Tips for food during a Big Run

I might not have gone through a big run myself, but I’ve seen my fair share of severe floods to know what’s up. If you’re gonna be hit by the upcoming run, please read this!

Luckily, the main event of a big run only lasts two days, but there’s a chance the power could go out for upwards of two weeks (though one week is more likely). In terms of food, you shouldn’t need apocalypse-level survival— you don’t need three shelves of canned food like in the movies.

I’d recommend stalking up on things you won’t need to heat up or refrigerate/freeze (bread, chips, etc.), plus a bag of ice to keep anything already in your fridge/freezer cold during a power cut. Again, you should only need a one-week supply max, but shoot for two just in case. Also, there’s a high chance the salmonids’ ink seeps into the water system, so DEFINITELY stock up on water.

If you think you’ll absolutely NEED to heat up food and you have a specifically gas stove, you could get a lighter or matches to manually ignite the gas during an outage (just remember to light it as soon as you turn the gas on so it doesn’t blow up…)

So one of my suction bombs just made a noise like it was gonna go off but then it didn't? I haven't thrown it yet btw, so like. Is it just gonna go off randomly or is this okay?

Listen to me very carefully because that thing is going to blow sooner rather than later

I need you to get the strongest box you got that you don't mind getting absolutely destroyed by ink, if there isn't something that strong get a bunch of shoe boxes (around 10 could work) and start putting them inside each other.

Carefully put the suction bomb inside the box and cover it.

If you have an open space like a big yard or similar go outside and put the box outside. if not find the closest turfing range, explain the situation and they'll probably let you in. If you're lucky they'll even handle it for you.

Get a long stick or something that allows you to manipulate the box from a distance.

You're going to tap it.

After some taps it should blow up safely inside the box.

The explosion of a suction bomb isn't too strong but it can, and will make a mess if left unattended.

So I’ve been using this N-ZAP ‘89 for a couple years now and it’s started jamming a lot more than normal? I mean, it’s easy enough to fix but it’s getting kinda annoying. Any tips to make it stop jamming so much?

Hello thanks for the ask

To be fair there are a lot of different reasons that could cause a shooter to jam, main one being an ink overflow through the main canal slipping into the mechanism

But for the N-ZAP line specifically they do have a funny quirk, sometimes the interior trigger mechanism just, gets loose. This mostly happens because of how the casing is made, it's one of the easiest shooters to tear apart, but also one of the easiest shooters to get something to break

I suggest you to open up the casing to find the small mechanism of the while thing, maybe a bolt or spring got l loose
