[i'M SORRY I'VE BEEN AGGRESSIVELY DRAWING LATELY I'LL RESPOND TO YOU EVENTUALLY BLONDIE]
[YELLS INTO THE ABYSS]
Emerald eyes drift around until they settle on the source of voice before her. One thatâs very familiar to the brunette; she leans forward, only to feel sharp, stabbing, pains coming from various parts of her body. The teen shrieked with a hiss that followed after, losing her will to sit up. She fell back into the debris beneath her, clenching her teeth. â AaughâŠ! J-âŠ.judeâŠ? â
The blurred person before her came into focus. Greeted by amber eyes, filled with concern. Her gaze fixed themselves on him, taking in any notable changes in his appearance. Luckily, unlike her, he was in top shape aside from the dirt smudges on his face and hands. Her hand grasps his, feeling comfort in his warmth. Thumb pressed against his smooth skin, over to the callouses on her childhood friendâs knuckles.
The tempo in her breathing fell to an even pace as she focused on the feel of his hand.
Her eyes glazed over before eyelids fell, though the teen spoke again to the best of her abilities so that the researcher could know sheâs still awake. â IâŠcan t-talk⊠â she answered, turning her head to the side. Pressed against the cold surface of the fallen structure, Leia spoke, â A-Arc Noah, there wereâŠseveral spyrix explosions⊠You, âŠyou didnât get caught in itâŠright? â
While Jude was relieved to see his friend awake and aware enough to recognize him, he definitely didn't enjoy watching her writhe around in pain when she tried to move closer. Even if the ground wasn't that accommodating, making her sit up again would probably be equally as painful so he decided against it.
He remained silent as Leia was slowly gathering her bearings. As much as he wanted to get out of this place, patience was going to be key for a while. In the meantime, he mindfully paid attention to the little tells about her condition. Hazy eyes, but steady breathing... She was in better health than most people would have been in such a situation. Still wasn't saying much.
But regardless of her own injuries, leave it to Leia to care about his health than her own predicament. Honestly... She can get into just about as much trouble he does when she tries. With a shake of his head, Jude responded with a small sigh. "No, I was on the other side of town when it happened." It was clear he didn't have to reverse that question back on her, instead medical procedure took over.
"Don't worry about me. How are you feeling right now?"
It all happened so fast; it was a normal run of the mill day in Trigleph. The streets were filled with people rushing from one place to another. Meeting up with friends, going to work, picking up their children from school, etc. No one would have expected a small group of people ripping open their trench coat nor the explosions that followed after.
One by one, there was a flash of light that blinded civilians. Followed by a loud and terrifying sound that would set anyone off into panic. Like the tens and hundreds of people in the street, now screaming and running to safety. The brunette stood in the middle of the chaos, thrown off by the sudden change in mood. Turning her head to the left, right, turning her body around in attempt to get a better idea of the situation.
Not that she DIDNâT figure out that this was a terrorist attack from Arc Noah. Rather that was very obvious, but why and where theyâll set off another spyrix became her top concern. At least until a nearby building began to collapse, and some debris was about to come toppling down on top a crying child. â Look out! â the reporter shouted, leaping into action. She gave herself a boost, rushing over to them, cradling them in her arms and jumping out of the way. They slid to safety; her back to the ground and the child ceased their tears momentarily to ask if Leia was okay. â Yeah, Iâm fine. Donât worry about me, what about you? â the boy assures Leia that heâs all right too, â Thank goodness. â the brunette let out a sigh of relief. His mother came rushing over to them, calling out her childâs name and the boy rushes to her screaming for her mom.
A smile came across her lips, happy to see the two reunite after being separated in the mess⊠Right! The terrorist attack! Thatâs still a thing! The middle aged lady lifted her son in her arms, only to look up and scream. Leia lifted her head to see anotherâor several pieces of the building behind her fall towards her. Her eyes widened at this and the mother and child were still in range. Her body moved before her mind reacted, shoving the lady out of harms way, only to be buried underneath.
Sounds of sirens were heard in the distance after and muffled voices could be heard as well, accompanied by digging. Barking. Suddenly, something wet was pressed against her face. â âŠU-uhhâŠ? â a loud announcement of the teen being alive rang in her ear. A groan, and slowly she opened her eyes to a blurry vision of a person before her.Â
Grasping her hand; warmâŠtheir hand was warmâŠmuch more than her own⊠Was she going to die? The other reassured her that she was going to be fine, as if they read her mind. Telling her to stay with them, but her eyelids were so, so heavy and her conscious was steadily slipping as breathing continued to be difficult. Sleep sounded so goodâŠbut the other was determined to keep her awake with a series of questions until the paramedics came to her.
Another day. Another bout of trouble Jude has managed to find himself in. Whatever business he had left to deal with in Trigleph would have to wait until this newest terrorist attack was stopped in its tracks. Thankfully, the young doctor himself was far away enough to be unaffected for the initial explosions, but his do-gooder duty sent him running towards the center of the chaos.
Panicked civilians passed him by as he scoured the city for anyone injured left behind in the streets. A quick use of his Artes was enough to get stragglers back onto their feet and sprinting to safety. While he prioritized saving others, even if there were any Arc Noah members still in the city, he was failing to find any of them. All that was left was the fallen debris of the streets they destroyed in their wake.
