( past experiences help shape who we are currently, how we see the world. send in a symbol and iâll write a drabble of one of my museâs memories. )
⤠- a memory that involves romance/love
He gets lost in the slender slope of her back, the way the sheets pool perfectly just below the base of her spine. He immerses himself in the gold of her hair spilt undone along her shoulders and the way her arms are tucked neatly to her chest where the suggestion of curves makes him a weak and simple man. A large palm rough with callouses smooths a languid touch down her side, lets his fingers spread so that the cup of his hand hugs her hip in a squeeze.
He doesnât want to disturb her when she rests so little (too little) and looks so good without him dirtying an image that should go untarnished by this dark, harsh gaze. But she stirs beneath his touch, rolls in a lazy turn to rest on her back and glance up at him with the drowsy, half-lidded eyes that always remind him of the open sky. Her lips curve a smile, her voice beckons him in.
âGood morning.â
He forgets he is iron and scars and sharp edges and bitterness. Instead, he is a warm body slowly pressing down over hers and sinking them both into the mattress. He is the heat of his mouth on hers, the unhurried tug of his teeth on her bottom lip. He is strong arms wrapping around her and quiet sighs washing warm into the pale crook of her neck where he sucks soft marks of devotion.
He is hers.Â
And he forgets everything else for once, for now.
had to draw some more stuff of my guy :â)

It had been a particularly rough couple of weeks. Theyâdfinished up their Soldier Enhancement Program not that long ago and before theywere to be sent out they were given leave. Throughout it all heâd managed tosomehow form a friendship with Gabriel Reyes. A senior officer that he neverwould have suspected to be remotely interested in friendship.
Luckily, heâd been wrong, and now he could consider theman a friend and partner. They had been paired up often enough throughout theSEP to warrant the term and Jack wasnât convinced they were or ever would beequals. Gabriel was too good at somany things that Jack wasnât.
He could only be taken to the mat so many times by theguy before he called it quits and accepted that he would never be able toout-spar Reyes or out-maneuver him.
Their friendship was what had led to their currentsituation. The few weeks of leave before deployment meant downtime, and Jackhad been foolish enough to see if Gabe would be interested in seeing Indianabefore he went home to LA. Much to his surprise â he had. When they landed at the airport they were greeted by Jackâsparents who were all too eager to meet the man âJackyâ had wrote home about.
It was mortifying.
Despite it all he was grinning through theembarrassment and let his parents do most of the talking. He and Gabriel wereushered into the back cab of a pickup truck with their duffle bags tossed intothe bed. It was a bit of a drive to Bloomingdale with rolling hills of wheat andcorn taking up most of the scenery.
When they reached the farm his parents were quick toapologize but they had to go finish errands up and would be back by dinner.
Jack gave his mom a kiss on the cheek goodbye and hisfather a wave before grabbing both his and Gabrielâs duffle bag to swing overone shoulder.
âCâmon. Itâs noLA skyscraper but we have a guest room.â
He takes the steps inside the country home two at atime, turning left down a hall and passing a bathroom before he enters asunshine yellow room that is practically spotless. Jack drops the duffel bag onthe bed and turns, keeping his own bag slung across his back still.
âHome sweethome.â
When Jack had first proposed the idea, Gabriel had only been able to offer a scowl of confusion. Friendship is still something he finds himself fumbling with -- a concept that leaves him clumsy in spite of good intentions he doesnât know he has. He hadn't joined the military because he thought he'd make friends. He'd joined because it had been a path rich with opportunities; a chance for his ambitions to quench their thirsts and his skills to speak for themselves (and an escape from everything that he'd been so desperate to leave behind).  Stumbling upon companionship in the midst of the ever-intense Soldier Enhancement Program had been the last thing on his agenda, let alone his mind. Yet here he was, oddly... curious to meet another man's family in the middle of open American farmland.
Why the hell not? In a way, a strange part of Gabriel had almost felt that he owed him the chance. If someone like Jack (patient, kind, capable) could endure every challenge heâd set before him in the field and in the gym, then Gabriel could rise to his too.Â
Itâd definitely felt worth it when the first thing he'd heard Jack's parents say was a fond, synchronized âJackyâ. The nickname had been enough to coax a small, crooked smile on Gabrielâs face the entire ride to the farm. That's one he'd have to pull out now and then to make his junior officer squirm. But the more he'd listened mostly in silence within the humble reunion, he'd found himself all the more awkward in spite of his imposing image. These people... were so kind, so gentle. They loved their son with every word they breathed, every story they told. The deeper they drove into the rolling hills and golden plains, the more Gabriel had realized how different this truly was to everything he'd come to understand growing up. Â To call himself a fish out of water feels like an understatement.
It's a shame Jack's parents have to leave, but it gives Reyes the chance to find the footing he feels he doesn't have. He ends up scrutinizing the inside of the house as Jack says goodbye, taking in the cozy details he's so unfamiliar with. Happy memories hung on the walls, personal touches woven throughout the decor lovingly picked and placed... Even the squeak of floorboards feels like the voice of a house filled warm with something Gabriel can't place. Luckily, Jack distracts him by beckoning him up the stairs.
The room's so... yellow and clean. It makes the city-slicker snort a little, but only because all of this seems to suit Jack more and more. Gabriel trails toward the window and folds his thick arms over his chest. "...Cute," he mutters. It's always difficult to tell if Gabriel is being truly sincere or if there's a mocking edge curled under his tongue. But there has to be something legitimate lurking there, because he glances over his shoulder at him with the start of a smirk.
"You gonna show me your old room, Jacky?"
fighters donât quit; we stand until the world around us crumbles to dust, and weâll rise. weâll rise again.
