Madison Doll Show Haul!!!
I went to my first ever doll show in Madison today and I found an antique (late 30s early 40s) oil cloth Snow White doll! She’s in really good condition for her age and her music box still works!
I’m really glad I got to go and experience it and I can’t wait until next year!

I know a lot of us are excited about the grown up American Girl books that AG is dropping for the 40th anniversary but I am a bit apprehensive. After the whole "the O'Malley sisters' existence was retconned for Raquel's books debacle", I am skeptical of how much of Samantha's story will be changed from her central series, short stories, and mysteries to better match the narrative we got in Raquel's book and journal.
Also, the plot of the story confuses me. Samantha is 25 and loses her inheritance including Grandmary's house and she has to live in a boarding house? What about Gard and Cornelia's brownstone? William, their son who Cornelia was pregnant with in The Curse of Ravenscourt would only be 12 or 13 years old and there's no telling if Gard and Cornelia had anymore children after him. Even if as early to mid-twenty year olds, Samantha, Nellie, Bridget, and Jenny no longer lived with their parents or were married, I can't imagine a characterization where Gard and Cornelia wouldn't let them stay with them if they had no other place to go.
I'm hoping the plot line of the book is clearer and better than the summary we got but part of me wonders if this is going to be a retconned version of Samantha's stories that make the events of her previous books null and void. American Girl has hinted in their comments that the other girls will be getting adult books too, and I wonder if their stories will be retconned as well.
(Also $30 for a chapter book? Does AG really think we're living in prosperous economic times right now?) If I read these books as they come out, I'll try to get them from the library first because that's a lot for one book.
It also feels like with this push to make the historical characters older and pushing them more into the future, along with the modern iterations of the PC girls, I have this bad feeling that the historical characters will be phased out eventually because everything has to be modern or more futuristic than it started out as. I really hope I'm wrong.
All I know is, I would trust Pleasant Company with this type of project. I have no faith that Mattel will handle it properly at all.

Three Generations of Covey
About two weeks ago I bought two new dolls to join Lucy Gray in my hunger games collection but I was traveling last week so I’m doing the post now. Lucy Gray would like to introduce her two distant cousins, Lenore Dove and Katniss! All three girls are Covey spanning 65 years in canon and I am so happy they are in my collection.
Katniss is a tm 117 (I wanted a more book accurate Katniss) and Lenore Dove is a tm 127