Turning down an abandoned road, Jude found himself coughing at all the dust thrown into the air by recently collapsed buildings. Distressed calls and sirens of the local police force drew him further down the street until the near silent pants of a scrappy-looking dog, pawing at another pile of fallen debris, caught his attention. He had half a mind to shoo the mutt into fleeing for its life, however, he noticed a fleshy color. A person hidden under it all.
Jude rushed to the dog to help dig through the wreckage, slowly uncovering more of the buried person. "L-Leia!" He gasped in recognition, moving even faster to free his childhood friend. Carefully pulling her free and into his arms, Jude quickly analyzed her condition trying to fix the little things he could for now. She seemed to be conscious, but it was clear that it would take more than just his Healer to reverse the damage done by a fallen building,Â
He could see that Leia's eyes starting to waver in and out of awareness. Â "You'll be alright. Just hold on!" He spoke reassuringly, taking her hand into his own. He had to bring her to the nearest medical center as soon as possible, but carrying her in this state with potential terrorists running around wasn't the wisest of plans. There wasn't much he could do for her in middle of the street, but it looked like they'd have to hold out until more authorities pass by the area.
"Leia, are you still awake? Can you talk to me?"
â Not every holiday, there were times when I had to turn down or cancel out on them for work reasons. â
"You could do that...? Well, I mean, I understand work reasons but..."
"Wouldn't your mom get pretty... upset if you cancel on her?"
[[Uh, I guess I should get this blog in gear by this weekend so I can rp with people other than Blondie??? hahaHAAHAA]]
â Yeah, donât worry about it! I mean, they did invite you themselves. â
"You're right. It'd be pretty rude to turn you all down after you went to the trouble of inviting me."
"That reminds me, you must always spend the holidays at home, huh?"
â Whatâre you saying? Of course they donât mind! To them, youâre part of the family. So Iâm sure theyâd be happy to have you there. â
"Yeah... I know. But, still, it's a party for the inn and it's not like I contributed anything to its success."
"I guess I'm just nitpicking."
â Aaaactually~, Mom and Dad are planning on throwing a huge dinner for the staff and said I should come join. They even want to know if youâre going to tag along. What do you think? â
"Dinner at the Inn, huh? It has been a while since I've been there to actually visit. Well, as long as they don't mind me joining in, I'd be happy to go."
â Got any plans for the coming holiday? â
"I... actually haven't put much thought into it yet. Do you?"
â No way! I meanâŠokay, maybe nothing special, but still a nice gathering is in order. After all, weâre celebrating you! It has to be a thing, got that? â
"Celebrating me, huh? I think you're the only one who would try hard to do something like that."
"Well, alright." He surrendered, "Thanks. I really appreciate it."
â Wwell~ technicallyâŠdonât I always? I mean, aside from the time you were in Fennmont and our journey⊠I know! Your upcoming birthdayâs gotta be super special to make up for it! â
"That's true. I guess you always did back then... But still, you don't have to worry about making up for these past few years. I left home on my own after all, that's my fault." Not to mention their involvement with the entire journey... was mostly his fault too.
"Focus on your own party plans. I don't need anything special."
â Yep! Leave it to me! Iâll suggest something light and easy for a beginner! â 'cause that's definitely what she's starting out with.
"You're really into this, aren't you?"
"We're not even talking about your birthday anymore. You're basically planning mine."
â Dooo~nât worry! I wouldnât do that! â she pauses, â âŠMaybe. â surely sheâd wind up finding something on the menu that sounds interesting and urge Jude to give it a shot. â Well, itâl be okay! If Alvin tries anything funny Iâll save you! â
"Heheh. Thanks, I guess that's at least one guarantee. I'll leave it up to you then." Still not the most reassuring of guarantees however...
"And if you wind up going drinking earlier than me, maybe you can recommend me something."
â With Alvin, huhâŠ? I guess I could. I was thinking about tagging along with coworkers, but maybe I should go with someone Iâm more familiar with. â
â I'm sure you have nothing to worry about, 'cause Alvin would definitely take you to a bar for a drink⊠Oh! Why don't I just go with you and Alvin when you hit eighteen? â
"I have no doubts he'd drag me to a bar as soon as he could..."
"Well, whenever that happens, I probably would be more comfortable if you're there too. ...As long as you guys don't team up to make me try anything really weird."
â Thatâs work, that doesnât count. Iâm talking about our everyday life! Like, câmon. Havenât you ever wondered what alcohol tastes like? â
â I mean, yeah it reeks to high heaven, but maybe the taste isnât so bad? After all, thereâs gotta be a reason why Alvin and the others love drinking so much! â
"But work is pretty central to my everyday life... In any case, I guess I wouldn't mind trying a drink at some point. Getting to understand its appeal just hasn't been high on my priority list."
"Does that mean you're looking forward to joining Alvin when you get the chance?"
â Thatâs âcause youâre not really thinking about the adult privileges weâll get that we didnât have when we were seventeen! We donât be needing a guardian to sign legal documents for usâlike with Balan, Alvin, and our apartments for one! â
"Well, I guess that's true..."
"But I feel like I've already experienced something similar with my research. I had to be the one to sign off on a lot of the final decisions after all... Not that you don't have a point still."
[Well, to be honest, I've never really gotten this multi-muse off the ground before. Maybe I'll do a little clean up and try harder at this indie thing later.]
[That is if voikxkka will be a dear and keep reminding me to come back here, haha.]
