I just wanted to add as a little tip rose hair tarantulas are a dry species so you don’t need the moss or the moisture I only spray only a little when my rose hair is in pre molt as well as after otherwise just keep the water dish full and feed every week or so

Alright! Thank you very much for that tip! I’ll definitely move the moss over to my gecko cage.  I heard the rose hair is from South America but I wasn’t sure what part.  Is there a specific type of substrate you would advise? Perhaps mostly orchid bark and some sand or just one or the other?

I have my rose hair on coconut fiber but make sure its dry cause when you do need the moisture say for example when they are molting it holds the moisture well. They are from the Atacama desert in chile which is scrubland desert. Although they are burrowers at choice (most won't) so there burrows humidity will be a bit higher otherwise humidity should he below 40%

Recommended Tarantula Sites?

Looking to purchase a GBB or a red rump, but I’ve never purchased online before. I live in Wichita KS where you can’t sell any breed of tarantula other than a rose hair so I don’t have the option of buying in store like I did with my red knee.

Does anyone in the Tarantula tag have any suggestions or recommendations for a site or breeder? I’d really appreciate it!

From what I’ve read on the tarantula/arachnid tag, I see that a lot of people overfeed their Ts.

Tarantulas will eat as much as you offer them, unless they’re about to molt, because in the wild they never know when will be the next time they get to eat. And of course, they don’t realize that...

3 to 4 times a week is overfeeding once a week is normal or twice a week is normal but I can't help but feed mine every 3 to 4 days haha

Yeah…bad news …heating pads don’t work…spoilers…..Amy is no longer with us…I feel really really bad…but we got a space heater (which I heard works better) and are ordering a new avicularia avicularia tonight….how do you guys heat your Tarantula cages?...

Why is the heat required? What is room temperature? 60 degrees should be just fine anything below that is iffy mine were just fine at 60 this winter and the last.

Gotta love people that keep there arboreal tarantulas in terrestrial setups. Especially if they have owned many different kinds for many years. Every pet you buy or are thinking of buying deserves research I don't care how bad you want it learn how to take care of it first and foremost.

Do you know what sucks?

When your tarantula get’s stuck in a molt. As in it’s abdomen is still in the molt but all of it’s legs are free so that it is currently seeming like it is unable to free itself and has not been able to do so for about 16 hours. And then you have to sit there trying to figure out, ‘Well shit, what the hell am I supposed to do to make sure that you don’t die or some shit?’ If anyone can help a fellow tarantula owner out I would appreciate it.
