âEvery once and a while.â Lucian managed a soft chuckle, gaze flickering down the bar before settling on the other witch once more. There were some humans who didnât mind showing off, didnât want to be healed after theyâd been fed from. He understood the feeling, wanting to see it the morning after or feeling somewhat smug about it, like it was some kind of badge of honor. Even thinking about it made that little spot at the base of his neck itch. The spot completely devoid of any bruising lately. But nobody needed to know that, especially another witch. One he didnât know, had no idea how involved in their community he was. Being her was reason enough to be curious about him, to draw attention. Which meant he needed this guy to trust him, or at least like him enough to keep him quiet. Besides, he helped fill his wallet anyways. Not that he was about to give that away just yet. He would rather it get out that he was just here at the bar than that he was investing.Â
âWhat do you think of it, the whole biting thing?â Besides Vivian, he didnât see a lot of witches in here, which was fine by him. The waitress carried vervain, probably ingested it. Surely Killian was the same way. âI donât think Iâve ever met anyone without a strong opinion on it regardless of what side of it theyâre on.â he rested his chin in his hand, tone curious, gaze unwavering. He was testing the waters, needed to know the reason the bartender was around. âBecause to me, it seems pretty strange to see one of us here. Iâm sure youâre just as full of vervain as everyoneâs favorite waitress.â He left out his own status when it came to the herb. Before heâd really started working with his magic again heâd promised Eve he would carry it on him, maybe start ingesting it now that she wasnât feeding from him.
Oh, how he could play. How he could feed into not only his own curiosity, but the curiosity of the witch standing on the other side of the bar. It was said that vampires had a particularly pull towards witches, that their blood tasted exceptionally sweet to them. Killian often wondered if that pull for vampires was much like his own pull. He flocked to other witches, not because he wished to join a coven or be with his own kind, but simply because he couldnât help but use them for his next spell. Sacrificial magic meant the sacrifice of anything --- human, vampire, but Killian loved using other witches. The death of a witch not only assisted with his spell, but their own magic helped to make it stronger. Which explained the multitude of scars that littered his body.
âWhat do I?â He cooed in that thick Irish accent, pursing his lips upon the thought. There were more than enough times that Killian had allowed a vampire to have a taste. It typically resulted in the vampire being killed and used, but the other didnât need to know that. âSuppose I donât have much of an opinion, aye.â He lifted his shoulders in a weak attempt, appearing as if he were still mulling over the idea, working it through his mind. âSupposing if it were mutually beneficial, I wouldnât much mind.â A brow quickly rose upon his features, intrigued by the way Lucian worded his statements. Killian was smart, and he caught on very quickly. âIâm not,â he mused as a smirk slowly rose the edges of his lips. âThe favorite waitress seems ta be the only one.â
