As he trudged down the corridor towards his section’s break room, Fushimi began to regrethaving insisted on working so soon after what had happened with the Greens andthe Slate. It was hard to ignore the remnants of his fight against Sukuna Gojo—notto mention pain from one of his knives having pierced his own leg—but he alsocouldn’t turn a blind eye to just howmessed up the Special Operations Squad’s data network had apparently gottenwhile he’d been away.
Though he would never actually say so, Fushimiheld a small pride in the system he’d established, so he took it as a personalobligation to iron it all out as soon as possible.
He clicked his tongue.
I guess I can bear with the pain, but everything else…
He really wasn’t looking forward to facingeveryone. Sure, the Captain might have already explained why they had pulledthat little skit and why he’d turned traitor, but that didn’t erase the factthat on the guise of infiltrating <jungle>, Fushimi had actively workedagainst them in his missions for points, despite most of them not having beenaware of it.
…A particular instance came to mind, setduring <jungle>’s Boot-Up Reception, and of course, it was just his luckthat the other person who’d been involved with it was the one he would firstencounter upon entering the break room.
“…Lieutenant Awashima.”
Shit. How had he forgotten that she was thetype to bother getting ready for work so absurdly early?
“…Good morning,” he greeted, then turned and limped towards the coffee maker, an uncertainty (as well as a lingering guilt) in him making him not want to meet her eyes.
「雪 」;;
for ones inconvenience, awashima was no STRANGER to reading body languages. at least she had something in disposal from her days of studying and learning to use it to her everyday life. so when she trailed to the break room, where she had seen shadows of dark shades by her peripheral vision, she immediately sensed the uneasiness in the atmosphere.
greetings, aside. she promptly nodded to his direction, as the vending machine made its ‘clink’ sound. it was a bad habit of hers– to consume a cold anko drink early in the morning– though she digresses away from the topic itself. ( it was good and she could use a little bit of luxury in her life )
their third-in-command seemed UNLIKELY to greet someone a good morning. what she was used to was a lowly muttered greeting that would almost escape the atmosphere if only she hadn’t been paying attention to it whenever they crossed paths in the break room.
she merely swayed the direction of her attention towards him– but he turned and made himself preoccupied with the coffee maker that already had his cup of coffee full but would notpull it out of it.
“ –I wouldn’t bite, Fushimi-kun. „
words spoken to break the ice, which was unlikely, but it managed to dissipate the tension in the air awashima could never imagine herself to stomach. masking the disapproval that thawed itself out of her system with the mere fluttering of her eyes. it was evident that she felt OFFENDED – even angered towards her king– about the confidentiality that wasn’t shared to her as she was needed to solidify the lie that has ended just a few weeks ago.
SHE WOULD NOT BITE, however she would express her distaste and frustration towards what happened. nevertheless, she had let go of some of those emotions; some remained inhibited, still.
“ There’s no need to feel uneasy. The deed was done and I’ve seen the reason well enough to understand. „
needless to say, her tone was almost identical that of the frigid, cold winter Fushimi had to spend outside the SCEPTER 4 corridors ( a matter she was constantly bothered with ; whether the young one was safe or at least okay ). scalding and almost blaring to ones ears, if they weren’t used enough to her bluntness. she had every right. and she’ll take upon that right even as many times she had repeated to herself that it was done and must be put in a book.
「雪 」;;
to say that they were mainly surveying the area ( which they are, as this corner of Shizume has been susceptible to the wanted strains on their list ) would clearly provoke the Red’s already fumed out mood at the sight of their colors, sprinting roundabout ‘their territory’ and messing with the ruby they had so clearly painted all over the city, thus the option was clearly disregarded.
it wasn’t out of FOOLISH antics either that she had brought herself out here with only 2 other clansmen. or had mysteriously happened upon their paths, no, of course not.
it was a mere ploy to be carried out from her King, which he meticulously rigged within her as the lot was fond of burning down letters received from their clan. ( he did like dramatic entrances after all, she gathered much so at the first time she met him; her glances mainly taking short notes in between nods and slowly tailoring the understanding and extent of patience she requires to be able to function in this organization )
CLEARLY, her subordinates had a thing or two to say to the fuming red clansman. ( adding fuel to the fire would be no good-- after all ) so she raised her hand, to put halt to the words they’re about to spout, whether it may be about how SCEPTER 4 clearly has jurisdiction over the territory. ( an organization masked with the name of Tokyo Legal Affairs Bureau, Civil Registry Department, Annex 4; clandestinely kept in LAW and ORDER )
“ It is ‘your’ territory. Though, it also comprises ours as SCEPTER 4′s jurisdiction encompasses that of strains and the activities of other clans, „
which was followed with an impish expression, almost mirroring the other’s defiant posture and aura, though carried out with utmost refinement to execute ones dissatisfaction of lack of hospitality.
“ --but you would already know that. Our business, here, isn’t to cause ruckus with what you call peace but only as a message from our King. „
with those words, it could easily be misunderstood, awashima knew all too well about that-- misunderstood for either one of the three who accompanied the seemingly youngest member. ( it could also be just about the height she’s surmising ) then again, the said clansman was knowledgeable of the boundaries and so should they understand the meaning behind the message. they weren’t going to leave yet, not with the message unanswered.
