldn't stop arguing. Part of it was him being a big brother the other was the fact they were too much alike. Eventually he seemed to give up on her and acted as if nothing had changed. Sophia and Kiara only got along when they were little as they usually fought in middle school and even in high school. That hasn't changed since Kiara's return, if anything they're only fighting more. Thankfully, others were happy to have her back and less overbearing. Avery was one of those people and Kiara appreciated the girl's quite presence. Perrie was someone else glad for Kiara's return. The two had always been best friends growing up. Just before Kiara left, the two girls were heading towards a relationship. When she initially returned, Kiara was hesitant to jump back in but by now they're together. Their relationship is a secret though as Kiara hasn't come out about being bisexual. Their relationship is also strained as Kiara hasn't told anyone what happened over the summer. Another person happy about her return is Alfie Anderson. For one reason or another, Alfie and Kiara have always been best friends despite people, namely Heath, disliking their friendship.
Kiara isn't so sure she's glad to be back home.
Secret: JJ is her surrogate mother. She was abducted by an unsub during the time she ran away to live with a friend. She was held captive for several months, subjected to various forms of torture, neglect, and abuse. The BAU happened to get a case and catch the unsub, thus returning her home. She’s suffering from PTSD along with her OCD, and undiagnosed mental disorders. She's trying to cope with the fact the unsub got her pregnant and she recently lost the baby. She's in a relationship with Perrie Hotchner and bisexual.
